Thanks, woabclf. But it makes it impossible to complete the level later. When Forte reaches the same level as the ground floor, he walks automatically.

What most people said. I don't like it, but fact is, people in general do not have time to watch 1000 movies. They tend to be very selective in what they want to watch. If they don't have a reason to watch a movie, they won't. Sometimes, having one reason not to watch a movie is enough to put the thought of watching it out of their mind.

At the moment, progress on emulation itself is rather slow, so you'll have to be very patient (as in, over many years). The implementation of TAS tools depends on many other things, such as availability of source code, stability, quality, and desire for the platform to have TAS tools. Unfortunately, there seems to be a lot of noise regarding "Ipod emulator", so there is no clue which one is good and which one is not. After all, emulators were written for the common masses, not for us.

Even though the miniboss skip does not help in a 100% run because Crystal Hunter is required for Morph Moth's stage (assuming there are no new efficient methods), it is much more useful in a run that only obtains the X-Buster upgrade, since the Heart Tank is not needed. Also, before switching to 1.51 or 1.52, an examination of lag should be in order. I believe that lag will be compensated for in final consideration.

I watched this movie a couple times. At first, I liked the screams, and the couple glitches (the rope-swinging glitch and joust glitches). I'm sure everyone who voted yes here did. However, the movie just dragged on for too long. The run is basically the same thing four times (apart from the end), is very slow-paced, and doesn't seem to be technically meriting. The wall-climb one was probably the best entertainment. The rope-swinging one was too long, particularly in the later levels, and the powerball one is just pointless. I didn't know for a long time that the level ran on a timer, not that it really improved my opinion of it. Perhaps the game was really so hard that it had to look like that. Perhaps the game was infamously bad enough to attempt a run, like Action 52. But the lack of entertainment or interest seems too much to overcome. In light of this, I vote no. Using a password (which allows the player to jump to Lv 4 directly) may improve the TAS by cutting down repetition. But who knows? Also, a disproportionate number of people voted yes on this one. Nostalgia?

[1691] SNES Mega Man & Bass "Rockman" by sparky in 28:03.12 Because it's highly glitched, yet the game hasn't turned into mush. At least not yet.

Youtube encode: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ALZ_U2_7lSU I'd say most entertainment is due to what the puzzles say, and their answers. Though for some people it might get old after a while, if they don't care for that.

That was long. So much time is cutscenes and walking around. But it deserves to be published. Everything was well-planned out. And that's what a RPG TAS should do. I vote yes. janus, I have two questions: - Did you use Lua for some parts of this run? - You are suggesting a screenshot of Chun-Li. Perhaps it would be better to use a screenshot of a battle? There are some good ones.

I'll try to put up an encode, though I have sync problems currently. To everyone who voted and did not watch the movie (that is, everyone who voted), don't do it again. If you haven't watched the movie, don't vote. If you have a problem with this submission, stay out of this thread. Simple as that.

I'm sorry for the late reply. I think you can use Lua to do this (input.get(), along with joypad.set() and some programming for alternating buttons). I had a page with some Lua stuff on it but never got around to finishing it.

Which settings are you using for audio/video codecs? In general, some types of codecs don't work well. I recommend using H264 lossless from ffdshow, because that works in general for me. Not that I've tested on Snes9x v1.52, however.

Not only one floor, but 68 of them! This run is glitched even more. And so I vote yes.

I'm more interested in what happens in the Void. Why he goes to some place, saves, then ends up near the Pokemon League, for example. I've heard that part of the Void is random from game to game. Unfortunately, no one seems to know how it works.

He actually was doing that right because those Galactic grunts will block the entry unless you deal with the grunt at the Valley Windworks. Unless you know of a way around that.
I see. What I meant was that, even though the grunts block the way to the old man, they will disappear if you talk to the girl near the bridge. So, talk to the girl and then go to the old man.

Another update, almost a month later. - Movies go up to number 1694. - I have included an archive with all input files ever published on TASVideos, publication number first. It has replaced the archive with only non-obsoleted input files, publication number first.

