SF2 is the bombbb! My favorite fighting game of all time! Ryu/Ken: Took me a while to get all their special moves motions down consistently. But now I rule with them. Fireball spamming and shoryuken countering FTW. Guile: He was my favorite character when I first started playing the game. I love backfisting to snuff fireballs. Dhalsim: He has a sick distance game. Once you memorize which kicks/punches to use in which situations, you will improve a lot with Dhalsim. Rarely I even get to throw a full-screen slow fireball, teleport behind my opponent and then cheese them with a throw. E. Honda: I love playing as Honda. You constantly need to find a way to safely stay close to your opponent. Once you knock them down or corner them, crossup with the body splash then mixup between throwing them on landing, and hundred-hand slapping them for massive chip damage. The head-butt also works as a great anti-air move against certain characters. Blanka: I play a very crazy Blanka game. Always fun! Vega: I make good use of his long-reaching claws and mix up the landings of the claw dives.

I played the competition cartridge way back when Blockbuster had the tourney. I placed first locally! I won free rentals for a few months (woot).

I hope other runners don't look at this and think "hey, they did a TAS on 4 games, I'll do one on 6!" or anything even resembling copy-catting. To me, these runs are neither entertaining (beyond a "wow done on one controller" mindset) nor showcase inhumanely skillful playing. They are just a show-a-friend a 30 second clip, then never view it again.

I doubt that's the #1 reason. They might say it is, but I guarantee the #1 reason is they don't want someone to submit a tool-assisted run and have it passed as a legitimate speed-run.

It seems I'm the only one experiencing desync issues with this run? I tried both Metroid (U) and Metroid (U) [!], both with the exact right check-sums. They both desync for me the 2nd time you wedge yourself through a red door using a critter. Samus just stands next to the red door after then for a couple seconds taking another hit or two, then you reset and everything seems fine again. But within 20 seconds Samus dies and I see the 'Game Over' screen.

I played it for a while but didn't have the patience to figure out how to use the magnets with the blocks the right way and gave up. Instead I spent most of the time ice skating.

I'm currently playing at Full Tilt, but I've played hundreds of hours on PokerStars as well. I usually play $11-$33 SNGs.

Wow.. that game was much shorter than I remembered. I beat it in like 30 minutes. The bosses patterns are really easy to pick-up on and the levels are fairly straight-forward. It's obvious what ninja you need to use at each part and the regular enemies are easy. I wonder how many lives and continues I wasted as a kid playing this game? In fact, I don't remember ever beating the game as a kid. I never made it through the last few battles where you have to use the same-color ninja. Ah well, was fun while it lasted.

Okay, I played more of Shinobi and it still didn't seem the same. Some of the sounds and graphics looked similar, but it didn't seem right. Then I found there was a Shinobi II for GG, and that was it! So the game I was looking was was Shinobi II. HOORAY!! Now I wonder if it'll be as cool as when I played it ten years ago...

It's been nearly 10 years since I've played the game, so I don't remember the details. I don't recall if you start with one ninja and have to rescue the others. I'm starting to think it might have been Shinobi after all... but I really don't remember that first stage. From what I've read about GG Shinobi, you do rescue the other ninjas with different abilities and you can switch between them in the pause menu. Either the game I had was a total ripoff of this, or it was Shinobi! I'll have to play it more to find out for sure.

The controls were a lot more responsive than TMNT (nes) :D And the ninjas were not turtles here. They looked like your stereotypical ninjas, just in different colored outfits (I know there was at least a red, and a yellow ninja, perhaps green and blue too). I think one of them had the special ability to climb on walls, so you had to change to him in some areas.

I remember when I owned a Sega Game Gear (no idea what happened to it BTW) I had a few games. One of them was a ninja game, but it wasn't Shinobi or Ninja Gaiden. I don't remember too many details from the game, except you could change between I think four different colored ninjas who all had different weapons and abilities. Any ideas from this vague description? edit: Found it! I was wrong, it was part of the Shinobi series - Shinobi II.

Ninja Gaiden 1 for NES has always been one of the most frustrating games I've ever played. Those f*ckin orange flying ninjas throwing stars and those damn birds screw me up ten billion times! I was about to break my controller after dying for the thousandth time on stage 6-2. Oh, and I did another one of my patented "lets see what happens if I do this after I kill the boss..." so I was given the pleasure of re-doing the stage somewhere around the 4th or 5th stage. A couple times you probably will notice I got really pissed off after dying and played "on tilt" (poker term for making stupid plays due to frustration and impatience). I'd love to see someone else try a run through of this game! SOOOO FRUSTRATINGGGG!!! I haven't played Zelda 2 since I was a kid, and only started playing it again recently while bored in the office (at work), using a java nes emulator (NESCafe) so I didn't have to download anything. After I make a sandwich, I'm going to record myself playing it from the start. WARNING: I do not know where I'm going after the first palace! Let's see how long I can tolerate recording myself and dying while wandering around... edit: Recorded myself... fooled around a few times and at the end wanted to test something out. Well, I found out "it worked" but uhm... I didn't want to have to go through the first palace again after that. And is it just me, or does the hit detection suck balls in this game? I don't know which rom I used, it's simply called Zelda2.nes. I just watched the two short-SMVs you posted. I liked the use of the shortcut in the Champ one. The Lapper one I didn't find as interesting. I don't have the dedication to try to figure out how to optimize RRR runs on each track, but I'm very interested to see someone pull it off. I'm looking forward to seeing more from you.

Against the 3rd (or 4th?) boss, the dude who jumps around and swings that huge saber thing, I can't figure out how to reproduce what you did. I notice you're right next him punching and not taking any hits. I'm not sure what you do there, I always take a bunch of hits. Is this easily reproducible without tool-assist?

Meh. The Angry Nintendo Nerd had a good idea, but his execution sucks. He clearly believes these videos are entertaining - they are not a "joke". If it were a joke, he wouldn't continue making more and more with the same approach.
