Funny? I think this'll be awesome! ;P This isn't really an update, but a discovery. Notice anything weird when watching this movie? I start rapidly changing the weapon, and Samus stops taking damage from the lava! This may mean I won't have to worry about my health when fighting the queen. As for the rest of the route... Feh. I have several choices laid out before me, but none of them work together very well. The places I need to go to are right next to each other, but because the tilesets don't change to what they need to be, I get stuck. :( Anyone have ANY ideas?

Well, if we're into self promotion, I think Cheetahmen 2 was pretty swell. ;P

All I have to say about Galaxy's multiplayer... JFG did it before them. :P

Alrighty, got the first part of the rough draft done. This contains a few route adjustments from the earlier demo, including foregoing the jump boots. Everything you'll see in this is part of the final route I'll use, save for two places where I didn't use the select glitch because it would have been too tedious to use for a test run. This movie introduces an interesting screen wrapping glitch that causes Samus to appear on the other side of the room (I talked about it a few posts back). I'm not sure if it'll be useful in many places, but it was crucial after picking up that last missile pack! Also, I believe the method I used to get to the first missile pack is about one second faster than crawling up the wall. As I said, everything here is part of the final route. Everything from here on out will be experimental, and I'm not sure how much will actually make it in. Enjoy!

So very true, and yet I find it amazing how many people will fight against this sometimes. When RE4 was released, some people complained about how you couldn't move around while targeting. The response others gave them was, "Well, if you could strafe around your foes, where would the sense of tension be?" As you said, tension and difficulty should not feel artificial like that.

Work on the glitched TAS has begun in earnest. As evidence of this claim, I provide you this WIP, which destroys the first metroid and enters the room with the first save post. With the select glitch, this task is accomplished about 36 seconds faster than the current runs. However, I'm going to put the WIP on halt right now, as I have yet to work on various details. From here on out, I'm going to do a rough draft as I finalize the route and various pickups. I'll probably post that in two parts. I'm excited about this. I've been wanting to do this for a few years now, at last, it's getting done! :D Wish me luck! Pirate Sephiroth: Right about now would be a good time to provide a VBM of whatever you are talking about.

Either "," or ".", but I can't remember. Check your hotkey configuration under "Input". It'll be under, "Movie frame count".

Dude, my Daikatana run has been sitting on the bench since February! Other runs I've had took nearly 3/4 of a year to get published. Just sit tight.

Typically, no. It just means it's the version released in North America. A bad ROM would be indicated using the suffix. However, that's not to say that all ROMs missing that suffix are good. The Doki! Doki! Yuuenchi ROM that is commonly distributed lacks it, yet it happens to have corrupted graphics. To ensure it's a good ROM, look for the [!] suffix.

Not all of VGMusic is garbage. They have a really nice remix of the main dungeon from Legacy of the Wizard.

Since this topic has gone from, "Let's praise Brawl!" to, "Let's nitpick it!" I'll throw in yet another pet peeve I have. Whenever you suicide, the last person to have attacked you gets a point. What the heck.

You're incredibly lucky then. It seems everyone else, including my roommate, has lag issues.

The only logical step: Look towards a different emulator. Unfortunately, I know not of any others. :(

Back in the day, the game I was best at was Rayman. I loved it,; knew it inside and out. Once reliable DOSBox tools come out or someone gets Playstation tools going, I call dibs on it!

I think that's sound advice for everyone across the boards. The community as a whole seems to be getting uptight and edgy.

For what it's worth, I have a video demonstrating what a game looks like while being TAS'ed.

From what I understand, it makes no difference. I think Phil found that one out several versions ago.

Both this and the Mario 64 runs downloaded in less than two minutes. I don't think I've seen any AVI do that before. Before, my opinion was that the longer run was better to watch because of better pacing and more glitch use. Because this movie managed to address both issues I had with the warped run, I might change my mind now!

Smash Bros. Brawl's replays also go by button presses. They too seem to be prone to desynching, especially on custom stages
