I think this game got brought up about a year ago. Was it here? Was it IRC? Was it that forum I'm always lurking at? I don't recall. :( Fun as a novel distraction and little else I find. Always annoying when you're stuck as the space invader turret against a bunch of goombas right below you.

Ways to make the game hard to differenciate from a normal speedrun 1) A frame rule, possibly rounding up to a second 2) Delayed actions e.g. pressing a button repeatedly will cause the same actions to happen regardless of how fast you press it 3) Game is entirely pre-determined, so a speedrunner doesn't have to react to any slight variation in events. 4) Jumping does not cause the player to slow down 5) Levels can be completed entirely by holding one direction i.e. right FTW 6) Forced wait for certain automated events e.g. must wait for an elavator to arrive at the same pre-determined time in order to continue 7) Holding buttons can manually skip through texts and cutscenes 8) Falling gravity is weak, with a slow max speed
Super Mario Brothers?

I would upload it myself, but the ending takes it past the 11 minute mark. Feel free.

Cool beans. The interface feels much better now. Thank you. Only issue: Opening the emulator via drag-and-drop won't load the ROM you dragged and dropped anymore. At least you can drag-and-drop onto the emulator window now.

My opinion: If I wanted to watch cutscenes, I would either watch a Let's Play or find the cutscenes by themselves on Youtube. I come here to watch the gameplay get destroyed, so skipping cutscenes whenever possible is greatly appreciated.

Hey, I watched that at my church.
I suspected, based on your location, that you might be a fellow Mormon. This just gives it away. :P On Topic: jimsferret

Basically. I wanted the opening 5-2 to be done with as quickly as possible, so I started in Practice mode, knowing I'd be kicked into Professional at the end of it.

Well, you never chose Professional mode at the start of the game, right?
Right, but it gets kicked into Professional after beating the fly boss. The "PRACTICE" just won't go away.

These guys agree with Mitjitsu. (yes, I know many of you will have issues with this video)

So during playback the emulator will pause and say, "Please insert disc 2," correct? I got that while doing a poor hacking job of a header earlier.

You might want to note that you're still using an old version of FCEU. It desynchs in the wall switch building in the newer non-X versions. Aside from that, you have me quite excited. I've been waiting for and wanting to see this get done! And what's up with those lasers? Grant just walked right through them. O.o

You're missing an "s". I cannot answer without an "s".

You have to admit, it makes for a great conversation piece. ;P This little animation that I threw together a while ago also makes for a fun background. In fact, I've decided to switch over to using it again for the time being.

You get used to it after a while. I have used worse in the past.

Wasn't "Play Hard" featured in Killer Instinct 2? Good submission. You should probably go and cancel Submission 2189 since that one didn't get through.

Yeah, you're wrong. The little "PRACTICE" in the corner doesn't go away, though. Anyway, I've got this. It's been a lot harder than I thought it would be.

one thing though, i noticed you stay far from the metroids when shooting missles at them, whereas if you are close you can shoot missles extremely fast as opposed to being far away, but i noticed even when you are close it takes long for the middle to hit the metroid, why is this?
I'm assuming you're talking about the zetas and omegas. Their hitboxes close up for a while after getting hit, allowing missiles to go right through them for a short period. The alphas and gammas don't behave like this, although shooting too soon won't do any damage. If I was keeping my distance, it was most likely a spacing issue that involved the quick death glitch. Glad you liked it.

All right, sorry about the brief delay. The internet died where I live and I'm going on a stop-gap measure right now. Anyway, here's the fixed.pxm. To go with that, here's a savestate to skip right to Windy City (don't trust the extension, it's slot 5). Now if an admin could update the submission, I would appreciate it. Thank you. In other news, I am insane.
