Just wondering what's the rupee route? I thought of getting 18 from the rocks‚ 15 from three blue rupees and 2 from the bushes close to the rock circles‚ but maybe throwing 2 more rocks is faster than getting the blue rupee behind the house?

Basically when a game wants to randomize something (an enemy pattern, the damage that an attack will deal, etc...) it checks the value of a RAM address and acts differently depending on the value. Let's say there's 256 possible values, if the value is 17 you will get a critical hit, and if it's 58 you'll miss (this is a quite simplified example obviously)

Yes vote! Category name seems bad though‚ since you could just fall in the first pit of the game and get the same screen.

I don't think it saves time in the TAS since you don't have to get ISG to do the Skulltula trick, but it might be faster in RTA.

I think you're talking about any% ABC, while Synx thought you were talking about pure any%.

Well my last baby grab was terribly optimized‚ just didn't have the time to go back and improve it :p

I'm the only one who used a trick in the beginning of each stage to accelerate faster, it saves 9 frames according to Tompa.
How does it work? The best way I found to begin a level was to keep holding Right+B during the text boxes between each stages (or the bible text)‚ speed started to increase earlier if I did that (x speed is actually the only RAM address I bothered searching xD)

Nice to see you got it to sync even though I used 1.3 :D So I think I lost quite a bit of time at the beginning of the second level. On my first attempt I could get the "animation skip" but then after 50 min I realized you could run... So I restarted the whole thing and couldn't get the trick for some reason x) If I had enough time I would have spent more time optimizing the baby grab in the last level but well, I'm really happy with what I did for my first full TAS :p

I hope we'll see a TAS of the "glitchless" RTA category. Having only this run and the 151 Pokemon one sounds bad to me (even though this should obsolete primorial_soup's run)

I think what lost him is that he got hit by a keese. Otherwise I think you can clip back in bounds in the other side of the fence.

I guess it's because it uses the PAL version which should be slower than NTSC. Why did you chose to do this on the PAL version?

[ One of the rules on this site is that a TAS must beat ALL RECORDS, including any RTA records. If it isn't doing so, that is a problem.
The SMW TAS community consider the ACE TAS as a TAS of the RTA any%‚ as they both use the cloud. Some people don't agree‚ but unless new people start TASing the game, you won't get an optimized "warps" TAS using the cloud.

The cloud glitch requires manipulation of bytes in order for it to not crash.
How can RTA runners be so consistent at keeping it then? Anyway‚ I don't wanna restart the debate. I (and others) would like to see a TAS using the cloud‚ the best SMW TASers don't. I'll just wait I guess. This has been debated for a long time

My old hope is also to record human input and replay it, but I dunno how to make a fun presentation out of it.
We might replay the SMB WR‚ as it was played on FCEUX. It's not too long and it would be a kind of joke, like "SMB WR was tied at AGDQ!"

Why did you cancel this? This could have been published until you made an improvement.

While what you're saying is interesting, what's the point of making a 2-month old debate revive?

So I agree with Scepheo‚ many people (including me) will give a yes to optimized movies even if the aren't really entertaining

Why isn't the WR published here? Does it only exist as a nicovideo or something like that?

A lot of useless slowdowns, gets two fireworks in the first three levels... And the hack doesn't bring anything new compared to the hacks already published on the site. No vote.

I'm pretty sure there's a non-Steam version. Anyway‚ I watched some runs‚ and it looks like a pretty cool speed game :D

I'm rooting for Germany but I know that a lot of French people are gonna root for Argentina because of the traumatism of the 1982 France-Germany match.
