Finally, I've gotten to the final bowser with 16 stars. I just had to prove to myself that this was possible. The video he does is Tool Assisted right? He uses save states and slowdowns? I'm going to try to make a time attack on this without using any of that. Just for kicks. I'll aim for 30 minutes.

Nope, it works on the real console. If you have an N64, try it. Catch MIPS, but ignore his star. Carry him to the door, and stand directly in the middle of the door's hinge, facing it straight on. Get as close as you can. Now press Z. If done correctly, Mario will be inside the door. It takes a bit of practice to get into the door consistently, and even more practice to be able to pull MIPS through it, but it's doable. I've done the 16 stars run on my own N64, though nowhere near as fast as this. For videos of actual humans doing the same stunt, visit Speed Demos Archive.
Alright thanks, I figured out how to get inside the door, but I'm facing the other way. I'm going to work on this a bit until I can figure it out.

I still can't understand how he gets through the door with the rabbit. Is this only avalable through emulator since the graphics might be slightly altered?

I'm not totally familar with TAS and such, but I have a question. One think always irked me when I watched this video. How come in the first bowser hallway, the picture and the end of the corridor was Bowser. Isn't it supposed to start as Peach then turn into bowser as you fall into the trap hole? Did he hack the game in some way? Or what?
