I'm assuming at level 12 the game stops getting harder? Not entertaining, but definitely seems optimal.

See, here's the problem I have with this darn site. It doesn't offer any help for cleaning brain matter off my walls! And this site makes it happen soooooo often! Yall's need some brain matter cleanup team or somethin, this is an epedemic! Why TASVideos. Why? Why do you hate me so? Yes, my god, yes.

I simply don't think the category is a good choice. To a layperson who doesn't realize what exactly is going on, it looks extremely suboptimal and incomplete (it will often be misinterpereted as 100% completion) even though it's not. And comparing this to a similar category (100% completion), it just isn't as entertaining. Meh vote. It's a solid TAS, but it's not entirely an entertaining one.

Trick? "Benefit" (with the quotes)? In regards to the actual run: I voted no. As interesting as save corruption can be, there's almost no gameplay left, and it's simple moving on an overworld outside the boss fight. Despite the fact I didn't find it entertaining, I do believe it should still be published.

Thanks for the feedback. I asked earlier in the thread if we should slow down the article text at the cost of a much longer movie (although I'm inclined to keep it as using TAS tools to replay is more than sufficient). Now that the full article is out I'm less worried about this part. If you have any thoughts on how you would want to keep a record of what we did live, I'm all ears. This run has a fairly high significance in the history of TASVideos and while even I don't think this should obsolete Pi day I think it's important to preserve it somehow.
Oh, I agree it's important to preserve. This tears me. It *should* stay, but it has no place *to* stay as the site is now. The only thing I can think of is to create a new section for technical demonstrations (as has been suggested before), accept this to that, and link to the AGDQ 2015 live showing as well as having this file as part of the submission. As the current submission stands in front of me, I see that it deserves to be on this site. I don't feel it deserves to be Vault, Moon, or Stars- it's not entertaining enough, on its own, to be Moon or Stars; I don't feel it qualifies for Vault. If a category for technical demonstrations (or something along those lines) were created, I feel this deserves to make it into that category, with a link to the live demonstration as part of the submission. EDIT: Also, in regards to text speed, I don't feel it's necessary to reduce the speed of the article; a link to the article itself as part of the submission is fine.

You simply fish twice from around the dock. When the bobber starts to go down into the water pull back on the Wiimote (hold it vertical). Any fish will make the cat happy. On Gamecube I think it's just pull back on the C-stick (hold down), though it's been a bit since I've played GC version. Fishing is RNG as to length of fish and how long until something bites (In cases where there's multiple fish, it's likely RNG that determines what fish you get, too) AFAIK, you can potentially shorten the latter by throwing it closer to the fish, though it's still RNG how long it will take them to bite. Fastest Day 2 Ordon Fishing involves getting either an 11" on your first fish (whatever fish #2 is, it can't be longer, so no new record, thus shorter text) or getting two 10" fish. 10" into 11" results in a new record for that game file, so you get longer text (Ordon Village, at least that fishing location, only has 10" or 11" fish)

I don't know if this is at all useful info for a TAS or if it has already been discovered, but you can get the Hookshot in the Water Temple before starting any water flows to the central chamber (Wii Version). There is a room with a circular platform above it, the above platform has small circular platforms dangling from it. Normally you're meant to start I think 2 water flows to get the above platform to begin spinning which also causes the smaller attached platforms to begin moving, giving you access to the smaller platforms which will then take you to the miniboss guarding the Dungeon Item. One of the small platforms is located by the passage to the miniboss (before the above platform starts spinning) and it's possible to fall on to that platform from the room above. I discovered this completely by accident the very first time I played through this game. Having the Hookshot opened up so many things I could pointlessly interact with that it made the intended route through the dungeon a confusing mess that I couldn't figure out (So many red herrings confusing me on where to go!). I ended up having to look at a guide for this dungeon and every guide I looked at was very confusing because I was always reading from the point where you get the Hookshot when I should've really been reading from the start of the guides walkthrough for the dungeon lol.
As far as the TAS goes, the TAS is being done on GC version, which doesn't ever hit the second floor in that room, as it simply does a GB double LJ to the ledge. In the Wii version, there is no GB LJ and therefore Wii must go to the second floor of that room. Normally, you'd grab a small key, open the water tower, turn on the water, and then come down, ride the platforms to a small key, then use that small key to open another door to access the miniboss. With the sidehop, you can simply grab the small key you'd use to unlock the water tower and use that to access the miniboss. Possibly usable in any Wii version of a run. Wii Any% likely can sidehop to a different platform to skip the small keys entirely thanks to EBF; Wii 100% would also likely so the same. Glitchless, in my opinion, would still use it but sidehopping to the other platform, not the one right by the boss, as the EBF flag would take too long to set (Neither any% nor 100% glitchless routes I typed save at all before the master sword, which is after Lakebed)

Hasn't been mentioned here yet, so I don't know if I'm stating the obvious, but given the fact that the frame difference due to language would be ignored, wouldn't NTSC 1.0 be fastest anyway because of Cistern Clip? There's little RNG to be manipulated (rupees aren't an issue as the route uses little/none, depending on if you get an Air Potion- would be interesting to see the TAS go potionless, but only if it's overall faster) so the slower text wouldn't matter for that reason.

I must have two-rounded him, been going through and that's exactly what happened (only in fight 2 vs him). Sorry about that. Good luck with the TAS!

Unfortunately as I'm not recording (yet) I'm going off pure memory but I do know all I did was spam A (I'm playing on the Wii) and he just went backward. If it's not working in one cycle either I was mistaken and did two or something else is messed up. Next time I get a save close to that fight I'll see about practicing it. Unfortunately we're nowhere close to it yet so I'd be unable to try for at least a few days. If it's my memory erring on me my apoligies, but I've been watching this thread looking for some ideas on my own attempts at running and figured I'd share what happened to me. Good luck at absolutely breaking this game into shards smaller than what Midna breaks the Mirror into.

I know you two are well past Sumoing, but I was curious about it. Halfway through a 100% glitchless playthough ATM (non-Tas, working towards NSQ but currently S/Q at specific points to take a break from a 14h or so run, until I work on getting it down lower) and I had a Mayor Bo sumo where he went for a slap and I grabbed him and pushed him out in one grab. This happened twice (he fights twice). My question was, did this ever happen when you were working on that segment and, if it did, how much slower is it (I assume if it happened you didn't keep it because it was slower) than slap and grab?
