Looks like x264.nl pretty much won't update anymore, so. Thankfully, I have found a while ago a site that had pretty recent builds of x264: http://komisar.gin.by (please only download the exes from the clear section, and ignore the *_64 builds) Remember to always have your x264 builds updated, sometimes there can be really good improvements about encoding.
Reposting so it can be remembered! 2525 came out, and there are still publications with older revisions, so go on and update. EDIT: If your antivirus says it's a trojan, ignore it. It's a false positive.

It comes to my mind that the usual TAS viewer doesn't really have the computer power to run 720p and most unlikely 1080p, so it's not reliable when not all users will watch it with those modes on. Even myself watch the YouTube videos at 480p because higher than that slows down my PC, hahaha. EDIT: feos doesn't represent the thinking of the publishers of TASVideos as whole. He is just saying what he thinks, not what everyone thinks.

As Judge, you should have done the research too, right?

Well, he is free to do it, not like it's necroposting.

I hope I'm not stepping on anyone's toes by reviving an old thread. But since I'm not sure where else to ask, well, here I go: Now that this site has the Vault category, could this run possibly be published? It's just far too great of a TAS (for anyone knowing the game) of an all-time classic to just let it lie here unpublished.

I am appealing that this submission be re-examined. I have seen much more "boring" submissions be accepted. And to fans of SCII this TAS is fantastic.
Unfortunately, this runs into trouble with site rules. Basically, some judge would have to get the run to sync (and the emulator isn't very sync-stable between computers). Then there is getting publishable encode (I think converting from existing one might be possiblity).

"51%"? Wherever you look at it, it just seems like you choose an arbitrary number so you could get the record.

What do you mean by "better"? Because technically, the encodes are perfect.

feos: Remember that you can use CRF 22 for this TAS since it would look the same if you used CRF 20 AND it will be smaller.

You know, I do have a problem with this run. It uses previously saved data to allow the player to skip all cutscenes and buy items that wouldn't normally be available as early as they are.
No, the reason why SRAM was used is because otherwise the category would be impossible, since Duplicator (item that is NOT avaliable without a previously saved data) is essential in the run. Skipping cutscenes is just a nice side-effect. The run now has the category of "Starts from a saved state or SRAM".

Okay. There are no black borders on my videos. They're all being dumped as 320x224, including Sunset Riders. I can prove that with this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q_1Pof4O-vQ As you can see, after dumping them, I throw both on virtualdub and the program shows no black borders on either of them.
Then the emulator is stretching 256x224 to 320x224 when dumping for some reason. I'm 100% sure that one of the revisions letterboxes it so they it can be cropped.

Uh... Sunset Riders is dumping at 320x224 here. o.o
Then its either stretched to 320x224, or letterboxed to 320x224 (if it has black borders on the sides which can be perfectly cropped out, giving the resolution of 256x224)

Bottom line: this run does not use ACE of any form by any definition. Period. Please stop arguing otherwise, as that only would further show that you don't know what you are talking about, and it is derailing this submission thread.
On the other hand, the "memory corruption" here is carefully corrupting the memory to do anything and everything the runner wants. At no point is there a risk of anything nor does the game lose functionality. "Corrupting" things to be in your favor is different from ACE... how? I'm pretty sure the Pokemon Yellow Pi Day run is considered as using ACE when all it is is careful corruption of specific areas of memory. I also never got the point of a public response to someone that also includes "do not reply". Why did you reply in public too, then...?
Okay, we get it, you have all your facts wrong and misplaced in your head. Now, it's a really douchebag move to derail a thread about submission of someone else, so would you please, please stop being such an asshole about everything?

For those watching the YouTube module, please note that the input at about the 9:18 mark, where Elta can be seen to push against the right edge of the screen, is not part of my submitted input file. This input was added inadvertently between submission and publication. I have sent a message to Guga regarding this, and hopefully this video will soon be replaced with the original interpretation.

NOTE: During my hiatus, TASVideos changed the official SNES Emulator to LSNES. The run was started in 2011, which was almost 2 years before TASVideos changed to LSNES, and I had already gotten nearly halfway through the run, which is why I finished this on SNES9X. I will be using LSNES from now on for all my movies that are going to be published on TASVideos.

I've been using "Published" to mean being a "Publicated" run for this entire thread. He's the one who decided to use a new meaning. I never meant for "Published" to mean published in the game industry. Though he may have inferred it. If there were a different word, I would have used it, but "Publish" is the term this entire site uses as nomenclature for an accepted run.
Well, now you know that "published" has more than one meaning...

Right, using ad hominen INVALIDATES HIS ARGUMENT COMPLETELY TOTALLY. Honestly, you just come here to spit out all your stuff without hearing anyone besides yourself without contribuiting anything valuable or at least WORTHY-
