Thanks for voting again. Haha, I'm glad I went back and did that part. Beside the time bonus it is kinda funny to see.

No point in rejecting this, especially with a better (and funnier) strategy on the crab boss.
Haha, apparently that is the new highlight of the run. Well I'm glad it's good for something. :)

I've officially cancelled this submission, the updated version with new 5-3 through 7-2 will be done in a few days. I'm thinking this run will be much better if there are no known mistakes, I'm too much of a perfectionist for that, heh.

Wow, thanks everyone for your comments. :) I'm going to be taking the advice of Bisqwit and a few others. I'm going to redo the end of 5-3 and finish the game. Unfortunately hex editing didn't work. The game de-syncs instantly. It's alright, it'll be worth it.

Strange, I swear this thread only had the original post when I saw it last about 30 minutes ago. o_O Anyway, this was a very nice run, especially world 5. :) Only real mishap I spotted was the aforementioned Clawgrip trick. :P Funny story: about 6 years ago, I once used a Game Genie code to give Clawgrip an insane amount of health. Bounced a rock off the back wall, and it hit him about 20 times before he could back out of its range. XD
Haha, I wish I had seen your run earlier. I didn't know it had existed. I tried some different things but apparently was never able to come up with that. I guess eventually I'll have to do it again.

It was somewhere in this movie (4matsy's). It wasn't aiming for fastest time so I don't know if it's actually useful, but it looked pretty fast to me. Also, I don't understand why you took hits on some of the Birdo fights - necessary to pick up the mushroom blocks?
Hmmm, I never saw that run. I mostly looked at the submitted ones on the site. Well I guess if it's possible then it is. When I actually feel like it I wanted to try again anyway. I took damage when fighting Birdo to save time, it was faster to let myself get hit and pick up the mushroom then to try and get around Birdo to get it again.

Wow... One thing: Isn't there some trick that lets you kill Clawgrip with only 1 rock that bounces on him repeatedly?
If there is, I couldn't get it myself. I tried a few different things to try and get him faster.

Just watched this. I don't know wether it was good or bad. I didn't understand a thing that was happening. :D Perhaps a longer run should take place as well? Without the warp glitch... I admit that this game was fast played. But for me it wasn't that entertaining. I would give this run a yes-vote though because it was fast. But from watching this it didn't enlighten me at all I'm affraid. :) Good work though! ;)
Heheh, thanks...I think. I was going to do a full run, but Xkeeper seems to want it very badly so I'm letting him do it.

Oh yeah, that's definetly a yes from me. I see a couple areas that looked like they could be a little more optimized...but I've never fooled around with the luck in this game so maybe it really is the best it can be. When you're trying to get the metal slimes, did you try playing with the frames before the previous battle ended? I noticed that when I did my final fantasy run that waiting a frame before pushing "a" to leave the battle sometimes changed things to what I needed perfectly instead of waiting longer on the map. I noticed that you got the wings in a different place? How much time did that save? As far as I could see getting the wings where the other runs get them was much faster, considering that chest was right in the path. Perhaps I missed something?

I dont think this run will be published if I ever finished it. Its get very repetative after a few holes, and there are 54 holes in all. There is a run of another golf game in submissions, and it doesnt seem like it will be published. If you wanted to take over from where I left off, you can use my movie for the U.S. course and finish the other courses yourself.
Unfortunatly I have to agree with you. I just happen to like golf a lot...kicking serious butt like that does something for me. But I don't think a run like this would ever get published...

That's pretty awesome. I wanted to do this one myself, but I got impatient with it. I know it's possible to get a hole-in-one on the first hole if you manipulate the wind to 9 north. after that you did a great job. it'd be great to see this finished.

Oops, I didn't know this was being worked on again. Sorry! :( I just saw a lot of errors and I wanted to fix them... I'll back down man, you can do the full run.

You only did because you happened to have perfect timing for your impromvent, as I was working on an updated glitch run just before it as my first TAS (and was even ahead of you by a few frames, which was encouraging) It just sucked to see it blown away almost instantly... meh. Oh well; if you want to do the run, go ahead.
I guess there's not much I can do to console you...Please try to beat my glitch run then. In studying it I've found a few frames that can be manipuated into a better situation. If you can beat it I'll let you have it, I mean if it's that important to you.

