Thank you guys, I promise to go slow this time, but Riverside Race is slowing me down too much... /wait for 13 frames gave me the best luck so far, I can pick up almost all the bananas in the first possible frame, but then the last banana appear on the left most side of the screen. //hm, the first possible frame allows me to finish the stage 12 frames slower, so waiting for 13 frames to enter the stage is not so good after all...

Thanks a lot! I was doing it all wrong... /Okay, after all those time savers, the use of a particular nickname makes no sense, so; the nickname will be the default, Dixie. Tompa's and ElectroSpecter's improvements will be in. and most important; I'll post wips more often, so you guys can point possible improvements. //hey, a time saver right at the beginning; (aka "another mistake") in Wrinkly's Save Cave it's not needed to wait for the "ding" sound. what's needed then? when you enter the cave for the second time, she can't say "Helo there, it's me - Mrs. Wrinkly Kong!", 65 frames faster! ///here's the first wip, but regrettably the banana bonus here will be slower; http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1446473191/Dooty-DKC3-105p.smv but not much, I'm doing lots of tests to find the best possible luck on Riverside Race.

Thank you ElectroSpecter, looks like a restart of the run is really needed, there's too much mistakes to ignore. /um... would you mind to send me your test of this stage? I'm trying, but I'm always crashing if I don't slow down :(

Thankyou, I just finished my previous attempt; http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1673193526/Dooty-DKC3-105p.smv it's not simple to redo a game like that, so if there's some more mistakes, please, point them out and I'll try to fix. /but, if you guys think it's not necessary to redo the run because of some frames, I won't complain :)

Thankyou, I'm redoing the whole thing, but I need an extra motivation; my nickname on the credits! so, here's the deal; the nickname is now Dooty. all of Tompa's improvements will be present. ElectroSpecter suggested to not collect the Bear Coin in Murky Mill, I'll do this. I'll try to manipulate the Banana Bonuses better, it's not so hard after all. and most important; I'll not post wips, otherwise Tompa will find more improvements! (just kidding, I'll post a new wip after each boss battle)

wow, thats quite a lot of improvements! but I'll not be able to implement them all by myself, even reusing almost everything I did, it's still lots of work to make it sync, redo the banana bonuses and boss battles, unless someone join me to redo the movie, I'll leave it like that.

why you fixed the improvement in the second bonus of Bobbing Barrel Brawl
no, I didn't, it's still the same as in the previous wip. /hey, wait a minute, your improvements, they gave me better luck with some of the banana bonuses! never mind what I said before, I'll implement them right away, I don't want this run to be submited with so many mistakes, thankyou Tompa.

Thankyou SpiDeY, the first possible frame to enter Criss Kross Cliffs, Tyrant Twin Tussle and Swoopy Salvo is not perfect, but waiting is not giving me better luck in any way. on the other hand, the "Boomer Glitch" saved a lot of time! I'm doing Knautilus at the moment, testing a change in the strategy and I'll post the final run in a day or two.

Okay, but if you change your mind, here's a small update to the "wip"; http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/593829711/Dooty-DKC3-105p.smv sorry about Ropey Rumpus, but it's the best I could do, 64 frames slower... /I'm at Stampede Sprint now, and there's three banana bonus here. so what? well, I'm not going to manipulate them here, instead I'll collect the bananas as fast as I can and call it good, otherwise I'd spend an eternity here, sorry. //not so bad, good luck over all, but Criss Kross Cliffs is giving me a hard time to manipulate.

I'm also voting Yes, it was one of my favourite arcade games back in the day. (yes, I have a strange taste for games...) but this one is pretty well played, and I see no reason to vote otherwise.

A sacrifice near the last rope and a different way to collect the DK coin saved those frames. Demolition Drain Pipe synced with the test run, even playing as Dixie! but I must sacrifice her to reuse Ripsaw Rage. Fortunately the banana bonus here don't need to be manipulated... /Mekanos is done, but it's time to face the most difficult banana bonus of the game; http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/718410875/Dooty-DKC3-105p.smv not only the bananas, but also the barrels must be manipulated, so it may take a while until another wip. //Thank God, only three frames of delay and perfect luck! I just need to take care of Bleak to say farewell to K3. //I'm doing Creepy Caverns at the moment, and I'm pleased with my luck so far, not bad, not bad at all :)

Thanks guys, I'm also trying to manipulate the banana bonus, but I'll focus more on the stages, the bonus in Fire Frenzy, for example is 10 frames slower, but the stage itself ended 190 frames faster.

