Reminds me immensely about the Panel De Pon submission. Except this game looks pretty bad visually and the sound makes me thankful I have a mute button. Yes voted anyway and encoding in High Definition (When I get Megaman Zero out of the way, anyway).

The star probably got removed at some point, we've done that to a fair few amount of runs, such as the Battle of Olympus or Donkey Kong Country (One of them, not sure which). Basically, they didn't stand the test of time well.

I disagree, TASVideos is what it would look like if Segata Sanshiro tried to out compete Chuck Norris in a video game. The subsequent result is them constantly obsoleting each others runs, these events are known as frame wars.

Well, it really depends on the type of hacking. Though they are related, TASing and ROM hacking are effectively branching down two different paths, though, they both can use similar resources to achieve a different result (A TASer wants to find out the statistics of a monster in an RPG to know how to work with them, a ROM hacker wants to know the same information in order to modify them). In this case, you appear to want to know about ROM hacking specifically, it's probably a good idea that you would have made this topic in the Off Topic discussion area (Though, I am actually a bit unsure myself... it's really a difficult question to sort into what forum and whatnot). Anyway, this might not even be the best forum to ask the question, honestly. Anyway, for what I can help with, I've found that editing bytes in the RAM to see if the layout changes could be a good start, I established how some of the layout is stored in Gourmet Paradise via this method (TODO: Document how Gourmet Paradise stores its layout), though, this relies on a fair bit of luck and brute force in doing so... and even so, it relies on the layout being stored uncompressed inside the ROM. Talk to me on AIM, MSN or the TASVideos IRC channel if you want more information. I admit I am probably not the best man for the task of answering this question, but I do welcome you to TASVideos. Edit: <Dacicus> Flurret: Send the newbie to romhacking.net <Flurret> I never thought of that fff I never visited there myself, but it's apparently useful.

Jesus sucks compared to Segata Sanshiro. Segata Sanshiro reeks of so much gaming awesome that he can force a video game console to start from an emulators start state. He can also TAS a video game in real time.

It's quite a fair bit more complex than that, long story short, you can't just record record the game using screen capture program. In fact, it is rather impossible to TAS PC games at the moment from what I've gathered, though, some work has been done related to VMs... er, I'm not the person that should be answering this, honestly. My memory is pretty fuzzy on what exactly has happened.

For the record, of those curious, the screenshot is a jpg because of the fact that the PNG is 65 kilobytes when optimized... I ended up compressing it to 40 kilobytes using Paint.NET at 89% quality setting. This is the best I could do, sorry. Below is the completely optimized PNG for those interested:

My avatar describes what will be happening to this run very shortly. Except, replace the Flygon with the TASVideos Grue and the Mareep with this TAS.

On a more serious note, I am encoding this in High Definition now. I'll be making a Standard Definition encode of no one makes one by the time I am finished with the High Definition one. I really need to get that second computer, a single CPU isn't enough for the huge backlog that has happened.

Okay, despite being the first poster I did actually read the entire rebuttal. Never mind, Bisqwit got first bite. Well... wow... Yeah, I'm pretty speechless. I do confess to not being able to contribute anything directly relevant to TASVideos (Lets face it, encodes don't mean much) and that I probably reacted in a way I shouldn't have last night (What happens when you have a half asleep Flygon seeing some news that induces horror into its heart). I was indeed yes very horrified when the news appeared in that April Fools discussing IRC channel, the fear struck my heart. This can and will sound absolutely ridiculous, but TASVideos probably makes up 30% of my life, the other 70% being splits between school, family, friends and other small commitments. I probably could survive without TASVideos, but I'll sure as hell be dammed if I would mean much at all without it. When I became a publisher last year it was a very large confidence boost, I actually had a meaning somewhere in a community, rather then say, just a lurking guy that would post everysooften. That, and this is far more productive than Ragnarok Online. Anyway, the point here is my life story, the point here is that I do genuinely care about the future of this operation, though probably don't have the best methods of expressing it, and I will full heartedly admit it, I am an ego inflated slob that won't take no for an answer very easily. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to contribute to this community outside of encoding so while I do wish this operation succeeds well... well, lets face it, I have no TASing skills and I don't have a job in order to throw money at the operation... so... yeah. I probably shouldn't be writing this at 10:55PM, especially since I only got 3-4 hours of sleep last night, so you can expect a more logical reply tomorrow.

Console game movies still implies that it is doable on a console, not an emulator only deal.

Voting no because there is 1 hour and 16 minutes to go until April Fools day in my timezone at the time of writing.

Sorry about that, as I've complained about vigorously on the IRC channel I've been pretty much limited to Dial-up speeds for the past week due to my Mothers download/upload limit being broken... except for overnight. This has been rectified since I got the Archive.org link and Illari (God bless him) started seeding it, anyway, I forgot to uncap the torrent from 4 kilobytes a second overnight and... yeah. It's capped so that I still had 2 kilobytes overhead to even be able to use the net with. Anyway, majorly sorry for the inconvenience and hopefully, this is a one off scenario.
