phpBB doesn't ask birthdays so I can't automatically calculate an average of registered users.
Isn't there a hack for that?

I agree with the latter rule, but the first one doesn't always work. A faster time attack should still be rejected if it isn't as entertaining.

In NTSC you can very barely make the barrel from the bottom Necky. Why don't you trying rolling off the top necky? Should get you much closer.
I'm only going for the top mini-necky. The only problem is that I can't see him off-screen so I have to guess at what his position is. If the roll is too short or early, I hit the bottom necky and miss the barrel; if the roll is too late, I fly into the pit. Another strat I was experimenting with is waiting until the platform moves right beside the necky so I can't miss. I just have to be careful not to jump on him accidentally while dodging his attack. I'll keep trying to see which way works best.
That's the glitch that I've done several times myself where Diddy freezes and Donkey continues for a few seconds (but the screen soon fades out even if Donkey is safe from the Klaptrap). I never actually exited the bonus rooms when I did that, so I don't know if I would have warped to some level. But it's possible in other levels, the place where I have done it is the end of the Torchlight Trouble level is Gorilla Glacier and I think one of the levels in Chimp Caverns. Maybe one of these warps can be used to beat the "any %" game faster than 20 minutes =D
We'll have to see how the glitch happens in the first place and whether the warping can be controlled. I'm not sure what caused the glitch; I was playing just as I always do except that I was tapping Left as I entered the bonus room, but I doubt it's as simple as that.

hey cockgator, many of us are legit speedrunners taking on world records. Besides, you're nobody important in the gaming world and will always remain as such, so none of this should matter to you anyway.

WTF?? I was doing a run of DKC and I ran into a very strange glitch. I was in Temple Tempest and I entered the last bonus room, but when I got hit with the Klaptrap, Diddy froze in place. So then I got hit with Donkey Kong and the screen faded out and then I was in Jungle Hijinxs, riding Espresso. Don't get me wrong, this is a cool glitch and all, but it completely ruined a perfect run and I am very annoyed because of it!! Edit: I did another amazing run today but I died at Trick Track Trek doing the high-risk move where you roll into the mini-necky and get to the bonus barrel. This move is very easy to do on PAL, but since my snes is in NTSC, the roll stopped a little short. Now for my next run, I'm going to modify the strat a little by waiting until the platform moves to the right and then roll jump off it into the barrel without using the mini-necky. It's either that or I can play it safe and avoid doing the move all together which would cost me 8-10 seconds. Comments?

Deviance: 41? You found a way to skip Croctopus Chase?
with this new route I'm pretty sure 41 is possible; message me on AIM and I'll give you the full details.

you wouldn't need savestates to do a run with ** which would consist of most of the enemies in the game falling to slashes of Chrono's Rainbow Sword.

I just got 47:00!!! I got hit twice, died in Platform Perils, and having Donkey Kong at the start of Blackout Basement threw off my rhythm a little bit, but overall it was a very clean run. If I hadn't made those mistakes, 46 would have been my time! No, I wasn't recording because I was trying new strats in this run and I didn't know if they would have worked.

ice level with crystals is Slipslide Ride. There are two other ice levels, Snow Barrel Blast and Ice Age Alley. The water level is probably Croctopus Chase or Clam City, unless the water is green, then it's Poison Pond. Edit: I just played it and the order is: Snow Barrel Blast, Slipslide Ride, Ice Age Alley, and Croctopus Chase. The levels and their bonuses are identical to the original. Using this code will give whoever owns this competition cartridge more value for their money by letting them play through more levels. Though I doubt they'll care since an original copy of this game is worth anywhere from $300+.

just keep going through that bonus room over and over and you'll get 40 points each time.
I got the idea of 40 points from something you said. ;)
Right as the timer ran out his score went up from 4371 to 4421.
I really should wait for the "Movie End" message instead of stopping the run at 0:00. I suppose getting the 'K' banana bunch is more important and not so much the winky room as I had considered earlier.
I just got 4436
I just noticed this edit. Did you get the K banana this time around?

Just going through the entrance gives you 40 points. Alex's run stopped just as he was in front of the entrance, if he had 2 more seconds he could have walked into the winky room and would have got 40 more points just for doing that. You won't have time do entire loop again, but 2 seconds is enough time to "enter" the room once again, which is all you need.

Btw, where do you get 40 points from? We both just barely made entering the bonus room when the timer stopped.
If I remember, you had 48 seconds remaining when you first reached the entrance and he had 46. Assuming you do the bonus room loop exactly as he did that would still leave you with an extra 2 seconds in the end, which is enough to enter the bonus room one last time.

