I don't know what exactly "going through blocks without ceilings" means, but I'm guessing it's probably the same as "Application: Jump into a solid object below a floor" in our GameResource page. It's impossible to go through the bricks without a ceiling in 4-2 the same way like my SMB warped run (although it can be done in this particular place due to the coin, using a slightly different way), so are many other solid walls. Making a movie showing every glitch we know in SMB would seem impossible to me, if you really meant "every glitch". SMB has glitches that can be only shown in hacks, for example, the "springboard of death" glitch you've told (as far as I know). In order to do that, you have to make your own hack that would make every possible glitch come true. If you only meant to make a normal playaround, that can be arranged. But still, an interesting playaround requires lots of knowledge and skills. And if you aim to show as much glitches as possible, that would be a huge project. To me, a short playaround with a nice routine would be good, and a well-made hack is more suitable than the original SMB to me. By the way, if you know nothing about the "passing through blocks" glitches, I can hardly believe that you know many glitches, possibly not even half of them. I can't say that I remember every glitch known myself, but there are over thirty different ways of passing through blocks, and still there are lots of glitches a lot harder than those, some of which are never performed in any TASes here. So please be a bit more modest, and start practicing from the beginning.

Finally, the second WIP, and it's totally awesome! I wonder what happend to Yoshi in the end, because it's totally messed up, and I can't help lovin' it! One thing that I've been a bit disappointed on is that ISM tried to improve the entertainment a little harder than you did, and your WIP seem to have lost some fun in some places compared to ISM's WIP. For example, Dount Plains 2 (both times, especially when duplicating the coin blocks), Vanilla Dome 2 (the part outside the water zone), Vanilla Ghost House (the part when meeting the first big boo), Lemmy's Castle (I'd like to see playing with the mushroom, it's easy but fun). Please don't mind me saying these, because overall I love this run, even if places like those won't get improved. I am also sure that this is gonna be one of the greatest runs ever! Keep up the good work!

IF the Stars were just given by the ratings, then it would be a loss of meaning to both Stars and the rating system. And IF tiers were merely sorted by entertainment and tech quality ratings, it would be better that we simply find ways to improve our rating system instead of to set up different kinds of tiers.

I think we should keep things simple on this site, and that's why I would prefer the original system. Of course, some movies seem interesting, while some movies seem boring, but there are still lots of movies struggling between them. It's subjective, and personally I don't prefer we tier movies this way. We have movie categories for Demos and Playarounds, and I don't like to see them blended with Stars and Moons. Even though Vault would lower the entertainment of movies on our site on average, I'm not against that, because it does have some meanings. But I think we shouldn't change the meaning of Stars and Moons. After all, not every movie is special, most of them are just regular ones which don't need tiers. Although we have many ideal systems in our minds, I still think we should keep things simple on TASVideos, because sometimes the simplest way is the best, and it would keep the administrators and judges less busy.

I (might) found a small bug in the publication page. Shouldn't "Notable Improvements" be a lightning bolt? But in the publication page it appears to be a moon. Edit: Thanks, Ilari. It's my fault. I got it right after changing another browser.

What about the SMW glitched run? Will it go to the vault instead of the 10-minute any% run?

Looks like I'm not the only one that often imagines TASing in real life. Seems like all TASers do in some level. I would win a lottery ticket, and then do whatever I want. More specifically, for example, I could eat whatever I feel like to, and not worry about my health or weight or my money. I would use this super power to make a perfect man out of myself. I would even manipulate luck to help my best friends to get their better lives, but I'm not going to tell anyone about my TASing power. Sometimes I feel that it's really a pity that we can't TAS our real lives like we do on emulators. If we had make one wrong choice in our lives, we would probably go wrong for the rest of our lives, and that's cruel. So I'd really love to have TASing powers in real life, even imagine it for a while...

It's pretty much about ended. Thanks to KFCMario, we saved 2 frames in 8-4. But I have to check out whether it's possible to save more, and some of the entertainment needs to be improved. Sorry that I've been terribly busy with my science project, but I'm sure we'll bring you want you'd love to see soon. So please be patient. :)

Yes, zaphod77 is correct. That's exactly the calculation I did. I already had a suspicion that Happylee's solution would clear 19 lines, because 34 pieces * 4 + 54 garbage blocks = 190 = 19 lines. The picture confirms this. (I also had 54 garbage blocks + 4 * 49 pieces = 250 blocks = 25 lines). The number of garbage blocks is random, if I remember correctly, it will vary between like 50 and 55. It is indeed very possible to do it with 34 pieces if you get 114 garbage blocks, but it is very impossible to get that many garbage blocks. I tried a lot of random initial states, and 54 was the highest I could ever get. Getting 58 garbage blocks (meaning you would need 1 tetris piece less) is very unlikely I think, given what I tested. Even if it is possible (which I doubt), I think manipulating it would cost more time than dropping that single block, given that I tested random initial states for a lot of frames. Something that could save time would be finding an initial setup that allows you to have fewer line-clear animations, by having on average more lines cleared per line-clear. I did try to optimize this in my TAS though, and finding an initial state that allows this may cost more time to manipulate than the line-clear animation takes. Long story short, HappyLee's solution aims for the fastest possible bravo in B-mode. His solution clears 19 lines in total, which does not complete B-mode, and if the movie is stopped at that point, you would see pieces falling downwards in a straight line until game over. I do believe that actually clearing B-mode is a requirement for this TAS.
Oh, I'm sorry. I thought clearing all blocks would just complete the B-mode. I don't see why the number 25 is so important. :( So what would be our goal exactly after we manipulate the garbage blocks? We waste about 15 blocks on the top, and then clear the garbage blocks with 34 pieces? Would that be the fastest solution to this mess? Sorry I'm deeply confused.

