well its pretty easy to max the score on the special stages, and you would have to do the same special stage multiple times in order to get max score. it also might take me a decent amount of time since I'm not really worrying myself with fastest possible time. but if you think it would be better with the special stages I could probably go back and do them with an input splice.

you do realize that the time spent getting all 7 emeralds early isn't made up for by having super sonic early right?

I've been working on a sonic 1 max score run. I don't expect this to be publishable and I'm not sure how far I'll get (probably marble2 as that level is 10 minutes and boring), but I thought some people might want to see my work. so far I'm up to GH3. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1717606189/sonic1score_TAS.gmv I think that you can get 1 more ring in GH1, and theres still about 30 frames to spare in GH2. thanks to carreto for making the GMV of a 16 hit combo in GH3. and carretos brother for encouragement, a tip on GH2, and having his brother make the GH3 combo GMV. edit: my latest version through SYZ http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1847519894/sonic1score_TAS.gmv marble 3 was 123300 which is 13500 more then carreteros TAS and 19700 more then the record at TSC. sy1 was 73430 which is 2100 more then the TSC record. IL scores: level score (TSC record beaten by) gh1 77130 (1900) gh2 78530 (5000) gh3 100600 (45500) m1 69730 (600) m2 259430 (76600) m3 123300 (17400) sy1 73430 (2100) sy2 69580 (2100) sy3 31900 (1000)

you're 132 frames slower then the old WIP that I have available, I think most of this is from talking to the statue (which I assume you had a good reason for that I don't know of.) but I think you could also save some time in the battle by setting up a macro. you also don't kill off hahn like he does which I think helps by giving your other characters more exp in later battles. you probably understand if and how much this would help more then I do though. I think you can manipulate the battles by pressing random keys while waiting btw so you should be able to manipulate macros and having hahn die with out too much waste of time.

what? there are no swinging vines in stage 1. there is a power up in zone 3 but it takes about 30 seconds to get and theres one near the start of zone 4b if you don't get it, so I didn't think it would be worth it. I'm also still not sure exactly how the vines work, and think I might be able to get the same speed by jumping off them a few frames earlier.

I finished zone 3, but it probably needs some work. I think I could have taken some damage in 3A and ended up with less health and I'm not sure about my boss battle strategy. http://www.filedropper.com/legaxefuzz_1

is this and the two screw glitches the only known improvements?

finished improving level 2, for a total improvement of 316 frames. http://www.filedropper.com/legaxefuzz 30 frames came from the bears in zone 1. a good portion of the rest was from improving the position that I opened the idols at. 96 frames came off just between the 2nd crown and hitting the first boulder mainly due to randomly going really fast after the rope. 68 was from a better strategy on the boulders, which I was able to do by not getting hit as much in the main level. I think a good portion is also due to lag management.

actually the wings DO increase the speed that you can attack, not the speed you charge (or at least the speed you charge isn't noticable if it does). I'm not sure they will be useful since you usually want to attack with a single charge anyway. I was working on improving this the other day, I saved 30 frames on the bears and 21 frames up to the first crown. I wasted a bit of time killing enemies but I think I already gained this back from removing lag. this game is kind of weird that the lag frames don't show up as red.

I'm not 100% sure, but from what little luck manipulation I've tried on this game you can have the number of coins change by waiting a few frames, but they tend to stay the same for the same enemy. and since the amount of time it takes for the next cat to appear is based on when you kill the last cat its some times better to not try for a coin.

I did level 2 today, boy is that level laggy. http://www.filedropper.com/legaxefuzz_1 I got hit in a lot of places I hadn't planned on, and the lag could have probably been improved a bit by turning around to kill more enemies. I also think the bears in level one can probably be improved a bit so I should probably go back and fix it.

