There's no need to redo the entire run, the missing Mudokon is at the end of the game, before the Board Room. This Mudokon can't be rescued, but count toward your casualties score. So, I may fix this sometime and make a proper submission. edit: Kill the last guy is harder than I thought, I'll have to go back to RuptureFarms 2 to manage my grenades a little better; it's only possible to kill him with "clean" grenades. I mean, you can't use the ones acquired with the infinite pick up glitch. edit: okay, the grenade management part is done; I'll finish RuptureFarms 2 with one spare grenade to use on Zulag 2, pick up 3 more in the same stage and 5 on Zulag 3. This way I'll reach the Mudokon with just one clean grenade. So, I think a new submission is not needed, I'll uncancel this one as soon as I replace the movie file and make a better submission text.

Thank you, guys. But this run fails to kill all "killable" Mudokons.

About my demand to use Snes9x 1.43, I was just trying to make a joke, but it seems that I've failed, again...; http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=13974

I do care about the emulator choice, so, if it's accepted, I want to be allowed to use Snes9x 1.43 on my future SNES runs. edit; I've been thinking better and I actually demand that they let me use the Snes9x 1:43 if it's accepted or not!

I can't comment if it's well executed or not, but I'll vote Yes because I love the background music!

The lack of plugins in PSXjin made it impossible to play any of the Abe's games in it. Let's hope the PSXHawk comes along to fix this issue.

That seems a pretty good way to segment your new run, good luck! But I have some news; Those bats are more random than I thought, the way I described it is too hard. But here’s a more consistent way to setup the DDG in real time on Scrabania; After climbing the platform don’t run! Just keep walking to the next screen. Still walking, fall from the platform, walk two more steps and then jump twice. In short; keep walking, two steps after falling, the usual two jumps and DDG! And here's a demo done in real time, rerecords are just to avoid the Scrab: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1565634204/DDGbyBats.pxm Of course it won't work always, but it was pretty consistent on my tests.

Yes, the new way to set up the DDG may not look, but is pretty simple in real time.

I already started the any% update, and since it's all about speed, you'll find some things not present in the 100% run; http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/5389152362892658 I'll try to finally write those details about the invisible Abe, but it's not too different from my "visible" Abe runs. So, if you watch my older runs you will know exactly what I did on the new ones.

So, if it's just an unconventional way to write "Says", and everyone understands the way it is written, I think there is no reason to change. About the Diagonal Fall in Monsaic Lines, and a lot of other places, it's explained in the "New Tricks" section, but they're not new to this run; I already used it in my published runs.

TAS Soft Graphics Plugin 0.2 shows the input even during the playback, but watch the movie with this plugin is painful. TAS with it also is, but I'm used to it already. TAS the invisible Abe is no problem at all too, but play without seeing is almost impossible for a real time player. But Samlaptop said he was going to stick to the PC version, so I think a Lua script for the PCSX is not needed anymore, is that right?

Even during movie playback? If so, we still have the video plugin problem; I was not able to display even a single digit on screen using Lua.

The P.E.O.p.S Soft Driver 1.4 does not show anything drawn by Lua, but even worse;

So, the Lua script, although a good idea, is useless on PCSX-rr to show what buttons have been pressed.

I think it doesn't need to be a "pro" script. A working script with input/hit box will suffice, thank you antd. The script will be used by Samlaptop on his real time runs, for tests I think, but it can benefit my TASes too. edit; I'll start working on a new any% run after submitting the 100%, so, yes, I'll be using the script for sure.

Thanks for the link, but I was hoping someone with programming skills could help us with the hit boxes, I'll try the button presses though, thanks again. in any case, here's a wip with the new strategy for RuptureFarms 2; http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/899439550/Oddysee.pxm

Hey, you gave me an idea; what about a Lua script? It would be nice if we could see Abe's hit boxes and the button presses while he's invisible! But I know almost nothing about Lua programming :( anyone interested in giving a little help here?

Do you mean when he falls diagonally? If so, it's the Stop&Turn trick. out of order edit: Oh, and by the by, the trick was first used by antd when he was testing a possible skip of Paramonia/Scrabania and then Sligfantry found out what causes the diagonal fall when he saw it in my any% run. edit: I've found out what was causing the game freeze when picking up more grenades on the first Boom Machine; DO NOT roll over the grenades when you do the infinite pick up glitch! Anyways, the strategy for RuptureFarms 2 is ready; I'll need 10 grenades, collected on the first Boom Machine. But 10 grenades is not enough to finish the Zulags, I'll run out of them setting up the DDG, furtunately, when I need more I'll be in front of a Boom Machine which gives me 9 of them! Why not pick them all from the first Boom Machine then? Well, picking up more than 10 grenades there will cause a strange graphics glitch, followed by a heavy slow down and then an emulator crash. edit: RuptureFarms 2 almost done, 69 rescues, 15981 frames ahead. another edit: New way to use the Backward Jump; set it up as normal, but use it one or two steps away from the wall then walk to the next screen. Why is it useful; playing in real time sometimes you'll be trapped inside walls after the Backward jump, if it happens, go back to the previous screen then walk to the next one. obs: do not run or Abe will bump into the wall of the next screen, I don't know why but he can only "walk through" walls. About the progress, the Zulag 2 skip will be useful on the 100% too; instead of go to Zulag 3 after the skip go back to Zulag 2. This way you'll won't need to possess the Slig. sad edit: Do you remember the new use of the Backward Jump? It saved 330 frames on RuptureFarms, yeah, right at the start of the game! I'm testing it in other places and depending on how much time it saves I'll be restarting the run, oh well...

I will, for sure. His findings are the reason for this update and I'm using them everywhere. I'm almost done with the strategy for RuptureFarms 2, I just need to find out how many grenades will be needed to finish the game with the new tricks. edit: Oh, forgot to mention; you can only pick up 5 grenades on the first Boom Machine, otherwise the game will hang when you throw the second grenade, no matter where you throw it.

About the lever skip at RuptureFarms 2; after passing through the electric wall it’s not possible to activate the check points, so this skip is not an option, sadly, but I’ll try to stay “dead” as long as I can. Here’s the wip with the failed skip still in just for show: http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/5147299355025721

Switching to the PSX version is a really good idea since they fixed a lot of glitches on the PC version. About the DDG on Paramonia, yes, it's faster for three reasons; you set it up with the bees, Elum will go further than normal and you'll don't need to blow the mine near the lever which calls the elevator. But with the DDG and the Stop&Turn tricks Paramonian Temple must have its strategies revised with care. The item mangement will also be kinda difficult. I'll post results as I put them on the new wip.

I'm downloading your run to watch later at home, thank you. About the DDG in Paramonia; finishing the stage as a dead Abe is 40 frames slower. It would save some time later, but it is impossible to reach Paramonian Temple (high ledges). Fortunately, there's a well at the end of the stage which cancels the trick allowing me to proceed as normal. So, this stage is now 512 frames faster with the DDG.