I am, pending getting home, watching TSA's run of it (as I'm on dial-suck here, and do not care to download it), and then planning my own route. Of course, also included will be me making sure my graphical hack (heh) can be used to play it as a local copy, mostly since I've played the game so much I've grown tired of the original graphic set.
Sorry dude if I was making you upset. :( If you want to do a full run, you can. I was doing this cause it's fun! I love playing my childhood favorites and beating the crap out of luck because I didn't get it when I was younger. I just started my full run over again. I had gotten to level 4 but found a lot of mistakes that I had done so I'm doing it again...I'm not trying to like steal your games or anything... Geez. Even if you do this run I'd probably still do it, even if just to see if I can. :)

That's what a glitch run should be, utterly confusing with a topping of "How the hell did he know that'd happen?". Just one question, why did you move a screen to the left before picking up the sword? Would picking it up there cause unwanted bugs or is it just faster to go a screen to the left?
It's faster to move the sword left by a lot. If you just go and get it you have to talk to the owl, but if you move the screen left you don't have to talk to the owl. :) Thanks for your comment! :)

Over 5 second, I think this is great for such a short movie. Voted yes, because it looks great and its faster then the other published run.
Thanks a lot! I didn't think 5 seconds was too much, but I guess movies like SMB can only improve by mere frames now.

What can I say? You blew my (admittedly crappy) test run out of the water, and if you started this for the reason I think you did, in almost no (real) time at all... Of course this would be a yes vote.
I had done the origional run because I was surprised no one had completed it yet...I didn't even know about your test run. For all I know I coulda been slow by a minute..hehe. Thank you for your comment. :)

I draw, I like being active too. Lets see...being active and having the time to spend three weeks on a 2 hour run...somehow that doesn't seem right, heh. I like to collect things. I suppose collecting old NES games in their tangeble form counts right?

Sorry, I have to vote no. I would have been more entertained if you had done perfect accuracy and speed. I can mess up quite easily without the emulater...heh. I don't need the emulator to do it on purpose. I'm not trying to sound mean or anything, but I think I actually got irritated trying to watch a perfectly good mega uber shortcut be ruined on purpose. Even on Rainbow Road. I would have LOVED to see the whole course done like that last lap was or better. Noting but perfectly timed bounces all the way to the finish line. I think this game beaten using shortcuts like that would be much better.

Hehe, thanks. I hope you like it. As I said before I was thinking of SNES...if that's wrong then I will blame my course of info.

Maybe DonamerDragon was confused... Or maybe you're supposed to take that to mean that it's an RPG for people who are new to RPGs. I don't know.
I'm thinking SNES, sorry guys. Perhaps I am still wrong; but that is what I was told, so I will blame the source of that info. Heh.

Your Welcome DonamerDragon! This was a very very well made run, and is a great improvement compared to my run. I am happy to see my run get improved by this much because it had some obvious flaws in it anyways. This is for sure a yes vote, but there are several things you could have done to save a bit more time. 1. Getting the cure spell before bone dungeon would have shortened the fight with the bone dragon. Cure does more damage to him than the bombs do. 2. Putting the secondary character on Automatic will save several frames per battle, I found that you can put tristam on automatic thoughout the entire bone dungeon and he will always attack the way you want him to. 3. This was a big one. In my movie I dicovered a way to get infinite seeds from the old lady in windia. However this trick CAN be done in fireburg too. You can buy seeds in fireburg and never have to worry about getting more ever again. 4. Jumping over the barrel after getting the cure spell should be faster than walking around it. 5. I do not know this for sure, but supoosedly you can use the cure spell on the Dark King twice as long as you use a different attack for a couple rounds inbetween. 6. Also I dont know for sure, but it may have been possible to manipulate pazuzu to appear on the top floor right when you enter the tower, thus eliminating the need to talk to him on the third floor. All in all these improvements would not add up to that much time anyways. I am very impressed with your luck manipulation throughout the game. Your rerecord count shows just how much testing is needed when trying to manipulate effectivly. I actually tried to redo my movie, but got burnt out trying to manipulate everying better. And now that this run has been made, there is no reason for me to try making a new one :) Very nice run, Yes vote.
*smiles* Thank you. In watching my movie again I did catch a few of these things. You're right in that they would save almost no time...probably a couple seconds at most.
