Is it possible? I got this idea from playing on the Mega Man Anniversary Collection! I was wondering if it was possible to do a speedrun with no lag and switching weapons with the press of a button! Sounds like a neat idea! :)
Please elaborate. Are you talking about NES Mega Man? What do you mean "switching weapons with the press of a button"? Also, what does "no lag" have to do with anything? Isn't this quite an arbitrary goal?
The Anniversary Collection lets you change weapons without entering the weapon select menu with L and R buttons (like in MMX games).
Yes, this is exactly what I was talking about! And yes, it was also NES Mega Man I was talking about.

In fact, I've already started Wind Man's stage! I'll tell y'all when I'm done with it and even post the WIP! :)
Good to hear that :)
Thank you! Oh, and you know what I figured out, you can gain extra pixels by stopping and restarting a slide repeatedly! I'm on Room 5 now (the one with all the enemies and death traps)! I hope I'll be able to optimize it as good as you did!

Hopefully someday, I will be able to make my own Mega Man 6 speed run. I think I've got what it takes! :D

Now that you're done with that level, I have a strategy to skip the last enemy in room 4 of Gravity Man's stage so that you won't have to take damage from it. Keep sliding until you get to the ledge then jump on the ledge and slide backwards and so as far to the left as you can so that you avoid the enemy.

You know frames of lag at different times can manipulate a bosses action in this game too, right?

Also, there is a cool trick with the jet: If you are in flight and you let go of the A button for 1 frame then press on it again you will gain extra height and slightly extra speed.
This trick is already used in my current Mega Man 6 run. But thanks for telling this in here :)
You're welcome! Oh, and did you try the trick where you try to make Knight Man run at you at the beginning of the boss fight so that you hit him faster?

Okay! Just do the best you can! :D BTW, are you still going the same route you did before (after Gyro Man's stage you go to Charge Man)?

I was talking about the first gate. I'm talking about right after the gate closes back. Do you know what I'm talking about? It might be just 1 or 2 frames faster.

Oh, and there's another small time saver at the first boss gate where right after it's done closing while you're sliding press the left button for 1 frame and slide again.

Oh, and for the explosion after the boss, jumping at certain frames helps to reduce some lag. You should try it and see if it works for you.

In the Mega Man 3456 run, there is a glitch where if there is a screen transition going down and you place two Super Arrows at the top of the screen (one that you can stand on and one that you jump repeatedly automatically on it) at the correct position then you slide on them, you will go through the top of the screed to the bottom and there will be a screen transition going down. P.S. Hey Baxter, how far are you on your run?

Well, actually at the end of the climbing section you can switch straight from the jet to the Yamato Spear for the rest of the stage.

I also have a cool trick for defeating the cannon enemy. You charge up a level 3 shot and get right in front of it. Normally shots will bounce off of it but if you are right next to it only a charged shot can get through it (even though you can shoot normal shots through the shield from the left side). This trick is useful in the first Mr. X stage and Knight Man's stage which brings up a new strategy for Knight Man's stage: Instead of switching to the Yamato Spear at the beginning of the stage use a charged shot on the cannon enemy in the room right after the falling spikes. Then switch to the jet. It will definitely save some time getting past that long climbing section.

Hey guys! I found a cool ladder trick for this game! When you are at the bottom of the ladder there is an invisible platform. Grab a ladder and hold down to go all the way to the bottom of it. You can see an invisible platform that can help you gain extra height! :D

I know a strategy for that stage: In the second room when you're ready to go to the next screen use two Super Arrows to get extra height for the next screen then at the fourth room you should have 1 hp left. Then use that to get the energy refill for it. Then in the fifth room use 3 Super Arrows (you might have to place it at a certain height) to get past the enemies so that you kill the last one at the end of the room. It may seem almost impossible because of two enemies at the middle but I tried it and I succeeded in doing it. I recommend doing some jumping. That should help.

I did TAS this game before and there WAS a WIP! I even have proof that I did! In the game I know that Mega Man's pixelation goes like this: 1-1-1-2-1-1-2-1-1-1-2-1-1-2-1-1-2-1-1-1-2-1-1-2-1-1-2 then it starts from the beginning. His sliding movement alternates between 2 and 3 pixels. In the WIP what I did was start Star Man's level then I didn't use a charged shot on the first enemy in room 2 but I used three normal shots. Then in the room in Gravity Man's room where you use Super Arrow I charged up prior to that room and used it on two enemies in that room then switched weapons. That way I wouldn't have to worry about that much lag. Then on the boss I used a new strategy. After I fired the first Star Crash on him I went all the way to the right of the room and jumped at the right time before he reversed the gravity again so that I could get another hit in (I did this twice).

I have terrible news! My computer had crashed just last Friday! I lost all my things and I have to get a new one! I didn't even get a chance to post a WIP. Looks like someone else is going to have to do the speedrun. :(
