Wikipedia is a great source of information
It can also be a great source of misinformation. To say that I'm "simply dismissing it because it's a public wiki" is an assumption in itself. For over a year now, wikipedia has stated that Wilhelm Steinitz was a passionate tapdancer who regretted never competing with Eduardo Corrochio (think "Seinfeld") for the world title. Since few people know the truth, the misinformation has spread to many sites and is now considered "fact". Want another example, check out this page on what it means to "Level up" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Level_up.

I haven't once had a desync, maybe I'll do a quick encoding for all of you who can't watch it.

Just look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_attack for a definition of time attack.
I don't think wikipedia is the most reliable source since anyone can edit it. I can change that entry to say the opposite. The reason that people here switched to using the term TAS was not because the term time attack was confused with playing in time attack mode, but because a small number of console runners started complaining about disclaimers. As we've seen, speed is not always the point in these movies, so can we really say that Tool-assisted speedrun is a descriptive term either? Can we really say they have the same goal? Maybe we need more hyphens to solve the problem?

biggest challenge will be going through the game without running out of cool tricks to show or repeating the same ones over again. I really found the WIP entertaining and I can't wait to see the completed version. Maybe you should recruit David Wonn to work with you? :p

I liked the all the little tricks done along the way. I kind of miss small mario jumping into the clouds in 1-1, but we've come a long way since Morimoto. Good work.

they skip them by going through the ceiling. You're probably thinking of the old rockman 2 movie.

I like the idea of making tournament. It'll be like directing a movie.

I think it would have made more sense if he stayed small mario for the whole game instead of collecting powerups just to lose them a few seconds later.

That's pretty sweet. "Perfectness" is not an English word though, the intro should use "Perfection."

Kung Fu has always been a battle of time units, and since I couldn't improve upon my last version in terms of the time units of later levels, I took some time to show different "routes". I think if any movie obsoletes for this game, it should be in time units because that involves using new strats and would truly be an impressive accomplishment.

yes, but they are red in Crashman's level. Could be a different species of bird. :p

I remember it took some time before he released his smb2 run. He could just be busy, but I'm really looking forward to this run.

I haven't fully encoded rockman 2, it just has the highlights for now so starting at bubbleman is correct. Full runs so far are smb1, smb2, gradius, metroid, alttp. I should probably label them. Edit: added notes on segmented videos. Working on adding a fullscreen function. New short url for the site is http://www.timeattacker.tk

Is it possible to add a 'start immediately' option, vs a 'loading', and 'click play' when completed loading, like most flash things have.
how it works is that each run is cut down into 1 mb clips. After one clip is done it pauses to load the next. You shouldn't have to press play though when it is done though, try waiting a few seconds and it should play automatically.
Allow scaling 1x, 2x, 3x, and default to 2x?
hmm, I suppose I could make an option to play the clips in a new window that can be resized. Another problem I have is that the site in its current form isn't very 800x600 resolution friendly. I'll think of ways around this.

for the number of high quality runs they have produced both separately and together, it's a coin toss between phil and genisto.
