As I realized, after a checksum error, you need to go into the BIOS (F1) and exit with saving the settings (F10 - Enter), otherwise the error will remain.

Yes, it's about a second faster, but in this case you'll have to kill Scorpion again at the 6th level, where you'll lose a lot more time.

As for a monk and the first yellow gate: yes, it was taking damage for no reason. But I don't think it is bad. As for the second yellow gate: you lose control over character right after last hit and have to wait until loading is done. The only thing you can do for moving Sub-Zero forward is a slide which interrupts animation of the roundhouse kick. So it was a saving time.

I think it is because of the elevators. Sub-Zero can't be controlled on them, so I couldn't make this level less boring.
