You must download a ROM file named "disksys.rom".
If it's not named "disksys.rom", it is the wrong file.
This file enables playing FDS files, if it is in the same folder.
Do not rename anything.

I have no clue which game you are talking about.
Is it this game?

P.S. Maybe qqwref really got Super Mario World and Super Mario 2 mixed up.
P.P.S. This thread is over 2 years old.

Good job, upthorn and JXQ. 9 seconds on a run which was just published is a good improvement.
What impresses me the most is that you guys are playing for entertainment, not for ego.
Yes vote.

It is possible (making overall time faster); in fact the situation happens a lot. Any time you complete a level in a time between 23.333... and 30 seconds (exclusive), overall time would be reduced by completing the level in exactly 30 seconds.
If you complete the level in the exact same time and reduce overall time by taking fewer rings, it should be considered an improvement.

Basically, superhuman input, glitch abuse, and luck manipulation.
I mean this in general, not specifically to this game.
As for other ROM versions, it probably works the same, but who knows?
See http://tasvideos.org/782M.html for an exception.

There's a glitch with the take-back feature that can give a player an extra move. That's it, really.
It's not the glitch that causes the game to be "TAS-proof"; rather it is the game itself. The glitch has nothing to do with a TAS.

So far, there seem to be confusion about what a "TAS-proof" game means. It could mean:
1) A game which is pointless to TAS.
2) A game which is difficult to reach perfection.
3) A game where perfection is so close to normal play (might be #1).
4) A game which aims to depress TASers (might be #2).
5) A game which aims to discourage anyone from even playing it normally.
Glad you came up with that.

I almost forgot about this, but parrot14green and vsmk3 suggested this screenshot:
Does anyone object to the use of this screenshot for the movie description?

Which attacks do the Pokemon tend to attack you with when you are at full health?
Which Pokemon are faster than yours?
I'm asking about the speed because I am thinking of King's Rock (though if they're all faster, then it's pointless).
Also remember that if a Pokemon can finish you off, it will always use an attack that will finish you off.

From your description, it seems that you are low on health. What caused this lack of health?
Because if you are able to survive one hit, you can Rock Tomb it twice.

Good job, parrot14green.
I found a zipping glitch in Cold Man's stage that appears to bypass the miniboss, but you lose control of your character permanently.

I find watching Where's Waldo more entertaining than watching Battle Chess.
Anyway, here's a .wmv of my Battle Chess run at 8x speed:
http://files.filefront.com/battlechesswmv/;6462824;;/fileinfo.html
The run itself (plus checkmate) is 12 minutes long, so the .wmv is 1.5 minutes long.
I tried using MEncoder for .avi, but LAME and -speed don't like each other, so I gave up.
P.S. If you watch the emulator movie and wait 5 minutes after checkmate, the game will go back to the opening and its music. This is not present in the .wmv.

Sorry, I forgot all about this as well.
Here are all the segments:

I didn't record most of the lake fight (just the Barcon). Otherwise, I recorded everything else. The movies have no sound.

How about lower Marshtomp's health until it is less than 1/3 health, then use Water Gun?
You have Quick Claw and Mud-Slap, so none of the others should knock you out.

So does that mean I should go to a pokemon centre? I really want to be able to use a death warp back to the start for the fifth Gym.
You can use a Potion or Berry if you find one.
About the ROM, I had the same problem until it fixed itself. For some reason, having a patch in the same folder and enabling IPS patching will cure the problem, even if you don't patch it anymore. I don't know why this works.
