There is a Dolphin issue #8967 regarding inability to start .dtm with a memory card save on Wii. I would not recommend making a TAS and then a verification movie later. I found that in my Mercenaries run no gamefaqs savestates would sync to my .dtm file (which came off my own GC card). The verification I made did sync (fortunately). Therefore "something" in the memory card file impacts syncing, and verification made later may or may not sync.
Yeah... thanks for the tip! I noticed that. That's why I started the recording after Wii had checked the memory system. Yeah... then I had built planes on TASing Assignment Ada and Separate Ways with a custom memory card and then verify it somehow, but, fortunately, gave up! For those who is still interested in RE4, here is my fun made TAS: Link to video

I think I'm ready to TAS this cool and popular rail shooter. In this game you should stay alive and kill all the zombies on your way, pretty simple objective. There are 7 chapters for the Wii version and 9 for PS3. Each chapter contains from 100 to 300 zombies, golden brains in each chapter (10 in story mode and 15 in Director's Cut), some civilians to save and, of course, a boss in the end. Comparing to other games of HOtD series, there you can buy/upgrade your weapons and equip 2 of them. I used to pass this game on PS3, so I know the basic game mechanics. It figured out that I can't skip the cutscenes in this game so about 15 minutes will be wasted. According to the table of speedruns, my TAS will bу approximately 55 minutes. I hope I won't get the rejection by the same reason as Fog did #5087: Fog's Wii Gummy Bears Minigolf in 12:27.13. I think the primary goal is any%, but wouldn't it better to do a 100% run (all the civilian are saved, all golden brains are collected and 100% of accuracy)? If any%, than I should kill civilians to save time. Also I will aim for the in-game time because I will probebly lose some seconds after chapters! What do you think about the best goal? Thanks!

Nothing changed to HOD 2, Wiimote still reconnects when entering the main menu, and maybe somewhere though the game. HOD 3, however, works just fine! In arcade mode I managed to reach the boss of chapter 3 in the real time on easy difficulty, but it killed me. Cutscenes can be skipped now.

If I remember correctly, nobody managed to playback RE4 TAS movie on his ccomputer (excepting SouldCal) because it desyncs after 2xxxx frame. You should ask SoulCal about that!

BTW, a similar problem is hidden in The House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return. When playing HOD 2: after you choose the game (HOD 2 or HOD 3) and wait out the loading screen, Dolphin says that Wiimote 1 is connected after you enter an input in main menu. That causes a desync if you start movie recording from the beginning, but if you skip this reconnection and start the movie recording from the main menu, the game is pretty TASable. When playing HOD 3: main menu works fine. After finishing the 1st stage, a Wiimote reconnection causes a desync. Sorry if I irritate you with that :-)

Usually when TASing wiimote games, Emulated Wiimote is required.
Yeah, that's what I use!

I chose sensetivity of 15° turning per a frame. I think it's the best idea because it's possible to make a correct 45° turn for run-strafing and use no zigzaging.

Great work! I look forward to see the full game TAS. For me, it's so difficult to pass the game as fast as possible and I have not much free time. I spent about 6 days on TASing Map 1 and it's not finished yet =( Here is my WIP: http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/22952445841349675

have you tested for speed in strafing and normal movement and the possibility of eluding the cops search at the end
Strafing speed is the same as going forward and going backward. Hiding behind the poker table, where I was, is the closest place to the exit. It's impossible to hide in the main hall because they spot you in any place; to kill a cop before the cutscene appears; to jump from the second floor into the main hall. It would be great to go out of bounds, but there is no interaction with the objects or walls in this game. So, this TAS will be just a superplay =(

Which third person shooter is the hardest in your opinion? If you try Trigger Man, I guess you'll turn it off fastly. This game has not gained widespread popularity due to its difficulty and crappy gameplay. No-one even tried to speedrun it and there are only 2 walkthoughs of it on YT, so this game must be TASed! GAME DETAILS Control Constol stick: Up/Down - go forward/back; Left/Right - strafe left/right. C stick: aiming. D-pad: left/right - change weapon. Triggers: L - reload weapon; R - shoot. A - action. B - back (in menu). X - crouch/arise. Y, Z - nothing. Start - pause/resume. Movement The fastest movement is simple: going forward. Run-strafing gives no extra speed. Croughing and arising with the periodicity of 2-4 frames doesn't hide you from bullets and you still lose speed. Going with a pistol/shotgun is faster than running with a knife. However, you run with your pistol/shotgun if there is no enemy around, so your speed decreases. Some of switches doesn't work fine if you press A as fast as possible, so the best way I think to press A rapidly. If you run into the openning door, it stops. So you should wait for a while! Also, you have to wait for some time after you pressed A to move from one big room to another. Aiming/Combat Turning is so slow in this game, so I changed the aim speed to maximum for the fastest turning. However, it takes some extra frames for aiming after each turn to make a good shot. Each guard can be killed with a headshot. However, shooting enhanced enemies deals increased damage, so it's better to kill some of them with a knife. Pistol shoots once per 30 frames, shotgun - longer. On the other hand, you can increase your firerate by switching from one weapon to another. Difficulty choice I think it's not a problem. It almost doesn't affect the time. Deadly difficulty does the following: - More aggressive AI; - Enemies and items are not shown on the radar (yellow dots show ammo boxes, medkits, keycards and calm enemies/police, red dots - alerted enemies/police); - Enemies shoot more accurately (?). Escaping from policemen Policemen are invulnerable and the most attentive in the world. You should hide and wait for their slow passing. Link to video This is a test TAS of the first mission. The game is specific in terms of mechanics and, judging by the quality, developers could NOT consider some moments. I suspected that the guards will not disappear after I steal the diamonds and return to the big hall where cops appear. That would break my walkthrough because the cops would spot me immediately, but, luckly, the guards dissappear. Movement is not fully optimized and the assassination of the shotgunner who drops the Security card A can be improved. So it's possible to save 1,5-2 seconds. Also, this video is captured in 2 segments because I used a broken savestate for the main tesing and, if I start dumping the video from the beginning, the movie will desync. There are 8 missions in the game. The final mission is quick. I think it's possible to TAS this game in 25-30 mins. Any participation or suggestions are welcomed!

I'd suggest you to use simple controls instead of TASstudio. TASstudio is more suitable for editing movies rather than making them.

OMG! You'd better NOT see this: https://cloud.mail.ru/public/KHpV/XiGgge7nQ The top screenshot shows the error when I load your snapshot as a snapshot, the bottom screeshot - as a movie. I think I should do something else than using JPCRR =)

What should I do to set the emulator correctly? Using r11.7-precompiled. I've imported floppy.img and Wolf3d.img (originally called ''Wolfenstein 3d (1992)(Activision Publishing Inc) Game''). I did no changes to PC settings: CPU freq. - 50; memory size - 4096; modules - org.jpc.modules.BasicFPU,org.jpc.modules.SoundCard,org.jpc.modules.GMIDIInterface What should I press in DOS to start the game? Thanks!

I'd like to, but I can't even open the emulator! I do everything like Emulator Resource says, but when I open start-jpcrr.bat, I get a single window (looks like cmd window) which disappers instantly. I had better time with OpenMSX :-)
