Uses RAM manipulation to achieve it. Not even in the same ballpark of what I'm talking about.
This run uses RAM manipulation to get a better IGT than the current IGT run.

Well we already published 1 frame improvements‚ so I think this is an enough big improvement to be published. Voting yes‚ however Dooty should be added to the authors.

Obviously yes vote‚ but I found this run really less entertaining than the ACE run‚ which was really different from the other SM runs‚ showcasing some funny glitches such as the pause glitch (I dont remember the exact name). I don't think this should obsolete the ACE run. As feos would say‚ 'moons obsoletions don't work like that'.

Well... if low% is the fastest category then it's any%. So 0 stars is any%. 70 stars is any% "no BLJ".

I read some discussions and submissions about Super Mario Bros. and Mega Man 1, and noticed that "subpixels" or "subpixel value" are really important to optimize a TAS of platformer game. What are actually these subpixels?

Could have been funny (at least vaultable) but it looks way too suboptimal. Voting no.

TASvideos is in something of a state of civil war over this particular issue.
I thought there had been a kind of consensus.

I don't see any problemes with having more ACE runs‚ since runs without it will always exist. Do you really think that people will say : 'Ok‚ we have a 1 minute run where normal gameplay has totally disappeared‚ I don't think we need any other runs for this game' ? I don't think son.

"Fastest category" is subjective when people can think that the run isn't "legit" (like when heavy glitches or memory corruption are used). I saw a lot of people saying in YT comments "cool but you shouldn't have used glitches". I never saw anyone saying "cool but you shouldn't have used warps".

I really, really don't like the fact that you want to label warped runs "warps". I mean, 2 players isn't a big speed/entertainement tradeoff (it's even faster than 1 player sometimes), but warpless is definitively one. And it's easy to understand that, if there is a warpless run, and a faster run, this one uses warps.

I don't agree with this. The goal of a speedrun is to reach as fast as possible a point where the game can be considered ended. This point can be the death of the last boss, the end screen of the game... But the way you reach this point doesn't matter (except you're not allowed to use cheats, passwords, etc). So of course ACE TASes shouldn't obsolete old runs (a perfect example is the recent ACE Super Metroid TAS), but they must be timed in the same way that "normal" runs. Look at the recent Pokémon Silver TAS : without all the setup before the ACE, the run would take less than 5 min (probably even less than 2 min), and would be perfectly unintersting.

The main issue with glitched/any% categories is that it would lead to very ambiguous 'low-glitch' categories. For example‚ if someone ever makes a 'no memory corruption' OOT TAS (i.e nom RBA/WW)‚ how would it be labelled? I mean‚ it wouldn't be the most glitched category‚ but it would still skip 8 of the 10 dungeons of the game. So the best category name would be 'no memory corruption'‚ i.e actual naming convention.

Does this work for flash games already compiled in a .exe ? Because a TAS of The Binding of Isaac would be awesome.

That was optimal, some parts were quite entertaining but I couldn't understand anything from the submission. Anyway, still yes vote.

I agree with Warp. I usually vote yes even if the run wasn't so entertaining‚ but is imo worth published. I'd like to be able to make the distinction in the poll itself.

Sure it should obsolete the previous any% run, sure this is not enough and it's a good thing that someone is working on a 100% ! But in my opinion we should have a "deathless" category (which would mean no gravitron skip as well) that would show more of the game. It would be an intermediate category, such as "11-exit" SMW category or even "warpless" NSMB category. Anyway, yes vote. This was awesome. Maybe you should edit the RTA timing in the submission, sounds inacurrate.
I thought the death was only used to skip the intro. How much more of the game would forgoing death but using the text storage show compared to this run?
Oh, I though the death after the text box was required to perform the glitch but it seems that it's only used to go to the teleporter faster. So maybe a "deathless, glitchless" category would be ok?

What about it is inacurrate?
The TAS is only 1 second faster than the RTA?

Hello‚ I would be really interested in TASing this game :D Since the last WIPs desync with 0.9.10‚ I began to redo the World 1‚ but I saw you talking about several tricks that I didn't fond any explanations for. So could you please answer some of my questions ? - What is the "shell-speed gaining trick" ? I understood this was something about holding a direction while wanting to go to the opposite‚ but how does it work ? - What is the trick with the fireball ? I didn't really understood‚ firing a fireball while jumping saves time ? - How does the RNG work ? I saw you talking about double jumps or something like that‚ but I didn't understand very well xD
