It's not just open, it's specified by an IETF RFC (2812) which puts it on the same level of openness as email, web browsers and so on.

Game over. Do you want your possessions identified? (Please answer No, you don't want to know)

Well what is there to talk about MLP related right now? TV show aside there's no new movie properly announced afaik (beyond "we promise to make one") and I don't expect many here people buy toys or comic books. Ergo thread goes into hibernation until the topic warms up

I liked the suggestion of Monopoly `4cpu`, but it has to be presented a certain way. At the end of the input file you'd have to actually unplug the controllers from the NES (assuming that's safe and doesn't generate input glitches like it did for SMW->Super mario maker at agdq2016). There's around 2 minutes of gameplay after that happens allowing a showcase of extreme luck manipulation. Drives home just how much control a TAS has over luck. Too bad it's only 4 minutes, making for pretty minimal play time. But Mario Kart 64 `StarCup` was that long... For explanation to the audience, a TAS is timed from power-on to last input that is needed to let the credit roll play out. I always imagined the end of a TAS as being definite when the player will actually "surrender the controller" by dropping it on the ground shouting "TIME!", figuratively speaking. Conversely a regular speedrun is timed from "Press Start" to the moment victory is guaranteed (eg: final boss's HP meter hits zero). Consequently a TAS is technically "longer" than a regular run since more content is timed. Monopoly shows that a small number of TAS' try to work around that by dropping the controller way too early, yet still winning. Edit: add last paragrpah

They don't care. They're hoping some dumb teenager (to use a stereotype) will assume it's a wrong recipient but still be interested in clicking the link. After all, it's a sexy girl! Suddenly your computer picks up an STD.

I made my first movie because I KNEW I could beat the current video. My brain has a knack for finding weird things (eg: bugs/glitches)

There have been situations where players have changed ROMs, even for MMX2, and games have been judged by their per-level times by actually measuring them. Eg: http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=94162#94162 Something similar would apply here I think. I don't think anybody would argue with an emulator change since 1.43 is so old now.

I hate to say this, but just because you have slowdowns doesn't make it a TAS. You make mistakes and you can't fix them. For example when picking up the Blue-only portal gun you miss it because you're not looking directly at it. In the next chamber you miss a shot with the portal gun. In a proper TAS you would not make such errors.

Typically you use memory search. At the start of the fight initialize the search. Don't hurt the boss and do a "same value" or "equal" search. Hit the boss and do a "value has lowered" search. Repeat freely. When you're down to a reasonable number of options (eg: 5 or less) put a live watch on them all and fight the boss. You'll figure it out quickly enough. In some cases you may need to flip between 8, 16 or 32 bit values depending on the game and console.

I've played the arcade version of this recently. After playing more modern versions of Tetris I find this game's randomizer is annoying. Annoying usually means memoryless, which often means abusable. :) Also this isn't an NES game.

So long as we're on the topic of killing off this idea of a KYM entry, let me just decapitate the idea entirely right now. There was once such an article. It's gone now. That is all.

Rubber banding might not quite qualify for what this thread is intended for, but if we're on the subject I remember a variation. This is all from memory. There's a realistic racing game video I saw on youtube where everyone was driving crappy little cars (I want to say Fiat 500) and when they got to this steep hill nobody was able to actually climb it. The player started weaving back and forth in order to effectively reduce the slope and made slow forward progress. Suddenly the AI cars from behind were able to climb up the hill straight up. :/ Rubber banding blatantly giving the CPU better engines when they need it.

Mothrayas pretty much nails it. You can't have the same input play the same game two different ways. Otherwise this site couldn't exist as every game would be desync-prone. Slight variations are needed, but then it's not really the *same* game now is it?

I've had weird wifi problems from tablet battery life and just plain bad connections where there's contention on a channel. One thing you could try is checking for local interference. There's an Android app called Wifi Analyzer that tells you how much spectrum is in use and how bad. I know you only listed IOS devices in your possession so that's complicated. Failing a scan, try changing frequencies between 1, 6, 11, and the Auto setting (if supported). See if any of them help. Wifi's biggest downfall is its popularity. You can't go anywhere without severe crosstalk these days.

On the original issue of the site having his plaintext password you're missing the obvious: your complaint is the site has your plaintext password at the moment of registration. Duh! You literally just provided it.

Can you understand why planking was a thing? Can you understand why people smoke tobacco when every sane thought seems to be against it? Can you understand why kids love Cinnamon Toast Crunch? The world is full of strange and stupid things that people do or like. The Internet merely magnifies it.

A quick scan of the episode list, and skimming the episode itself, shows "Family Appreciation Day" (season 2 episode 12), though a CMC episode, I couldn't find any appearance of any of the mane six except Applejack.

I have a Lua script that counts the number of steps to the next encounter. Yes, it's basically pre-determined though there are different areas with different encounter rates. For example on the World of Balance lighter coloured pieces of terrain have no random encounters. Therefore you can't avoid encounters entirely without the assistance of the Moogle Charm. (Untested: how resetting affects encounters... though this would only help on the world map anyway)

I think there's an = sign missing It's being interpreted as
local asdf;
savestate.create(1);
savestate.load(asdf)
since semicolons are optional in lua