Here are all the parts, with annotations telling you the moves, and other interesting stuff. First part: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__DAQYE_uDg Second part: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fsfYpEzzfHg Third part: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gk8zCDZKBP4 I do not know about tweaking and the void to comment on what is going on there. Also, I noticed some stuff which I believe are mistakes: - Going to the Windmill first before saving the old man with the honey. - In the Windmill, fighting the grunt instead of walking around him. He looks around randomly. - Going to Hearthome after tweaking a couple times, the unnecessary random encounter.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gk8zCDZKBP4 This is the last 15 minutes or so of a TAS which uses tweaking to glitch to the end. I ripped it from nicovideo after learning about it from http://saisokugame.blog75.fc2.com/ . There are a lot of TASes there, some which come from this site. Anyway, I'll summarize what happened. After getting the bike in Eterna City, this TASer went back to Jubilife, set teleport point by PC, then tweaked into the void to go to Mystery Zone, where he caught a L55 Rhydon. After teleporting out, he tweaked again to go to Celestic Town cave to get Surf. Then teleport again, but this time go without tweaking to Hearthome City, beat Fantina to activate Surf, then leave, teleport, and tweak again, this time to Pokemon League. He then beats rival, enters, uses Rhydon to do the surf glitch, then glitches to the end. (Surf glitch is J version only) I don't think others would be interested in seeing the first two parts of the run, so I'll just list notable things: -This TASer uses Piplup, catches Bidoof early, and Abra a bit later. -He gets Quick Claw in one of the houses in Jubilife. I can't believe I missed that. -He sets Journal to Select, to manipulate away random encounters. -Against Rival 1: Uses two crit Pound on Starly, three crit Pound on Turtwig. -Against Roark: Geodude and Onix fall to crit Bubble, against Cranidos, Piplup uses Bubble (noncrit), Cranidos uses Leer, Cranidos uses Headbutt, Piplup uses crit Bubble (Torrent activate). -Against Galactic Double: Lucas's Chimchar uses Ember on Wurmple and Piplup uses crit Bubble on Zubat. -Gets TM88 (Pluck) at Floarama Town -Against Mars: Starts out with Potion. Then Bubble and crit Pluck on Zubat. Three crit Pluck on Purugly while it uses Faint Attack. -Piplup evolves and learns Metal Claw -Against Youta & Kanako (Eterna Forest): Prinplup's Metal Claw and Chansey's Tackle take out Wurmple Pachirisu used Bide here, Metal Claw takes out Beautifly, Tackle and Metal Claw take out Pachirisu while biding Pluck on Cascoon -Against Yoriko and Akifumi (Eterna Forest): Pluck on one Abra, Tackle on other. -Against Galactic Double: Metal Claw Wurmple, Zubat kills Bidoof with Bite, Pluck Cascoon, Zubat eats Abra, crit Pound Zubat, Metal Claw Glameow -Against Jupiter: Crit Pluck Zubat, noncrit/crit Metal Claw on Skuntank and the rest is in the summary above. You don't need to know what happens to Fantina and Rival because Rhydon kills them all.

The run was very exciting, much more than I expected! While this game was made as late as 1998, it is still a SNES game, and we know how glitchy NES and SNES games are. Compare to Mega Man 8, which is on the PSX, made before this game, has almost the same type of graphics, and yet has very few glitches that I was able to exploit. The only thing in this run that made me wonder was ending the input early. The game could have ended earlier by using a charged buster shot, rather than using Copy Vision to end input early but delay the game end by a few seconds. Still, doing that does not take away my appreciation from this run. I vote . As for whether Rockman or Forte is faster, my experience with Forte tells me that it will be much harder, if possible, to do the zips that Rockman does. I suspect, but I am not sure, that Forte's hitbox when dashing, which is higher than Rockman's hitbox when sliding, makes it harder to be forced inside a wall. Forte is also disadvantaged by things like: - Longer scenes after beating a boss, and warping in. - No charged buster. As a result, Slime devil takes longer, and the first boss takes much longer. And boss order is forced until you get Counter Attacker after the third boss.

This submission makes wonder, which of the two playable character in this game is optimal to use for speedrunning, Rockman or Forte? The answer affects all publicated movies of this game.
I don't think it should affect publications of this game, apart from one category labelled "Uses a suboptimal character". That label should be on the current slower one, no matter what.

You can get started fixing them. I'll examine the names and fix them anyway once I finish downloading all the input files (including obsolete). Some time before, I changed a number of published movie names to the US name (ex. Rockman 7 -> Mega Man 7) because of consistency and recognition. By the way: Blue Shadow = Shadow of the Ninja, Hitler no Fukkatsu = Bionic Commando, Olympus no Tatakai = Battle of Olympus

If anyone is wondering, the code here uses AVISynth and the code is saved as a .avs file.

I haven't. Then again, I may not be reasonably active, at least in the workbench forum. I did watch this run though. Just that I don't usually vote or reply.

The archive has been updated to fix a couple bugs. Thanks, arkiandruski. I have also included another archive, with the same movies, but renamed so that the TASVideos publication number is listed first, with 5-digit padding. Oh, and before anyone asks, I used a C++ program to re-rename them.

I liked the playing around with the hammer bros, but other than that, during most of the playing around, it seemed like "what's the point?". There just isn't enough interesting stuff (without scoring) to fill 3 minutes of waiting for each of 5 levels. Voting no.
