Here's an opinion. Stop the wobbling. At least don't overdo it. Anyway, very nice. I don't really get what's going on with that glitch and how you're going to save time with it in upcoming levels, but I'm looking forward to seeing more.

It is indeed faster. It can still be improved another 5 frames though, I'm assuming from the title screen/world map (I didn't check). Not sure about original though, wasn't the first half basically exactly what I did in my 96 exit run? Not that I'm blaming you, being original in YI2 is pretty much impossible these days :)

No worries :) Anyway, I should probably let you know you won't be improving JXQ's 11 exit run if you let 5 frames go to waste like this, his run is incredibly well optimized already.

mrz, Good luck with that, it'll be difficult as hell, let me tell you. Read and reread the supermariotrickspage lots and lots of times. Pay special attention to the hopping glitch, fadeout lag and memory addresses. You'll need to master it all. Reading the last 20 or so pages in this topic would probably be helpful too since there's been lots of fairly advanced discussion going on. Edit: And yes you can end YI2 36 frames faster than you do. Make sure to always optimize movement on the world map. Frame advance is obviously a must at all times.

Definitely. We wouldn't want the noobs mwl is too arrogant to help having to read through all this junk now would we?

Clearly there are two very differing opinions here, and all this arguing won't make anyone change their opinion. Therefore I suggest this compromise: What if we used forward backwalking when walking long distances (examples would include walking across Hyrule Field), and regular backwalking at all other times? As I see it, this is a win-win situation and should leave everybody happy.

You don't want to change something that will save seconds, but you are against backwalking that has the camera facing forward which costs mere frames?
What you need to realize is that this will be a long speedrun and those "mere frames" will quickly add up to probably over a second.

I definitely hope you finish this. I played this game a lot as a kid, I think it's very good. I watched the old submission Truncated linked to, and while it's not the most suitable game for TASing, I think a 2p run has much greater potential.

It's a well known fact that "online IQ test" per definition means "bullshit". You won't find a valid one.

There's a much shorter route avaliable, Castle 2 -> Vanilla Dome 1b -> Vanilla Secret 1b -> Star World 2

So after doing thos fixes in the beginning of HC2, I can only really afford to speed the boss up by ~30 frames.
It should work to do everything before the pillar as fast as possible, and wait for it to get into position when you get there. Even if it's not really faster, that would raise less questions, since it's obvious you're waiting for it there instead of being inexplicably slow on a boss way back in a previous level.
Stylistically, I feel that the less time spent with no motion, the better. For instance spending an extra second defeating a miniboss which, even with the extra time only appears on the screen for about 30 frames, I may not be doing that specific thing as fast as possible, but I'll be in motion. Whereas if I beat the boss as fast as possible and then wait for the pillar, I'll be standing still for an extra second. For me, and for the average viewer, the version which doesn't wait for the pillar is more entertaining, and shows more planning, than the one which beats the boss as fast as possible. I will, however, redo the boss so it gets beaten in just the right number of frames to be the same speed as waiting for the pillar.
Just wanted to throw my opinion in here upthorn. I've been wondering why that boss has been beaten so slowly every time I've watched this, and it bugs me that SprintGod is so very clearly faster here. If I qualify as an average viewer, I'd much prefer beating it quickly and then waiting where the obvious wait is. Edit: It's kinda like whoeveritwas's suggestion for the Sonic 1 emerald run (where real time was a priority over in-game time), to lose frames here and there throughout each level necessary instead of having a long wait at the goal. That suggestion was pretty much shot down by everyone, and for good reason I think.

Yes. However, I don't think you'd see many math majors get excited if suddenly every job in that particular area became unavaliable. Sure nothing is permanent and they can go back to school and major in something else, but yeah.

Well, if they kill themselves, no one will be able to accuse the government of genocide. ON A SERIOUS NOTE: Serj, you really should give more thought to your actions. Surely your life doesn't just rely on online gambling or whatever for meaning. BTW, what are you scared about?
How do you know? There certainly are lots and lots of people this is true for.

You're usually not someone who throws rational discussion aside and lower yourself to making worthless petty crap comments. I do understand, though, that american politics is a subject that often brings this out in people.

If the list of things near the top of the first link is true and not exaggerated, that does sound pretty damn crazy. I'm guessing it's not really quite as bad as that list is making it out to be though. Hopefully.

A good technical score by itself completely misses the point of turning the game around entertainment. And yes this is intended to be a challenge.
Sure, I'm not disagreeing with this. However, as I just said, I think it's an impossible challenge :)
