Agreed that this doesn't seem to be "3D"; if you watch carefully she's restricted to one dimension on the stage, left and right. Also, it appears the camera switches sides of the stage, and she's shown as always facing the camera. I'm guessing it's just a screen with a projector trained on it. I've seen local theater troupes do that. Tangentially, this is from Japan. I find it extremely creepy because of that.

Thanks for figuring all this out. It's too bad most stuff is event driven rather than item driven. I still really wonder if upgrading items is the only thing we can do with 99 potions, but for the moment it seems this is the best possible route.
You can upgrade items, spawn kaiser claws, and bug your lead character. That's it. It'd be nice if monsters could drop more than one of a given item. You could power through the rings and swords much faster to get the gear, eye, and swords faster.

Okay, so, just completed the game with a glitched team. Unfortunately a lot of stuff seems event flag driven instead of item driven like I hoped. Either way, here seems to be the route. Earth Shrine -> Seal Cave -> Road to summit -> Tozas -> Nepto's shrine (bypassed with glitched eye) -> Owen Tower (with glitched Toad spell) -> Underground Lake -> Fire Cave -> Eldest Tree -> Water Cave Amur Sewer -> Goldor's Mansion -> Unne's Cave (with glitched lute) -> Ancient Ruins -> Cave of Darkness -> End Game (with glitched Sylx Key) I didn't bother with fiddly bits like "Talk to Cid to get airship", or sort out any final details like party configuration and how to go about getting the needed stuff for bugging the game. The next step would be planning how and when to do the upgrading.

You can give Cid the Time Gear as soon as you reach Canaan, I think.
Sadly, this is not the case, it would seem. I just did some testing, and it appears you can't skip as much of the game as I thought. 1. Cid won't accept the time gear until Hyne is dead. Until then he stays in the bedroom. 2. You can't fight Hyne until you've completed the fire cave. 3. You can't get to the fire cave until you've returned the horn to the dwarves. 4. You can't get onto the horn pedestal until you've beaten Guzco. (this one really ticks me off) 5. You can't get to the dwarves until you've completed the tower of Owen. So as far as the floating continent is concerned, the only sequence breaking you can do is skip Nepto's shrine, ignore the gurgans, and not bother returning to Argass Castle. Otherwise you're just playing the route normally. So disappointing... I haven't tested the rest of the overworld very much yet, but it seems it'll be more complicated than I thought because I forgot that there's a strip of mountain blocking the Sylx Tower and your ship is tied down until you defeat Goldor. Hopefully the sequence is going to be sewer -> mansion -> Unne's cave -> ancient ruins -> end of game. Sadly it also appears that the statues are event driven as well; hacking all four fangs into my inventory didn't allow me to destroy any of them. I'll need to do some further testing on this. Still, so disappointing... As far as money is concerned: Yeah, foraging for stuff to sell would be faster than grinding for potions. We'll have to look at what can be sold, how much you get from them, and how many can be dropped in the meantime (if that's even needed). Once you have the potions handy you can spawn a stack of kaiser claws easily enough and sell those for any other monetary concerns, like the equipment you'll need to upgrade.

Recently I've been hooked into taking a look at the upgrade glitch - what makes it tick, etc. What I've found has been quite illuminating. Practically every single method stated on the internet is far more complicated than is needed, requiring a bunch of items to be in specific spots. The truth is you only need two items to pull it off, the potions and the item to be upgraded. And they don't need to be in any particular spot. And you can upgrade more than one item per round of combat. I'll probably post more in the nearish future, probably as an added resource page. All I can say is that, after poking around the memory, I know exactly what is going on. Also of interest is the potential to skip portions of the game this way. You can glitch Nepto's eye into existence and skip the accompanying dungeon. I'm looking into when you can get Cid to take the time gear, which should let you get off the floating continent real quick like. If everything works out, I believe you can beat the game soon after talking to the water crystal! Edit: Hmm, okay, I don't *quite* have a grasp on everything. Can't seem to bug kaiser claws into existence again, although I've done so before. Edit Jr.: Ah, that's it! You need two potions. And I see how that one works too...

I haven't the foggiest, but your question certainly impressed our IRC goers.
[18:27] <Grunt> That's simultaneously a newbie question and a rather advanced game-specific question...

Nice! I was probably going to tackle this myself if JPC wouldn't be so dang slow for me. Anyway, it looks like you can improve level 1 a tiny bit around 38s by waiting until the top step before jumping so Hocus doesn't have to wait to reach the top of his arc in order to reach the next set of stairs.

Furry nothing, this is the internet: male until proven female. Also, I rather miss the Agent's auto screen capping. A lot of the animations in this title reminded me of Krion Conquest. Am I the only one who finds it disturbing that her "end of level" giggle is used for getting hit as well?

What does it mean when a boy wants to dress up like a woman (even if it's a fictional woman)?
So it's okay for a girl to dress up as Link, but not for a guy to dress up as Samus? My own contribution... Link to video Is it youtube? Yes. Is it crappy? Yes. Why is it crappy? That puny little gate wouldn't hold a ferret for more than two seconds! Gah... >_< Also, taken from the comments section of this video: "I get aroused every time i watch this video!!! love it!"

Probably poor animal choice, but ferrets are categorically incapable of being serious.

Yet another thread suggesting we overhaul and revamp the voting system because one or two people insist on going on witch hunts over no votes. Come on, guys, this is SO 2008.

Third one's from a Sonic title. Judging from the popularity trends around here, I'm guessing Sonic 3.

You know, I wasn't impressed. The questionnaire was full of vaguely defined concepts and false dichotomies; so often I wanted to respond, "Depends on the situation" or "It would help if I knew what you were talking about". The results read similar to a horoscope, specific enough to sound plausible but vague enough to apply to almost anyone really. Either way, this is what I got.
ISFPs can be over-accepting of others and need to be more skeptical at times. Their need to please everyone makes them reluctant to critique any one but themselves. This excessive desire to trust others makes them targets for hurt feelings and disadvantaged relationships. Long-range planning and adherence to policies can be their downfall. When the freedom to act on their instincts is limited, ISFPs become bored, restless, and passively defiant. They are skilled at seeming to comply with regulations while annoying those who cause them distress. If stress continues to build, ISFPs will penalize others through self-degrading behavior. This behavior has the tendency to divert accountability away from themselves and onto others who they blame for their plight. This restores the excitement back into ISFP's lives while at the same time getting even with their accused oppressors. Rationalizing their responsibilities, stressed-out ISFPs attempt to find their way out of unstimulating circumstances through seeking inappropriate thrills. I think at one point it described me as "artsy". A few points are good, but overall I'm not sure it fits. Or I'm just in denial Whatever.

You know, watching this, I just have to ask myself, why don't we ever get games with such a solid sound scheme as this? I don't think I've heard a game sound so awesome as this in the longest time. Thank you for taking me back to my childhood! Oh, and the run was nice, too. I have played it a lot, but I'm not sure I followed entirely, but still.