If I picked it up I would have missed entering the bonus room since I just barely made it.
As far as I see, the only thing that's really standing in your way to beating Alex is that bonus room. You had a two second advantage, so assuming that you don't ever pick up that banana bunch, you will still beat Alex by at least 40 points since he was at the winky entrance when his timer stopped. Get the jumping right, and the record is yours ;). Btw, what's your AIM screenname? It'll be faster to message on there.

you're not doing anything stupid. The main difference is still that missed banana bunch by the K. You were 2 seconds ahead of Alex by the time you reached the Winky Bonus so you had time to pick it up even though it didn't appear in the best spot. You also didn't roll up the last upward slope in Winky's Walkway. To comment on the Winky bonus room, your form of jumping could be improved. You are jumping too high before landing on the crate. You're slowing down a lot before the jump too, which causes you to miss out on some horizontal distance. But I'll blame your keyboard for that.
It's not fair, about 5 runs in a row just got ruined because the banana bunch in level 2 won't show up. *starts crying*
Diddy needs to be in the air when the barrel runs over the hidden location of the banana bunch for it to appear. If he's touching any part of the ground it usually won't pop out.

I can do the winky room just fine on the console, but the keyboard is terrible. Sometimes Diddy will run through the room without jumping at all.
How many hours have you played this now? 'Cos I've played it (all up) maybe 3. Who's owning whom? LOL.
Hours? I reached 4000+ in 3 tries, and without the Winky bonus trick!! Now lets just ignore the fact that I've been playing all 40+ DKC levels for over a month now and assume instead that I did that on pure gaming instinct. ;)

I have another question, when I bounce on the ground under the K between the two kremlings, sometimes the banana bunch comes out and sometimes it doesn't.
I don't have conclusive proof here, but jumping on the Kremling when he is near the top of his jump gets me more consistent results.
I just had another amazing run that got ruined by missing that kremling in the last level. I've been practising for so many hours today
There are two ways to do this: the early roll or the late roll. The early roll is easier to pull off, but the late roll will give you a better boost of speed. The early roll works by rolling as soon as you reach the shaded area on the ground as indicated in the picture. The late roll is done in mid-air after the edge of the hill. If timed correctly, the late roll is faster.

It isn't random; roll late, so it passes over the edge into midair, and keep Y and Right held throughout the roll. It's important that you hit him because it gives you a tremendous boost of speed when combined with the next kremling hit right after.

there is a banana bunch at the end of ropey rampage hidden in the ground next to the Army. Here's a strange one: right after you throw that first barrel at the two kremlings at the start of the second level, jump in the air instead of rolling, a banana bunch will appear out of the ground. Edit: Your runs look almost identical. The only big difference seems to come from when you didn't get the banana bunch and the kremling in Bouncy Bonanza. Alex Penev was actually slower coming into Bouncy Bonanza. You came in with 1:18 and he had 1:17 left.

I was talking on AIM with Alex Penev a couple of days ago and he sent me the 4421 run. There aren't any large differences between your runs. But I do notice that you do not collect as many banana bunches. Why don't either of you collect the two Banana bunches at next to the 'O' letter in the second level? It isn't risky at all and only takes a couple seconds.
I just got 4407 with a missed a kremling in the fifth level. Besides that missed kremling, everything went perfectly, so I can't figure out why Penev's score was higher.
If you had hit that Kremling, your score would have been within 4 points of his. Don't skip the 1-up balloon in Coral Capers, you can glide past the croctopus safely.

What's a mega turbo? Is that a cheat/hack to make the game be even faster than it's supposed to be?
When you see the Capcom logo at the start of the game, press Down, R, Up, L, Y, B on controller 2. Let's you have even more stars than 4, all the way up to 10.

Is it like that?
the glitch involves using the klump but you need to position him first.

I believe TSA sent his LoZ VHS to SDA and Radix encoded it for him. Have you emailed Radix about your run yet?
It's over...... 11:15 on tape....... Whahaahahahaahahahahahahhahahahahaahhahah!!!
the best feeling is when you finally finish your legit speedrun. Nothing compares to it. How many tries did it take and how long have you practised for it?
I also saw the new settings at the TG forums for Punch Out. Deviance should give that a go after he's done with DKC.
hmm, Punch-Out...I expect to see people like RedTom and Matt Turk participating in that. I came very close finishing my DKC run last night, only to get hit in Ice Age Alley. I really didn't know what I was getting myself into when I took on this game. You gotta be crazy to try to beat DKC in under 50:00 without saving! But, here I am, pushing for the record every night.

Does anyone else's Lost Souls look like floating flames with the skeleton head missing?
