No. $29,90 as in $29.90. The comma is the decimal point in non-English languages.

I was going to mention that it really makes no sense to press more than 3 keys not named Ctrl, Alt, or Shift. The game won't do anything different, since overflow keys should be ignored. There's a reason why keyboards won't let you register more than a few keys, anyway.

TAXvideos There's your X right there. Also, the X can be a wildcard for any kind of movie, it can either be a speedrun, an entertainment run, or something completely different, it just has to be tool-assisted. And it has to be X enough to impress the viewers. naming-discussion solved, coolness increased. any.. uhm.. objections?
That's a weird name for any video. :D

I did notice on some TAS AVIs that the disclaimer and other info was displayed for far too short a duration. I know there's no need to insult the viewer's intelligence with long intros, but I can't read 6 lines of text in 1 second. Anything that is only displayed for 1 or 2 seconds near the start of the movie is likely to not even be noticed.
I agree. The disclaimers probably would be more noticeable if they were either longer, overlapped significant playing time, or were more descriptive, like:

Besides that... has "tool-assisted speedrun" vs. "tool-assisted superplay" already been discussed?
I suggest not bringing it up again. Anyone can call it whichever way they feel.

I'll guide you through: FAQ -> Using Emulator Tools -> Using save states But we would appreciate it if you read through those pages first. Edit: I responded to a deleted post.

I noticed how the subtitles were consistently being ripped from the .avi. We should start putting subtitles in the middle of the movie, like in Tetrisphere.

I didn't try out the program, but judging from the earlier posts, the tool is made for Windows. Make the program cross-platform from the beginning.
I can't -_-

Just use universal libraries (there are even cross-platform libraries for creating guis).
Although it would help knowing which ones are the universal libraries.

I think this sums up Tecmo Bowl:

5 minutes faster isn't something to ingore.
But it was 5 more minutes of action, not wasted time.
Since the submission will never be accepted, maybe we should just reject it and link to it in the movie description.

Tecmo Bowl. You lose!
I actually thought about Tecmo Bowl much earlier, but I refused to directly answer. Tecmo Bowl is the tool-assisted anti-speedrun of this site. I'm trying to think about how an author would ever use any kind of speed in this game.

It would be entertaining if they were just one after the other.
Are you saying that it would be better to make the .avi such that one run comes after the other? I notice though that watching them side-by-side indicates that the run does not do enough action syncing between the two videos. It's pretty hard to do that, anyway. Still, I disagree and say that the side-by-side .avi is more interesting (and half as long).

Mega Man 3, 4, 5, 6 would be crazy. I think it would be impressive if every game fights bosses at the same time, although it would be hard to do.

Good progress so far. Unfortunately, it appears to desync in Mega Man 5 about halfway through. At least for me it does.

Obsoleted movies can be rated? Nice. If you look at the obsoleted Golden Axe movie rating, it has 10.0 entertainment and 7.0 perfection, which leads me to believe that only one person voted.

1) Why did you take damage from Zubats' Leech Life? Wouldn't it be faster if they missed?
They don't miss, and the Zubats have no other attacks.

2) Why did you beat Eevee sisters in that order? Wouldn't it be faster beat Umbreon between Espeon and Vaporeon?
I don't lose any time because I have to go back horizontally anyway. I tried doing Umbreon third but non-critical Magnitude 10 only does max 57 to Umbreon's 59 HP. When doing it last, it jumped to max 64.

About the PokeCenters. How about using one in Mahogany town? And after you get to the lake you could use Escape Rope to teleport back to Mahogany, or is it possible to use Escape Rope that way?
I don't think it is possible to Escape Rope outdoors. Only Teleport works outdoors, and Fly is fast enough. Back in RBY, it was possible to Escape Rope almost anywhere indoors, from even the most harmless-looking places. In GSC, it is only possible to Escape Rope from limited areas, and it doesn't return you to the previous PokeCenter this time. You can't even Escape Rope from Goldenrod Radio Tower when Team Rocket takes over the building.

Another WIP. Morty's gym done: http://www.savefile.com/files/7609174 Remember to delete .sav and set date back to May 19 if you want to watch from the beginning. Rollout was even better than I initially thought. Not only does Rollout avoid going through the battle menu for multiple attacks, but these multiple attacks do not count towards Rollout's PP. I'm thinking it might be possible to go through without using any Ethers, Elixirs, or PokeCenters in the game!

I beat Whitney's gym handily with Magnitude. The Miltank required a critical Magnitude 10, and just barely (max. 69 to Miltank's 68 HP). As one would expect, getting a critical Magnitude 10 is like trying to make a 100% move miss in RBY, although I managed to pull it off without much loss. One thing I noticed is that holding down A will sometimes reduce the magnitude number by 1, or in this case, turn a Magnitude 4 into a Magnitude 10. When fighting the Vulpix on the route to National Park, I somehow managed to get Geodude to attack first, even though Vulpix was clearly faster (29 speed to Geodude's 20 (+/-1)). Geodude wasn't holding the Quick Claw or anything. I must have found a glitch. Actually, it's not a glitch. I know exactly why. :) A subtle difference between L13 Pidgey and L15 Pidgey: The L15 has a full moveset and the L13 doesn't. Good thing I noticed that now and not when I try to teach Pidgey Fly. As for the Elixir thing, if you could tell me where there are Elixirs, I might just get some. On the other hand, there is a hidden Ether in Ilex Forest (skipped over that) and another Ether in Olivine Lighthouse.

I never thought about Elixirs, mainly because I don't think I will need one. I know there are two more restoration points that aren't PokeCenters, after the Rocket quest in Mahogany Town, and somewhere along the route before Victory Road. I might also need a PokeCenter in Goldenrod. I also followed Brown Bomber's speedrun and bought 4 Escape Ropes, so I'm assuming it's impossible to escape rope/dig from the Goldenrod Radio Tower. I'm considering fainting out of there (from poison).

The luck manipulation against the rival turned out to be much easier than I initially thought. Not because I found an easier way to land critical Magnitude 10 on Bayleef, but because I found an excuse not to use it. It wouldn't OHKO Bayleef (if two non-criticals can't knock out a Pokemon, one critical can't). I 2HKO it with critical Rock Throws. Speaking of Rock Throw, I used it 20 straight times already. Here's my plan: - Get Cut. Teach to Totodile. - Magnitude all in Whitney's Gym. - Get Quick Claw and the Rollout TM for Geodude. - Catch Pidgey - Magnitude/Rock Throw against Kimono Girls - Rollout in Morty's Gym - In Olivine, get Strength (after the tower) - Magnitude all in Chuck's Gym From there, it's not clear exactly where to go. I'm also trying to figure out whether it is worth picking up Ether or not.

My logical guess is that you record the whole movie into a GMV file and then use FRAPS to capture the finished live action movie. The problem is that GEN emu just disables FRAPS when I hit the hotkey in order to capture it to AVI.
We use emulators to record the .avi. We don't use external recorders, because they don't know whether the emulation skips or duplicates frames.