I did the start of pretty much every turbo grafx game I've played and thought I should post them here. http://www.filedropper.com/fuzzerdswips the zip contains videos of. (many of these are the japanese versions since that was the rom I had) Boxy Boy, level 20. I never could beat most of these levels. I expected this to be very boring, it wasn't quite as bad as I thought. Chew Man Fu level 1, 2 player. (j) I thought this would be a boring game, but it was really pretty entertaining with 2 players. this game is really long though and its really hard to optimize 2 players for me. Crater Maze level 1. this ones fairly boring to watch and I'm not sure what the best route is. if memory serves this is another long game. Dungeon Explorer, "5 player" I got sick of trying to control 5 players at the same time before even selecting characters. Neutopia. picked up some bombs and the fire wands, then started heading towards dungeon 2. you should be able to save about 1000 frames by manipulating some bombs. pacland trip 1. more boring then I thought it would be. very easy to TAS. R-Type. stopped about half way through the first level. fairly entertaining, less lag then super r-type, but not much to speed the game up. the last bit of input is just me messing around at full speed. timeball level 1. incredibly boring. Tricky Kick. (j) the first fairy level. not too bad but would get repetitive.

http://www.filedropper.com/keithcourage I edited it into your movie. by jumping just before getting hit you can probably save a bit of time later in the level too. you actually did this first or I wouldn't have noticed it.

I think that keiths part of stage 3 could have been done faster, in fact I think you actually went slower then last time on the part I was telling you how to fix <_< (about the same I think, I can still save 4 frames up to the next door.)

theirs a tall pipe you can stand on that gives you gold cats in stage 4. that might work.

I see, I didn't think it was frame dependent at all because I couldn't get the gunhead that I killed in my wip to give me anything but the bolt upgrade. I probably never hit him with more then a few frames difference though.

awesome work. how did you manage to manipulate hearts? and how did you turn around after falling? its a shame that platform disappeared just before you were able to jump off it. anyways I found that if you jump over the second half of the lava pit in stage 3 and kill the boulder instead of damage boosting off of it you can save a few frames. this also means you get hit 2 less times. I don't know if its because of the first trick but you can save a few more frames on the cat boost just afterwards. I'm not sure how this would affect the coin manipulation afterwards though. you probably already know this but I just noticed that walking through spikes actually is possible in some circumstances and is helpful at the end of the stage 3 underworld.

no, I kind of thought it did but I just tested and it seems it only does that for going to the next stage. I kind of thought damage boosting would be worth it anyway since the enemies do less damage, but for 30 frames it might not be. also I'm not sure about the bullets, but I know the other two enemies do less damage then touching the gunheads themselves. your set of damage boosts may be the best since you get to start the next level with 2 hearts.

nice work, I also did a WIP up to the start of stage 2. http://www.filedropper.com/fuzzerdkeithcourage I'm a bit faster up to the boss but couldn't get the boss to work right. you also end the stage with more health then me. you actually can damage boost in the non-armor levels provided you jump as soon as you land, and you take less damage from it so its quite useful. you can manipulate coins by attacking enemies in the normal levels on different frames, but in the alpha zones the enemy drops seem to depend only on which enemies you've killed. if you're going to buy bolts you should probably buy them in the first level as its cheaper. also hearts seem to round up when you teleport out of a stage.

Hahaha that's really bizzare. I'm suprised that it corrupted for rapidshare, sendspace, AND the TASvideos submissions? crazy. heres a link from filedropper http://www.filedropper.com/legaxefuzz have you tried the kato and ken movie yet? also how did you watch the dragon egg movie if the submissions download is corrupting the files?

this is kind of pissing me off now, I was hoping I could work with you if I decided to do this run. anyways I just had an idea, I hex edited my input onto the header of your file. if you have the time you should try this video http://www.sendspace.com/file/ggqk3h

I didn't realize custom key commands would do this. I think the only thing I changed was frame advance as z. I also have most keys for controllers 2-5 as q. I don't see why these would be affecting your ability to view the movie.

thats a shame. I'm working on the beginning of pretty much every game I own right now before I decide to do a full run. I would like to do a 5 player run of dungeon explorer but there's no way I'll be able to control 5 players at once, and I got sick of trying before I even selected all the characters lol. I'm leaning towards either the legendary axe or neutopia, but I'm also considering doing keith courage.

I think I want to mess around with some other things first before I decide to do a full run of any game.