Sorry guys, but I am no longer working in this TAS, I'm just editing the test run, I'll try to apply your suggestions though. /I think I owe a better explanation of why I lost my motivation to TAS this game; every time I save one or two frames, a banana bonus steals those frames along with many more :( I'm still editing my test run, but I'm not going to redo any stage from scratch, just to hand over any saved frame to a lousy banana bonus.

this generates 12 frames of lag, and even worse, Nibbla comes to chomp my ass... the rest of your tips are indeed faster, but I may apply those in a future run, sorry.

I was overcome by those banana bonuses, so it will be just a "Director's Cut" version of my test run from now on, here's a wip: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1534584974/Dooty-DKC3-105p.smv

Thanks, I just tested it, but still the same (bad) luck, first banana in the top right corner and the last banana in the top left corner. /weird, even unassisted the luck is still the same, I guess those banana bonuses were programed by K. Rool himself... //bested by a test run? maybe... ///38 frames slower than the test run, sorry but it's the best I can do since there's no (known) way to manipulate this bonus. ////I'm doing Riverside Race now, and I can't complain about my luck on the banana bonus here; not perfect, but almost all bananas, except the penultimate, spawn in appropriate places, not bad :) (some of them can be manipulated by turning in the opposite direction for one frame)

um... I'm forced to agree with him too; every time Enguard pokes one of those Gleamin' Breems he bounces back and loses all of his descending speed, so it's better to leave them alone. /Speaking of leaving alone, the green banana bonus in Barrel Shield Bust-Up can not be manipulated, no matter how many frames I wait, the last banana is always in the top left corner.

about warp barrels, I'm not sure if it would be possible, Squeals On Wheels for example, would take twice as long to complete without the warp. but poke the Gleaming Breems in Floodlit Fish looks doable without wasting too much time, I'll see what I can do, thanks for your ideas, and sorry about the warps.

Just a small correction; ElectroSpecter is not working on this run anymore, sadly. People seem to like my test run, so I'll reuse some parts of it while improving some other parts, this way I can progress faster since I'm working alone now. /ElectroSpecter's idea of using Dixie in Skida's Row saved ~15 frames even she being slower than Kiddy in this stage; there's less lag near the flag in the previous stage, and there's no need to do a normal switch in the next one.

about the prgress, ElectroSpecter is doing Door Stop Dash at the moment, but also testing Wrinkly's Save Cave, looks like we don't have to save the game, just talk to Wrinkly.

@ boct1584; thankyou, but um... better not; ALAKTORN is more than right, a proper run is under construction right now. Tompa is also right; I didn't manipulated the Green Banana Bonus, just finished them, the boss fights are reused or adapted and are far from optimal, the Boomer glitch was discovered after the completion of the test run, some Bear Coins will be skipped while others collected, the movement on the map will be changed amongst other small things, so don't expect this test run to be submitted... but he is wrong about his contribution to this test run, as I reused alot of his and ElectroSpecter's wips. (up to Low G. Labyrinth)

Dooty, After some testing, I'm assuming you encountered the glitch where the game freezes if you try to enter a different Wrinkly's Cave. The fix for this would be to save just one time at any point in the run (probably fastest to do this right at the beginning when you enter her cave automatically). This will prevent the freeze from happening and you can just enter Wrinkly's Cave in Mekanos instead of returning the Gyrocopter and stuff.
Yes, and it also fixed the 102% issue; http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/825492350/DKCIII.smv I guess we are good to go now; - the nickname will be TAS - we must save when we enter the first Wrinkly house - we must collect 55 Bear Coins (but the Tyrant Twin Tussle one instead of Rompey Rumpus) - do the Boomer trick and then the bartering I guess we all agree with that, but what if we each do the same stage at the same time and then continue from the fastest one, and then the next stage and so on? I think it would be faster to complete our run this way. /I started it anyway, and I'll send it to you as soon as I finish Lakeside Limbo.

Okay, but there's a small problem; I just tested the Swanky's Sideshow and it didn't gave me those 3%, but watching the Special Ending twice did! any ideas?

Yes, you're right, just Boomer will benefit from this trick, since we must enter his hut more than once anyway.

exit the second bonus with Squitter or Squawlks, pass the no animal sign a little higer and then hover above Ellie's barrel, but there's no way to do this stage without Ellie.

Another strange thing; the flower we must give to Bramble only appears after the shell is given to Barnacle, so we must alter the route of Banana Birds too. I'm glad I finish this test run, it would be a pain to find this stuff out after a couple of months of hard work, and then redo the whole thing...

Thanks a lot, I was about to give up. @ ElectroSpecter; - Ellie's barrel must be used. - I guess we just need 50 Bear Coins to buy the mirror, exit the the bear house before the counter reaches zero then enter again to buy the shell. - about Boomer, it's possible to pay for the last explosion the same way; exit before the counter reaches zero.
