An excellent TAS of the game that essentially created modern speedrunning. An easy yes vote.

What is the point of this? If we're not allowed to use the optimal cannon route, then just don't use the cannons at all. No cannons makes more sense since it allows for more gameplay without being arbitrary. I'm voting no on this one.

WAT?! I have no clue what the hell you're doing, and I absolutely love it! Almost a full minute worth of improvements on a game that was already extremely well optimized because Simon somehow found a way to bend reality to his will. Instant yes vote, and I hope this run gets the star it deserves.

It was inevitable that a TAS of the new any% route was in order. This is the textbook definition of what this site stands for. A run with absurd luck manipulation, abuse of the game's code in ways not intended, strategies that require multiple doctorates to even understand, and all of this performed at a level beyond human capabilities. All of this with an amazing submission that goes into extreme detail to explain the goings on. To simplify, homerfunky, I have no choice but to give you a yes vote, because this obliterates the requirements needed to make the Stars tier and might wind up being the TAS of 2020 when all is said and done.

The idea of a maximum lives run of any Mario game with a specific trick to get lives quickly isn't interesting enough on its own for this to be entertaining. The Koopa Shell trick is well-known to the larger gaming community and has been for decades. Voting no.

An extremely easy yes vote. CTR is up there with Mario Kart DS as far as having the highest skill ceiling in any kart racing game. It was also fun seeing some of the tracks get destroyed with big shortcuts.

I'm voting yes for this particular run, but that's not the point of this comment. When it comes to the old arcade classics like this one, I like thinking about how to optimize the score across the entire course of the game. Since this version of Ms. Pac-Man has a defined end to it, I would love it if you decided to do a run where you went for a theoretically perfect score.

In terms of pushing a game as far as it can go, this TAS literally did just that. I don't care that there's nothing to watch, I'm impressed that this is even possible to begin with. And, as one other person has said, it's hilarious to think about. Yes vote.

I'm actually going to vote no on this because there's another submission of this category that's faster.

Welcome to this episode of F***ING SUPER METROID IN HALF! Today: Sniq uses the new glitches and techniques found in recent years to obliterate the 100% category. Take my yes vote and, as the late George Carlin once said: GET THE F*** OUTTA HERE!

It seems inflating to have 7+ runs of the same game, but at the same time the goals are not arbitrary or close enough to the same. This one uses a completely different character and moveset. Too bad we can't make sub folders on the main page. But I vote for non-obsoletion.
That's the thing with games that have numerous possibilities for branches. You really have to make sure that they give a unique experience from the standard runs while still being entertaining. Because the Knuckles run is different from this run, I also say that this should be kept separate.

Very interesting game, and entertaining TAS. I think that you chose a worthy homebrew, kaizoman. Yes vote.

You violated many rules of optimizing Tetris in the first minute alone. The first mistake was starting on level 0. You didn't optimize for Tetrises. Your line clears were erratic. And, as others have pointed out, 999999 isn't even the maximum score. Suffice to say, this one is a BIG no.

Surely now we won't be seeing any improvements to this in the future.
I would not be too sure about that - that's what was said about the original Super Mario Brothers before this happened. :)
And then we said the same thing about HappyLee's TAS... and it still stands to this day.

Hello! I'm Mario "Jumpman" Mario, and this is walking on thin air! Welcome to Jack@$$! In all seriousness, this run was very entertaining to watch. Contender number 3 for TAS of the year has officially showed up. You couldn't obtain a yes vote from me any easier than with a Super Mario Bros. 3 TAS.

I find it absolutely hilarious that large combos actually cause the game to freak out and submit to your will. You have a yes vote from me.

Looking forward to 100%, but feel free to exclude golden strawberries (all that does is force you to run chapters multiple times).
we're currently working on the 100% and an all chapters run, so hopefully you won't have to wait too long! the standard 100% category for RTA doesnt include the golden berries due to them being redundant and we plan on doing the same for the TAS.
I figured that you would consider 114%(all berries and stages) as a separate thing from 100%(all RED berries and stages). As you said above, the gold berries are redundant. They just force you to do a second run of every stage, though the City A-Side does award you a special gold berry for completing the level without dashes(the only level that this is possible on). The only way the run could ever work is if you collect certain berries in one run and then save the other berries for the gold berry run, and the only way it would work on City A-Side is if the berries that can be grabbed dashless are left behind in the first run.

Interesting TAS you've got here. Manipulating cards to your will. Honestly, I think this is good enough to make the Vault, so I'll give it a weak yes.

Can't wait for the completion of the submission text. In the meantime, have the easiest Yes vote in the history of TASVideos. This movie shouldn't just be a Star, it should be a Quasar.
I couldn't have said it better myself. If I had set up my account before the Mario Kart 64 TAS was submitted, I might've said something similar to this.

We're not even one month into 2019 and we already have our second TAS of the year contender! Not only was this entertaining and an excellent follow-up to the Knuckles ring-attack, it's one of those rare classic Sonic TASes that does stay true to the spirit of the games, that being the exploration of the stages. I'm also amazed at the fact that 99.6% of the rings in the entire game wound up in Sonic's wallet, and the only ones that didn't were mutually exclusive to Knuckles. The only step left would be to mix the ring-attack with the 100% category for a sort of "Max%" run, starting from a new save and getting all of the emeralds in addition to all of the rings, but that might be too arbitrary. This run gets a definite yes vote from me.

I greatly enjoyed watching the previous Celeste TASes on YouTube. Seeing the latest run being submitted for TASVideos brings joy to my heart. A definite yes from me, and I sure as heck hope it gets a star, and is in the conversation for TAS of 2019 by year's end. Also, this is my first post. Been on this site w/o an account for a few years before today.