I am still puzzled by how you can do it with only 34 pieces. Besides getting a bravo, it is also required that you get this bravo while clearing the 25th line, and thereby clearing B-mode. Just erasing all the garbage tiles and getting a bravo, but not completing B-mode is not enough. Maybe I'm mistaken, but what you claim sounds... impossible to me. I would love to be proven wrong though, so yeah, I would be very interested in that picture if it explains something.
Alright, here's the photo. I hope it explains something, and I hope it's a correct solution, because I'm mainly a SMB player and I hardly ever played Tetris. http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/mm22/HappyLee12/HLTetris.gif Terribly sorry for my bad drawings, they are barely readable, so for those of you who aren't interested with my solution, I strongly don't recommend you to see it. This I think would work in theory, but in order to get it done, you need plenty of luck manipulation. I have other solutions as well, that don't need so much "straight pieces", but they are slow in theory, due to more total droping time and more "clean-up" count. I can easily solve the upper stage faster and left the puzzle done with 3 rows instead of 2 (but it has more total droping time therefore I didn't use it), but I don't find it possible to get a "bravo" with 29 pieces or less in the very same level.

I don't really know what you mean by these "blocks" you are talking about. If you mean "pieces dropped", then I would be very interested how you did this while still meeting the "bravo" requirement.
Thank you, Baxter. It does mean "pieces dropped", sorry for my bad description. I've found 4 different solutions to solve the very same puzzle with 34 pieces up to now, and the last one seems to be the fastest solution, because it has reached the fewest "clean-up (I don't know what it's called)" count in theory, and most of the pieces were put on an upper level (which saved some droping time), which means it's almost perfect. Unfortunately I have to manipulate luck lots of time to get it done, but I think it would be worth it. I have the whole solution drawn on papers. It wasn't drawn very properly, but understandable I think. But now I probably won't use it, since I believe I can manipulate better garbage blocks to start with. So if you still want to see the solution, I'd be happy to take a photo and upload it to you.

In mode B, there is no way to get to those (without hacking or corruption).

Well, Baxter used NTSC, so I think it should be used.

Ah, these endpoint discussions... I say that if you decide to go through luck manipulation route, ensure that the manipulation you do saves more time in the actual level than what the luck manipulation itself loses.
Thank you. Question 1 & 2 is for what PikachuMan said, he said it is impossible to start at levels higher than 19 outside cheating or hacking, and he suggested to use PAL version. And sorry I didn't get your answer about question 3. Since level 19 is random, we can manipulate luck to get an easier map to solve, but I think it would ruin the meaning of the TAS in some level, and I don't know what to choose.

Sorry to bring this old topic up, but I'm planning to make a TAS of Tetris "Mode B". I think Baxter's run is much improvable, and I've already got solutions to complete the very same level with 34 blocks instead of 49 blocks. I have a few questions, and I need some advice. 1. How do we get to levels 20-29? 2. Do I have to start the run on the PAL version? 3. I didn't know that level 19 is random at first, and now I'm confused about what to choose. If I manipulate luck and get a combination that's fastest to be solved, would it destroy the meaning of this TAS? Or should I enter level 19 as soon as possible without manipulating luck?

Yes, thanks for asking. KFCMario has finished 8-3, but I don't think that the entertainment is good enough, so we would probably have to redo it. Also, KFCMario has found another 1-frame improvement in the water stage of 8-4. We're going to finished it soon.

http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/582605642053180 Here is me and KFCMario's latest work, a "Luigi version" TAS for SMB2J. We're at 8-1 right now, and up to now, 105 frames are saved. The improvements come from 1-1, 1-2 and 5-2, and we're looking forward to seeing more improvements in world 8. All the input was done by me. It's really hard work to complete every stage as entertaining as possible, so please bring comments after watching the WIP. Thank you.

I have no idea, either. Maybe 1 single frame doesn't matter that much, since it's eaten by some kind of weird frame rule in the game, what I care about more is the entertainment. Looks like the entertainment of DP2 truly needs improving, playing with 2 or 3 shells and enting 2 birds like ISM did seem more interesting to me. Good luck with that. I'm glad to see that there are lots of places with the entertainment greater than ISM's, but unfortunately there are other places that aren't, such like the water stage. Overall, I enjoyed watching your WIP, and I'll be strongly supporting this project. Hope you get better luck next time.

The reason's simple: NicoVideo is banned in China as long as Youtube and other video sites for some reasons. It's a pity that we Chinese can't enjoy from the interesting things of those sites.
