Before I begin, let me just say I know what PMs are, but the reason I made this public is because this is a continutation of my Abusing Programming Errors thread. The reason I needed to make a new one is because that thread is four months old and I don't like bumping old threads. Now, about Deign: When I said you didn't need to push a game to its absolute limits, you said that's exactly what you guys do here. I wanted to respond directly to that, but I was too worried about some big-mouthed child at the moment. Now I'm ready to respond: Games are my favorite form of entertainment, even better than movies. And to tell you the truth, I don't like when games are pushed to their limits. Because it's basically saying that they're in fact really sucky and people take advantage of it. Super Mario 3, Sonic 2, and Ocarina of Time are my favorite games of all time, and they've all been pushed to their limits. If this keeps going on, people will eventually get sick of the games and leave them in the dust. I don't want this to happen. So please, the next time you abuse programming errors, think about what you're doing to the game. I frantically don't care if you flame me for this, because I only come here to get tools for my own light-hearted playthroughs and don't visit the forums that often. [Edited by AngerFist: I changed the topic title to Abusing Programming Errors as the discussion is not really about Deign.]

Thanks JXQ. I didn't want this to become a flamewar. The reason I asked this question is because, most of the time, your TAS speedruns are the only ones posted on Google Video. It's possibly the only easy way for non-experienced gamers to see the entire game, and when you skip an entire section of the game by abusing errors, they don't get to see everything. Also, a lot of people on Google Video flame you guys for being cheaters (which is technically true, because you're using emulator tricks). They want to see real speedruns with no cheats. I'm not trying to start a flamewar or want to get bashed or anything. I just wanted to point that tidbit out and know why you guys liked to do it so much. P.S. Please don't ban me for this. I still like to come to these forums for help on recording my own playthroughs (no speeding, no tricks).

I enjoy watching TAS videos. I just don't like all the ones where people abuse programming errors in the game. Because the graphics and timing screw up and everything. Why do you guys like to do it so much? You don't need to push the game to its absolute limits.

Is there any way, like in Gens, that you can resume recordings from a savestate? Because I'd like to turn my favorite game, Zelda: A Link to the Past, into a movie, but I sure as hell won't be able to go through it in one run without dying.

It's fixed! Thank you very much! P.S. Yes I am a Vista user. Good guess.

I used Gens 9.5 to record a video of me playing through Sonic 2. The GMV file is finished, but I'm having a major problem getting it onto AVI. The Divx codec doesn't work, and the rest of the codecs leave horrendous results. Same thing goes for the desktop recorders I used as well (Hypercam almost worked, it just wouldn't stay in sync.) What should I do? I want to get my movie onto Google Video, but I can't if I can find a way to convert it into a decent file format...
