This game is kinda neat. Is it broken yet?

Here is my improved version. I'm not going to submit this officially right now. Firstly, I might try again before I do. Secondly...my computer cannot handle either of the new SNES emulators SOOO I was forced into using my good ol' snes9x. Better description in YouTube description. Any input? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GYJPQJyLthU

Aye. I realize my mistakes now. I had looked thoroughly for things like this, but apparently I didn't do good enough. Well, it seems like people want to see it done right, so I will try. I accept my rejection and will try again. I will also update my emulator, as well.

I will come out of the woodwork to vote for this. I really enjoyed this run. very nicely done. it's new and creative. it's like a new video to me. That's the way a TAS should be done.

I really like this run. I love number and luck manipulation, so seeing the same route with faster results is interesting, especially considering when I tried to TAS this game to see how hard it was, I couldn't even HIT a metal slime let alone excellent hit it...This game is certainly beyond conventional means.

I really like this run, and the best part about it being it's hardly a spoiler, except maybe for the end of the game credits...I could hardly recognize the the due to the shortcuts used. Definitely a yes from me, nicely done run. :)

Okay I have to admit at first I was like "oh boy, he's gonna beat it really fast and get some credit action" But then...it...happened. That glitch is so awesome. It seemed like when I was watching it that if you could break the score you automatically win the game. Hehe. Very nice and of course I voted yes.

I voted meh, this run is actually very boring to me...and I like when RPGs are destroyed. I was hoping for 25 minutes of goodness and ended up with....20 minutes of confusion and monotony. I won't vote no cause it is cool to be able to beat this game in such a short time, but you really have to know what's going on with this glitch to be interested.

Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing a Vs. CPU run on the hardest difficulty (where you hold L+Select+something on the select screen), but I can imagine it would be nothing chain reactions filling the CPU's field and would probably get VERY old after the 12th or 13th opponent. Kles, Kirkq, aside from the fact that SNES9X has shitty audio to begin with, Wario's Woods has some very odd audio implementation all on its own. Probably has something to do with the high amount of and quick manipulation of vocal samples. It's one of the few SNES games where you can't dump a standard SPC song file from your emulator of choice.
Yeah, the Vs CPU would get repetetive. I think a few people would like it, including me. I'd love the 100 round to be done too. But I'm weird like that.

Wow, thanks everyone. I didn't expect anyone to like it all that much. I know previous attempts at this game have been squashed or rejected. :)

Well I got to playing around with this game and I started getting really OCD to it. Personally I think trying to get to the credits in this game would indeed be very boring so I thought I'd give this a shot. Maybe it could be a demo submission or something because I think this is the most entertaining part of the game to watch. If anyone watches this I would like to have you note that getting a Gold rating on easy requires 5m00s or...less... http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1087486789/Wario%27sWoodsTimeRace.smv Some things I noticed is that I can't change the order in which the bombs dropped. I tried many different things. It almost seems as though it's randomized by you defeating things and given a default order at first...so I did have some delays to that. I can manipulate where the fairy drops a bomb, I can also manipulate the crystals which was really nice. Saved some time on that. EDIT: I noticed a slight error I made at the end. I think it saved about 8 frames to correct it and the second timer stayed at 0:50. Yay. :) http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1325784287/Wario%27sWoodsTimeRace2.smv

Hmmm looks a whole lot different than i expected :P I realize it'd be very hard to but I thought there would be more manipulation Also one example ... would it be possible to race to the finish like a regular TAS (don't finish), then start laying about bananas in a pattern that will result in the order you want/need? I believe this way the CPUs will arrive earlier due to the 'if you drive fast we drive fast' code? edit: Also, how about trying for a more equally distributed score? :D (I think the best possible is 12,12,12,9,9,9,9,4) edit2: oh actually you dont have to have 4.... so even low variance in the scores can be gotten with 12,10,10,9,9,9,9,8 edit3: ok wait i assumed 4 races instead of 5 :P let me re-do that edit4: so I think 13,12,12,12,12,12,12,10 is best? :D
Heh, well first before anything I'd like to note again that this was just a "quick" TAS to get something out there, to prove it was possible and maybe a few funny things to see. I am absolutely sure now with some effort I could do a lot of that. The only thing with the bananas is, you can only get one at a time and after like 3 they start disappearing so it might be hard to do that. Thanks for your input I will remember this if I start a good TAS of it...

I seem to remember that CPU karts can get stuck once in a while. If that could be manipulated, then this would be trivial.
If you can show that to me, that would be awesome. o-o

Oh awesome. I knew I couldn't have been the only one to come up with this idea. Well I decided to go through with it. This is TASed and I think it's a lot cleaner and faster and hopefully more entertaining. This isn't by any means a cleaned up TAS, just a concept. Any ideas on how to make it better? http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1078495449/SMK-Donamer-finish8th.smv

I haven't really tested this yet too much, but I really think it's possible and would look really fun for a fool around TAS. Not meant to be serious but I bet some people would like to see it done. The goal? Finish a cup 8th. Seems pretty easy right? Go play Super Mario Kart, you'll realize very quickly that the place of all the computers is set nearly in stone and set based on the character you use. The computer also tries it's best to return to that position in the race if hit. If by some off chance that a computer goes up or down a rank, that is the rank they are set to stay in the next race. In fact it's not uncommon at all to only have four players, including the human player with points and all having gotten the same place in each race. This is also especially hard because you have to finish at least 4th in every race to continue to the next one. This is my theory: I think it's possible to get all the other computer players enough points so that 5 points (the absolute minimum the human player can have to even finish the cup) is also 8th place. There are five races and if a computer player finishes first(9 points) one time, second(6 points) one time, or third place twice(3+3) they will have more than 5 points obviously and outrank the human player. There are 5 races and 7 computers. Seems like plenty of time, but remember all the computers fight to return to their predetermined place. I think the best I did on console was 5th final. It's not easy.

