That was a nice teaser. Thanks, comicalflop. I guess it's pretty obvious and likely corrected in the new version, but the dashing back and forth around 0:57 looked pretty laggy. There must be a huge amount of luck manipulation involved in these boss fights. Is that what the lava dives are about?

1. FFVI (all versions are pretty good) 2. FFIV (GBA port is excellent but has a couple new bugs - (E) version corrects them) 3. FFX Bonus games: Chrono Trigger and EarthBound are like the two finest games ever made in my opinion.

I voted Cardboard, and feel bad that I couldn't pick the rest. I've enjoyed a whole lot of Deign's and xipo's work.

These were all excellent movies, it was hard to pick. I ended up picking Comix Zone, probably because I enjoyed the process of rapid obsoletion... that game just kept getting more and more broken, very quickly, too. The end product looks really good, and it was a lot of work by a relatively inexperienced TASer for what that's worth (which I guess isn't much).

Yeah. It's a well-known fact that sound, like all electromagnetic radiation, can travel in vacuum. Also, like all electromagnetic radiation, sound travels at the speed of light in vacuum.
Just because they can't do the same things doesn't mean they are not parts of the same thing. Light can't go through opaque walls but it can go through vacuum. Sound can go through walls but not vacuum.
Ahhhh... now I believe that light and sound are the same. Thank you for showing me the sameness of light and sound.

Hahah, that was rad. I feel like it could be publishable except for starting from a savestate. I don't see why it would be a concept demo or anything though... it plays one of the game's modes from start to finish. Playing death race rather than racing through leagues seems to me like choosing a certain difficulty or character for entertainment reasons. Nobody should be knockin' the King's Bounty run. It is definitely complete. And awesome.

It looks to me like Chamale has had a very slight positive effect on the rate of integrity decline. Intentional?

Lufia 2 (totally underrated, best OST ever) Chrono Trigger Shadowgate (virt's Warrior King remix of this is awesome) Super Metroid A Link to the Past
This list is all gold. Nice to see Shadowgate, I was thinking about it since everyone's been talking about OCRemix. There's one very fun and spooky remix from Shadowgate called "Mystic Piano". I've never really played Kirby games, but they really have awesome and catchy music. It's very easy to watch TASes of those.

Nice work, JXQ. I really like most of those choices. So the work on this subject is pretty much done for now?

That's because it's cold out! The other day when they were calling for this snowstorm in Toronto (that is sort of still happening) the weather guy said there was "a big winter event headed our way". I thought he was talking about a hockey game.

Hehe Sadly to say TNSe but it isnt PSIV.
Hahah, I thought the exact same thing just from the creator and name of the thread!

Like DrJones said, I think this is the best Ninja Gaiden run I've seen, and they've all pretty much been winners. Lots of variety with different power-ups and such.

I'd say both in-game time and real time should be stated as goals, but make one the 1st priority goal and stick with it. As the options pertain to this decision... In-game first, real second: Aim for fastest in-game time and go for fastest real time when it doesn't interfere with the first goal. This would mean heavily abusing the text box trick to reduce stage times. Real first, in-game second: Use the text-box trick, or any other trick, to get a low stage time but only when it doesn't cost you real time frames. I don't really have a preference, but I don't like fuzzy goals and I hope you'll be consistent one way or the other. I'd hope for lag reduction either way (as real time should be a significant goal, if not the primary goal), although I understand that may be asking a lot. And hey, I'm probably going to love the whole thing regardless.

I'm not entirely sure what you mean, but I think the answer is Pot (I'm no druggie though). I'm guessing this is whether or not to use the pot to collect all the clancers? Hm, that's actually something to test, I know that with frame perfection it's possible to throw all those guys very fast, I just don't know if Marina can throw them far enough.
You guessed correctly. I was recently playing that level on console and tried playing both ways. I wasn't sure which would be faster in a TAS, particularly if there is a way to affect how the flower kids move. At the time, I also realized that I strongly dislike that level.

Ah, that sounds reasonable. I hadn't thought of the experience balance, despite you having stressed it in the sub text. Still, it's too bad there's no way to kill Pelle after those gargoyles.

I did a lot of HeXen (PC & N64), Duke Nukem 3D (PC), and Quake 3 Tournament (DC). For some reason I also played a whole lot of Turok 3: Something of Oblivion (N64) with friends, and still do every so often. I think we liked the variety of crazy settings.

I found the whole part in the gym pretty funny, and the crazy pit jumps, and most boss fights... the other antics were okay. I mostly love watching games just get their asses kicked quickly but this was, in my opinion, more entertaining than the published movie. I found the graphical glitch pretty funny for at least a few seconds. I don't know if I'm comfortable with the idea of obsoletion based strictly on entertainment, though... at least not here. Maybe if these entertainment competitions were kept completely distinct from TASes that aim for speed? And I think it would really work better in a more democratic medium than this site (not intended as a negative thing, by the way). Regardless, my vote's a yes. I'm sort of excited to see what happens with this.

I really like the improvement and intend to vote yes. It's hilarious watching the tiny party of three beat the last battles... and the Mishaela battle is really a crazy improvement from the last run, that part was great. The improvement in cursor movement also really shows in some battles. Two little things that might be completely justified but I didn't understand: (1) Can you avoid getting the heat axe for Gort? It takes some time, albeit not very much, and isn't really used for anything. (2) I guess you had some trouble getting Pelle killed. He was pretty much useless in at least the two battles prior to being killed. Is there no way to unload him earlier?

I think a perfect Migen Brawl! is actually my most-anticipated level. As much as I'd really dig a WIP I know I'll love being able to sit down and watch the whole thing and most likely have my mind blown. So... what's your plan for the last screen of Snowstorm Maze? Pot or no pot?

I'm still very excited for this run, but I'd really like to see both one day. Those boss skips would make me burst out laughing if I wasn't expecting them.

Levels I love playing: Flying Battery in Sonic & Knuckles, Armored Armadillo in Mega Man X, the Shadow Wood hub in Hexen, Donut Plains 1 in SMW, the giant house level in Little Nemo, The Mirage Tower in Final Fantasy... I don't think I'd want to live in any of those. Maybe Fourside from Earthbound? I guess that's sort of boring, but I like big cities.

I'd say you'd have to acquire the old characters at their default levels and with default equipment... otherwise it would be considered using a password.

Bisqwit has stated before (see majora's mask submission) that incomplete-dialog screenshots do not make for good publishing screenshots. Dialog in general, since not only english speakers frequent this site.
I wasn't being completely serious. I just thought it would be hilarious if that actually ended up there automatically because I remembered talk about a similar shot for one of the NES Bionic Commando submissions. Now I feel kind of bad for ruining a good in-joke. Ah well.

Somebody has to have messed with NesVideoAgent's screens... If he honestly picked those himself, maybe #13 should actually be considered. Otherwise, #1 is actually a pretty cool shot.
