Nah, haven't gotten it to work yet. Right now I'm convinced that it's not possible. I've found it to be really easy to squeeze yourself through a wall using the levitation staff, and it doesn't work there. I think it's the slope that's causing problems. Right now I'm working on an improved version. I noticed a really stupid mistake right near the end while messing around with the codec. I'm hoping I can get Malkil improved as well. Some of those long pauses are really embarrassing.

My apoligies for any implied accusations. It was a problem with the codec. Everything's just fine now. Edit: Is there any particular reason why allowing more than eight sprites per scaline was turned off for recording? It's just a detail I noticed while watching the AVI, nothing more.

No. All you need to do is load the incomplete movie and load the state that you left off from. What you just described is the process for going back to redo something if you don't have a state before then.

I swear I've seen your name at Andrew Mills' Metroid page (I used to lurk there all the time). Are you the same person? Either way, welcome, and have fun. And don't be afraid of the F7 key. A lot of newcomers seem mortified by it. It doesn't bite, and is actually very friendly.

Not to mention it would allow him to skip the jump spell as well. I think the people who can appreciate this sort of glitch the most are those who have played the game before. Granted, both those who have and haven't played it would be left wondering what the heck is happening, but at least the former would understand the significance of it.

Here's a tip: don't use spaces to indent your text. If you do, you end up with a monospace font which screws with the formatting. After watching this run, I have to vote "meh". Obviously improved, and by two minutes no less, an amount that shouldn't be scoffed at. But the quality of the running is lopsided at best. For example, the stairs in the room where you get the jump spell is handled beautifully, but the one for the downstab looks awful. You also spent a lot of time in the spell menu to cast the spell, something that looks like it shouldn't have happened. You guys also seemed slow when exiting some caves. The cave with the trophy I can understand to be luck manipulation, but in the network in Death Mountain this shouldn't have been an issue. I'll dismiss the random pauses when entering a room as a charge up period, so I'm not counting that against you. Still looks kind of awkward, though. So yeah, "meh." Try making the running look more even.

Yes, I meant the AVI. There seems to be a lot of after imaging over parts that are flat colors. I've noticed that there's a lot of that going on in recent movies, unless there's a problem with my codec.

I actually didn't skip a whole lot, just three trials. I also managed to save one trial for later in the game. I have it detailed in the submission text.

Not much. You just get obliterated as you attempt to leave the room and you get an instant game over. Shame about the movie's quality, but the "enter your initials" screen was a nice touch. "FW"... Anyone notice how most everyone's avatar here features something that's looking to the left?

Guilds are mainly automated, so blame the game for missing that step.

Ah man, forgot to mention that thing with the third wizard guild in my text. I'll add it in. Yes, it is necassary that I get kicked out. As Kyrsimys said, the guild is locked with a special lock that only the thief can open, but to join, you have to be a wizard. Thus, I get kicked out once. /*-: I didn't attack the thief statue guards when I did because if I did, they would have jumped up into the air and I wouldn't have been able to attack as often. I'll throw that bit in as well.

I am currently half way through the secret passage to Malkil. I originally thought I would be using the thief more often here, but the transformation takes so long it hasn't been worth it yet, so I've stuck with the wizard the entire time. The dragon isn't quite as fluent as I would like, but I managed as best I could. The way they had the dragon move around throws off the aiming. At least I made several shots in the dark. Here's hoping Malkil goes down quickly. That rat fink is so cheap in normal play >:(. I'm predicting approximately 18 minutes. Shame this game suffers from some very bad design flaws.

If this was a preview, why was it submitted? The point of the workbench isn't to show off what you have going; it's so others can decide if a finsihed movie is worth publishing. If you want to give a preview, do so on other boards.

Holy mackeral! <O_o> I have never seen a game get this screwed up without a Game Genie! In fact, if this run were published, I would recommend it get a star for showing just how badly you can mess with a game! But, however, I must vote no. You yourself admitted in a different topic that with some work you can probably get it under eight minutes, so I can't vote an affirmative until an improvement is made. Good luck though. I thoroughly enjoyed this.

Uh, I said 2, not 6. But I understand the issue with the mountains. The desert in the first game operates very similarly, but fortunately I can avoid most of the ledges there. Man, I really need to get back to my G.I. Joe run...

Well, a couple of parts of route 2 look like you could have started jump kicking a few frames earlier, but I'm sure you have your reasons for not doing so. Very nice.

Well, I just got around to watching this, and I'm quite impressed. I may not like this game as much, but I like this run a whole lot better than my own. :P

I'm going to redo part of the worm battle for I have found a way to get an extra hit in on the second one before he retreats underground. This will save a good deal of time in many ways.

Thing is you don't need to jump off a ramp to get it to work. I first encountered this in the bronze knight statue room where there are no ramps to speak of. I would really like to see it working though. Right now I've just completed the third trial. Man, I really like how the worm battle turned out :D. It's not as fluent as I would like towards the end, but I keep my assault up on both of them as I can; neither go back into a hole twice. Easily a high point in this run. There's also a game breaking glitch in there: if the worm dies as you are transforming, you will be invisible and can't move. That's why I don't change as soon as possible, as you will see in the completed version. I've also managed to break into some walls using the levitation staff, but I fail to see any use at this point. It seems very, I dunno, specialized, but definately easier to pull off.

What would be the point in doing that? You'd basically be playing the same levels over again.

Are you juggling the birds around as much as possible? I think it would be really fun if you got a 1up on every bird in there (for Rash, granted).

I'm more familiar with the NES version myself, so for me I'd like to see that one. And yes, I would like to see a 2p run, one a toad, the other a dragon. 'Twould be fun.

Another progress reprt. To start out, my current WIP, and probably my last one before completion. It ends on frame 36912 (multiples of 3), about a third of the way up the first wizard trial. You'll notice that I went for the long sword; sorry folks, but skipping it seems to be a "Deborah Cliff" glitch right now, so I didn't use it :(. It just wasn't working out for me. Maybe a future run. In fact, I'm not entirely sure it's possible to fall through there. However, there still is hope... Watch this. I discovered this one while working on my WIP and have managed to replicate it. It tells us a few important things about falling through a floor: 1. You have to hit a corner; this I already knew. 2. Once you're in, you can get out as demonstrated. If you stop the movie as he's jumping, he'll fall off the screen. 3. You'll have to hit the ground near the peak of a small jump. 4. You'll have to be at full speed. Keeping in mind these last two things, I present to you this diagram: Start from the right of that dip, jump into it, jump from there onto the platform to the left of Kuros (you must miss the platform Kuros is standing on), and take a tiny hop on through. At first I was trying to get through from where Kuros is standing, but it wasn't working. This plan, though, so far is equally fruitless, but I have managed to solicit some very strange behavior from it (I've had Kuros glide up that slope like an air hockey puck into the barrier). I hope it works there, but for now, I'll just focus on completing this dumb run.

I'm going to have to go with everyone here: some of the damage you take looks very sloppy, and looks like you could have jumped through a lot of them. I also noticed that you decided to engage a dragon in combat, but didn't do so until he was in a corner; take him out as soon as possible, and when you do so, make sure all of the hits connect. Also, are you sure you could enter doors as soon as possible? It looks like on many of them you were in front of them for several frames before you stopped to go through. Plus, the ending seems to require some input to get through all the way. Consider ending the movie later to get through it all. I also know you can get through menus and such much faster than that. Frame advance is really nice for that. Consider using Tanis for running through. He has one less hit point than Caramon but is much closer to Goldmoon. Less character navigation.