This looks pretty awesome man. I can't wait to see this run either. Was such a long game because some of the clues were really hard to get!

Wow, that's awesome. I didn't think such a thing existed outside of the warping glitch. I mean what does this say for the other runs of this game? Does that mean the hour long run through of the game without the warp glitch will be replaced with a similar run to this? I still voted yes. This run is win.

I can confirm that the "start-reset-restart" thing works for foregoing the cutscenes. Rerecord v19.3 (and probably 19.2) support in-move resets. Now, can I get an answer to my question? D:
Ya. If that works I will re-do the movie. That was an assumption overlook on my part. I assumed the cutscene couldn't be skipped til after completing the level.

I downloaded the game already patched. It uses left and right on the D-pad instead.

I hadn't tried that but only because I assumed that since you couldn't skip the cut scenes until you complete the level, that it wouldn't make a difference

Well, I got it to work under VBA 19.3. Try playing it there. If the first mini game (shave) does not work, then you will have to patch the ROM with this: http://bubbz.pocketheaven.com/?system=gba&section=patch_info&patch_id=1231 That patch makes the game use the D-pad for the tilting instead of a tilt sensor. Without the patch, the D-pad is completely ignored since the tilt sensor is used for all navigation. I will watch this later and give a response to it then. EDIT: Hmm... I have a few questions. 1. Did you purposely lose in the two "don't trip" mini games where the lady had to jump over the rocks? And did you also purposely lose in that one avoid mini game in Wario Man where he was avoiding asteroids or whatever was shooting at Earth? If you didn't actually lose, I must have desynched a frame or something, which is strange since all the other mini-games finished properly. 2. Is there any way to skip those cut scenes? They take so long that entertainment value is lost. Other than those two complaints, I think this was a decent run. I liked the times when you were doing crazy things and you ended up just making it. I was also amused when you completed some of the mini-games before the screen transition finished. That final boss for Wario Man was... special. It's funny that the programmers allowed erratic movements in that last game as long as you were in the correct position at the proper time. However, I would have expected something much harder like in the WarioWare, Inc. game where it was very easy to lose just because you never knew what was coming next until you got far enough to see what it was... and then lose if you didn't have the reflexes. I'm not sure if it is proper for a TAS to have those credits shown, but I suppose it is the equivalent of a "the end" to the game anyway. I vote yes for doing beyond what the actual console could do, especially in terms of spinning.
1) Yes, I failed a couple of them on purpose, I said that in the submission text. 2) No, I wish there was or I would have done it. This game makes you watch the cut scenes the first time you play through. THanks for the yes vote, Do appreciate it. :)

Generally, it's patched to use the L+R buttons. I assume it's done the same. As for my thoughts, this doesn't make a very good game choice IMO. I'm voting no on that factor. I believe somebody had done a Warioware game before and that was rejected for the exact same reason (I think they did the first Warioware game). Edit: Found it. http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3576
Truncated: Rejected because of poor feedback, and I can understand why. A human player could have done just as well as this. And all the events are timed, so there is no way to speed anything up.
That's cause the other one DID look like a human player could do it. I dare you to pull up the game, and record me a movie at 100% with no re-records and then tell me what you think. ;) I respect your opinion though.

And what's the deal with airline food? PS. If you can't get IPS patches to work, you're doing something wrong. Blame yourself instead of the patch, imo.
What am I doing wrong, then? I can't figure it out. I pull up the patching program...tell it what game and what IPS patch to use and it gives me a file and it does not work...is there some magic word I'm suppose to use?

I have a rom that matches the CRC (33912C73) of the updated Kaizo Mario World 2 TAS, however, it desyncs during the yellow switch palace as well. So, it looks like there are at least two copies of the ROM with different content but the same CRC. (or maybe it was the result of doing hex edit cut & paste with the input?) Anyway, out of the 5 patches I have for Kaizo Mario World 2, only one patch (CRC32 = 4560ED03) that played pasted the yellow switch palace. However, it desyncs in the middle of the level that follows. Can someone please provide a patch that doesn't desync ? UPDATE: I found a patch that plays until the end of the game. Here's the ips file: http://rapidshare.com/files/90333327/kaizo_mario2d_ips.rar.html Apply it to the US version of the SMW ROM. After applying the patch, the in-game (the one shown in SNES9x) CRC32 = A75B9D22. I think the Bowser fight is awesome in this hack -- at least it's different than all the SMW hacks I've seen. The last boss is nice too. I wonder how many people can beat the last boss without savestate or tool-assisted. I would like to thank gocha for posting the SMV files and thank the people who did the TAS for these two hacks!
I really really hate IPS patches. worthless pieces of shit if you ask me. I've gotten maybe one ever to work right. I mean what's with this stupid patch? I apply it and the game won't play. Like all the other trashy IPS patches.

I personally thought this run was awesome. I mean the game is just simply broken. I'd be amazed if this could be improved by much, though I'd probably enjoy it if someone could find a way. heh. Never knew what was gonna happen next...the first movie I've voted on in months. YES
