The game Link to video Genpei Touma den is an arcade multi-genre game, that contains platforming, fighting, and top down playstyles. The story follows of a Samurai who is resurected and is sent to destroy the monarchy or something. There is currently an unoptimized TAS that misses some obvious tricks, but should serve as a good refrence. (alternate Nico link for those who prefer it) Checksums for the PCE ROM file

Important note In order to defeat the final boss, you need to collect 3 sacred items, a Magmenta, a mirror, and a sword. According to the Walkthrough, there are two places you can get the Magmenta and Mirror, but only one place you can get the sword. Keep this in mind when doing the routing for this game. Tips
  • Divide the tasks. Everyone has own strengths and weaknesses. Make your team members work on different jobs in order to improve efficiency. This is crucial.
  • Keep in contact. Use a private and secure chat group of your choice to talk with your teammates about your progress, discoveries, ideas, and share your files.
  • Play it a lot first. Game mechanics are easier to understand by playing the game casually, with some code cheating if necessary. Start TASing when you feel that you know enough.
  • Take note of everything. Any trick and glitch may come useful in a way or another, even if it does initially not seem. Also remember that your discoveries may come useful after the contest.
  • Try anything. Even after you've finished TASing the game, use the remaining time to try and improve the run. A sudden discovery can turn the tide of the contest.
  • Don't procrastinate You may make mistakes. However, you have the ability to fix these mistakes but only if you give yourself the time to be able to.
  • Don't give up. there is still always the chance for motivation to plummet. Try to keep at it even if you hit a roadblock.

Since MUGG expressed interest in joining but there was no teams available at the time, I’m giving him permission to join team 5 after the contest starts if he does not confirm participation before the contest starts. So I finally sat down and watched the full run and I really like it. I think the idea of using 2 players instead of one makes the run more entertaining. while I dont know much about execution in terms of pacifisim, I think this should definitely be published and obsolete the 1 player pacifist tas. yes vote, and great job Soig.

this looks decent enough. however I'd like to see what it might look like for gameplay.

the thing is I dont know if there's an inconsistent ending input that can be used for the final boss, like if rng cause some ending input to not work. if it turns out that it's the case then I can change it. though thinking about it now, it might make more sense to change it now, and later if teams want to, change it back to auto-pilot mode.

for now I'm leaving it at last input (so auto-pilot), but if teams want it changed near the end of the contest I'd be happy to change it.

Somthing that really bothers me with movies made on FCEUX is the color pallet is too bright. compared to bizhawk and console, this is what Dirty Harry (for example) looks like: FCEUX: Bizhawk: Console: as you can see, bizhawk is much more accurate to console than FCEUX is. now there is an option in FCEUX that can change the pallet. Under "Config->Pallet", you can check a box that says "NTSC Color emulation". checking the box gives you these comparsons: FCEUX (with NTSC color emulation enabled): Bizhawk: Console: while it's not entirely the same, you can still see it looks much better and more accurate to console. I also think you can edit the pallet a bit to change up the colors a bit. with this said, I'd like to know if this has ever been discussed before in regards to publications, this is also unlikely to affect sync (and it would be extremely stupid if it did), so I dont see why we cant use it. Thoughts?
