Ya know, somehow the removal of images on the front page makes things look a *lot* better.

Bolded is arguable, considering topics for many popular games (Mario 64 in particular) tend to sporadically erupt like active volcanoes.

In response to Warp's question about why some runs stir more controversy than others: Allow me to posit* the idea that a lot of it could have to do with some people's attitudes, whether it be the movie maker or some of the viewers, that causes a lot of fuss. I'm sure most of you can think of some examples of this being the case. *Did I use this word correctly?

The Ferret's opinion: I like the look and the color scheme. Very slick and eye pleasing. However, there's just something about the layout that isn't sitting well with me, and for the life of me I can't put my finger on it. I guess part of it is that I like having sidebars of some kind, and this doesn't have any to speak of. Probably because, in my mind, things that control everything should be next to everything instead of above it. I don't know; I have an extremely hard time putting thoughts into words. If push comes to shove, I'll just get used to it.

Well, movies in the past have been published without an AVI/MKV. The original Gunstar Heroes movie didn't have one because such a file wouldn't do the game justice with the encoding techniques that were then standard. If a game nowadays is giving us a similar hassle, why not give it similar treatment?

Eh, might as post it here. I finished up level 2 a good while ago, and you can download it here. I have no interest in going through with the rest of the game because the tomb layouts don't change as much as I thought they would after level 2, so it would pretty much be the same route repeated 8 times with minor adjustments to compensate for whatever. Should anyone wish to finish this, be my guest.

So I *did* completely miss something. Perhaps I should just leave things back in the hands of you experts. :P

Potential problem: Mammoth's level has a heart tank deep under a platform that's barely above the lava pool that doesn't cool off until Penguin is killed. Unless I am *completely* missing something (perhaps you'll have enough health to deal with it), that could definitely throw things out of whack.

(I can't believe I'm actually defending myself over this point) When I made that statement, I was referring to the mood report, where it shows superjupi and I have used the widest variety of the selection, using all but four available as of posting. The rest of you seem to focus on the half that was originally available. ;P

Indeed. In fact, the only other poster to utilize them to the extent I have is superjupi. :P

I'm going to back up sticky here by saying that in no way did I feel slighted by his rating. He said he enjoyed watching it, so why should I give a carp about some silly little numbers? As I've pretty much said earlier this topic, posts trump numbers. Always. Also, I'm going to put on the appearance of back-peddling by saying that I'm actually impressed by how little this place has changed. Remember, I did church service for two years that kept me, for the most part, off the internet (I was allowed to do limited e-mail once a week). Many places on the internet have changed quite drastically during the interim, yet I come here to find that the name was changed from NESVideos to TASVideos, the forum index was changed to double column, the gruefood forum was created, and variable avatars were introduced (which thing I have obviously taken to perhaps too well), but other than that, this place was very familiar. My own house changed more than this place. Heck, most of the changes have occurred after my return. The recommended list was removed (which, apparently, is making a comeback, yay!) and the voting system was overhauled, which has left me unaffected for reasons previously stated. Some people may mention a greater idolization of "perfection" and more drama, but when I think about it, neither of those have changed. I remember being somewhat disturbed by the intense focus on perfecting movies before I left, and I haven't seen much of an increase in that focus. I also remember being annoyed by the rampant anger around here... and people are still as angry as before! So yes, I think these problems have always been around. About the only change that I either haven't come to like or been apathetic towards is the greater insistence on using more and more advanced tools to create these movies. Before I left, it seemed memory watching was rarely used; now it's a standard. Also sneaking in are LUA scripting and dissembling. And the only reason why this leaves me concerned is because it would seem to make it harder for newcomers to come in and show their hands, but since I'm not a newcomer in these times, I lack that perspective and could easily be completely off base here. So, in all, thank you everyone for being so stable! At least I still know my way around here.

How many times you catch and even surpass the roadrunner?
By my count, 11 times caught, four of which were in the first level. I should also mention that none were intentional. The Road Runner just kept being in the wrong place at the wrong time doing the wrong things.

I'm not sure what the appropriate topic to post this is, but this looks close enough. With my Sparkster movie being published, I have been split into two different players on the players list. Edit: Thanks, Doofy!

Haven't you noticed the technical rating is optional? If you don't like it, ignore it. It's that simple.
But then I mention that I ignore the rating system as a whole, and then you chastise me for not speaking up any earlier?* *Possibly because I made mention of a 5-star system while saying such, which I'll admit was probably poorly timed.

Nice! high marks here, but I want to note that I never did get it to sync properly, ended up watching it in your youtube channel.
The current Youtube is the old one. Not sure why it isn't synching up for you. Thanks for watching. Edit: Both submissions have been updated with Youtube videos.

i cant see the run who to apply the ips ?
1. Download it from the site provided. 2. Extract both the .ips and .smc into the same folder. Also extract the .ips file into the folder with save states. 3. Rename the two files so that both share the same filename except for the file extensions; leave those alone. 4. Run the .smc. 5. Profit! If this doesn't work, try a different ROM.

Why didn't you participate in the thread (in the General group) when this exact subject was under discussion (unless I missed something; I can't see any of your posts there)? Nobody raised any big objections about the addition of a decimal to the ratings. I interpreted this to mean that people silently agreed that it's acceptable. (I don't know about Bisqwit, but I assume he thought like that too.) It feels a bit useless to not to participate in the discussion about the feature, but then later complain that the feature sucks.
Mainly because I didn't want to rain on other people's parade. Another factor would be me being unable to competently dissent when everyone else is going, "Yay, yay!" so I just stay silent. The second part is effectively putting words in my mouth. I never said the new system sucks or whatever. The closest thing I said to that was that it was susceptible to witch hunting like the old system; pointing out it has the same weakness is hardly saying it's not worth it. I said that I abstain from using it because I find it too complicated for how I operate. Other people here seem to enjoy it, so they can have at it. Ultimately, it doesn't affect me any because if I watch a movie, I am sure to post about it, and that process is exactly the same regardless of the voting/approval method, and doing so is also worth much more. I suppose that last sentence also contributes to answering your first question: maybe I didn't speak up because I didn't think it mattered that much. Whatever everyone else wants, they can have; whatever happens, I can still post something. So whatever system is in place, I'll use it if I like it and I won't if I don't, but I'll still tell you, "Good job, man!" Edit: I back up moozooh backing up Kyrsimys.

I refuse to take part of the new voting system, I am sure its decent but for god sake, why change something that was so easy for us to use?
Because people went on witch hunts whenever a random "No" vote appeared on a popular submission. Hasn't exactly eliminated the problem. I abstain from using the new system because I personally feel it is unnecessarily complicated as well. 100 gradients? I'm believing less and less in quantifying subjective opinions, especially with that degree of precision. Perhaps a 0-5 rating would work better as it's more universally recognized. *shrug* Either way, a post trumps all.

I am just guessing this because your special weapon changed to something other than the shields in that stage. If those were just the nova bombs, then could you clarify what those are?
Different characters start with different special weapons, but you can pick up other ones in various levels to change them. In this case of this movie he picked up bombs quick enough that you barely notice them. If you listen after the weapons change over, you'll hear a voice sample say, "Thpecial weapon!" That being said, there *is* a glitch that can cause your ship to change over to someone else's in the middle of a level, but from what I can gather it's emulation related.
