Nice pages. I didn't know the graphics were so good. Maybe I was thinking "Apple II graphics" or monochrome. By the way, the term "time attack" on that site refers to a real-time speedrun, not the tool-assisted speedruns on this site.

I'm done then, that's the best i can do [edit] I'l try again when you guys start accepting zmv's because my problem is I don't have the patience to have to go back to the last time I had a chance to press the save button. I'd do much better if I can rewind a few seconds.
In Snes9x, you can use frame advance. Press it to go at your own pace and hold it to go fast.

Here are some fast boss battles I came up with in recent runs. http://www.savefile.com/files.php?fid=7104192 Click "Download", then "Download the file now" once. I recommend that you watch the Crush Crawfish battle last.

Why do you guys argue about cosmetic things like black spikes on enemies? I don't really care if an object looks harmful to stomp. I only care whether it is harmful to stomp. When it comes to hacks, you shouldn't assume anything.

Are you sure that forcing Mario to power down has never been done before?
In SMB3, Frank's SMB3 hack forces Mario to power down. Fortunately, those levels which force Mario to power down aren't that tough. There are other cases in creative hacks, and even if there weren't, I could easily make one using SMB3 Workshop.

The only way to do it would be with a screen recorder. However, every screen recorder I've tried makes the video all uneven like it skips 100 frames every second.
That's why screen recorders aren't allowed on this site. It skips/duplicates frames. Screen recorders have no idea what the actual emulation is. They can only capture its appearance.

I just watched the run. Although Diman's run gains time in some areas compared to Genisto's run, it also loses time in other areas. The loss of time occurred mainly at the beginning of 1-2 and during boss battles. The mushroom blocks should be dropped on Birdo, not thrown. I have no idea how Diman pulled out the time 8:33 from this run. The run is clearly 9:15 and it ends on time. If Diman spends time to compare runs when making movies, certainly another movie or two would be published on this site.

Isn't it possible for FCEU to report incorrect times?
Not sure, but Shinryuu compared the runs dual-encode and said that it was 7-8 seconds slower.

When it comes to a concept demo of a hacked game, "Aims for fastest time" is a liability. Entertainment is everything here.

Wait a minute. I always thought the submission queue was for serious TAS movies. Lately, the submission queue has been flooded with demonstrations. I don't want to say that doing this is no good, but I don't want others to think that submitting 100 demonstrations of random games is OK.

Hacked ROM link was deleted. I created a patch: http://rapidshare.de/files/6946065/Airpatch.IPS.html (Click the "Free" button, then click the link at the bottom.) You must patch "Super Mario Bros (PRG 0) (JU).nes" Patching program SnesTool: http://acmlm.overclocked.org/download/filelist.php?id=2

This is the most bizarre run I've ever seen. If this was a real console game, I would vote yes. Of course, this is a mindless hack that anyone can pull off with a SMB1 level editor, so unfortunately, I must vote no. I think that this run is entertaining enough to be saved for demonstration purposes. Shinryuu, linking to hacked ROMs is not allowed. Only linking to their patches is allowed.

My nick Shinryuu comes from Final Fantasy V/5 .. it's almost hardest boss in the game and it appears from the box.. and the name is "japanese" :) It's cool Creature and i like it a lot so i choosed Shinryuu to my nick. Shin = Death ryuu = Dragon ??? Shinryuu can be Deathdragon.. im not really sure. :/
I have never seen shin = "death". There are many words for shin but I believe that shin = "god" or "divine" (神).

It is listed as "Does not abuse programming errors in the game." Are there any errors that would save time, and if so what would they be?
Use the Trainer-Fly glitch at Cerulean City to generate a Missingno. Then you get 128 more of the sixth item (make it Rare Candies). Then power up your starter. Edit: Try catching and powering up Missingno. and show everyone how messed up the game can get.

The boss fight strategy was just a test, I don't know if there's a faster way, 'cause I just got the idea like a couple of hours ago and I had to try it.
I believe your strategy is the fastest. Alternating charged and uncharged is generally the quickest way to beat many bosses with the X-Buster. The same strategy can probably be used to beat Blizzard Buffalo in MMX3. Boss battles are basically the one main reason I try to improve runs. I began to TAS just because of the Wheel Gator bashing. Every day, I try to think up any possible method to beat them, even if it seems "impossible".

Wow. 277 frames faster. And I thought I was good at coming up with ways to beat bosses. Guess not.

As for Unown, Unowns are completely different thing: They are part of the Gold/Silver storyline, and there's even a movie where they play an integral part. Unowns are letter-shaped Pokémon, all having the index number of 201. (This is from a Povray animation made by me.)
What's that picture supposed to be? A random clip from a 3D game? If you say Unowns are letter-shaped, are Japanese Unowns katakana-shaped?

Wouldnt you be able to save a few frames off the blue helicopter guys by jumping before your first shot so you can shoot them as they are descending? That's the only thing that pops out at me.
It turns out that they are transparent up to the point when they start attacking.

Awesome run! I vote yes. I'm still wondering how you catch a L42 Onix with a Pokeball.

Savestates and slow motion. That is the whole point of this site. Is your video not even tool-assisted? It seems that you have come to the wrong place. You want this site: http://speeddemosarchive.com If you believe you have come to the right place, then read: http://tasvideos.org/WhyAndHow.html

You don't think it's faster?
It's faster, but I thought that doing the stages in this order allows you to use the ride armor to break the ice blocks to Blizzard Buffalo's heart tank, rather than Tornado Fang. I realize now that you have to fight Bit eventually, and without Frost Shield, it's hard. Does anyone know the furthest point that you have to fight Bit?

Here is the (recently started) good run up to Chill Penguin defeated. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/235/Mega%20Man%20X%20%28V1.1%29%20%28U%29.smv The run is currently 163 frames ahead of DeHackEd's run. Beyond this point, the runs can no longer be compared easily. WIP1 timing and ROM Version 1.1.

Great movie. My only qualm is with the Gary/Rival fight. Why the animations? Do animations turn on automatically for this? If yes, consider this a yes vote. If no, well... it's still a yes vote.
Yes, animations turn on for the last fight. It cannot be avoided. It is possible to get all 151 Pokemon, but whether such a run is interesting is another question. Technically, it is possible to get 151 Pokemon, a bunch of glitched Pokemon (called Missingno.), 127 of every item in your inventory, and a broken cartridge.

I wondered why no one has done something like this:
A couple of reasons: - Megaman X3 is not as interesting as X1 or X2. - The Beam Saber undermines the point of getting the items. There are many resources out there, but I can give a few tips. -Try charging up maverick weapons against bosses. Some weapons can do 5 damage when charged. Besides, some bosses take extremely long invincibility times when hit by their weak weapon. -When getting the armor, you can use the sub-screen to stop the Gravity Well early. -It might be faster to do Neon Tiger second (after Tunnel Rhino), then boss order from there. Thanks for letting us know that you don't need the dash boots to get the X-Buster upgrade. Anyway, my opinion is that the Beam Saber should not be obtained in a "100%" run since the run would look better and more meaningful without it. It's your choice, though.
