You have convinced me that this might be a interesting run. But there's still some doubt that kept me hesitated about it: 1. Extremely high difficulty and it would take months (maybe years for me) to finish; 2. Less meaningful, doesn't prove anything or achieve something considered impossible to most of the people; 3. Less creative goal, more like a "show off"; 4. I'm not that interested in collecting coins, although I would collect as much coins as possible in my warpless run for entertainment. Coins are still very cheap and useless to me. Mars seems to love to see a TAS like this. I think I'll make a DEMO for world 1 or something while I'm free. I've got too busy working on my own science project these days.

Talking about differences, a "maximum coins" run would be a lot like the warpless run, especially after world 4. And I think levels such like 2-3 and 7-3 world be exactly the same.

Thinking different, that's what I thought too. But talking about Maximum coins in SMB, it's more than large, it's a huge project indeed, so just trying is way not enough. And the amount of the work may be way bigger than the meaning of doing all those if you know what I mean. Most of the coins world be got without any glitches in that TAS, probably you need to pay more attention to coin blocks. There's going to be lots of slow-downs just for a few coins, so whoever wants to work on this has to be prepared, and also for the cheep-cheep glitch in 2-3 and 7-3 I guess. If it's just hard or challenging, I'll do it. But this looks like hard but not so meaningful to me, so I'll pass. I don't know if we really need a maximum coins branch of SMB on TASVideos. Since we've rejected my lowest score TAS, I guess maximum coins doesn't stand a chance, unless it's extremely powerful and entertaining.

Well, walkathon can at least prove that SMB can be done without pressing B button. Lowest score can at least prove that we can complete the game with only the score of grabbing the flagpoles by avoiding unnecessary objects. These two tasks are both hard in its way, and many of the normal people would consider it impossible. But, as we all know, coins grow back after you die in the level, and how easy to get infinite lives in 3-1 and such. So what I'm afraid is, people would say: "so I've seen your performance of getting all the coins, but what's the point? There's still some coins you haven't got, and I can easily beat that by using death, no big deal, because I have infinite lives anyway..." Maximum coins sounds more like a "show off", but what exactly does it want to prove?

If you're so much interested in coins, why not watch a run of mine? HL Coins Land (original SMB1 Hack) TAS in 10:49.38 (2011.2) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8elHTkNlbc As for coins in SMB, they do not have much effect, and they are not precious because there are lots of them. Taking all those coins, but there's nowhere to spend them, how could that make any difference? And with all the known glitches about SMB, a TAS like that would be a huge project, which I'm not interested in.

The word "popular" depends on who should judge it. Like my "lowest score 500" run, rejected here, but got at least 3 million viewers on Youku. To me, as always, lowest score is the best possible route there is besides all the TASes published here.

Max coins vs. All coins. The winner is obvious. Just compare the routes each time.
Agreed, collect the maximum amount possible of coins. And if two mutually exclusive routes produce the exact same amount of coins, choose the one that's faster.
What's the use, coins seem to be the one of the most unnecessary kinds of objects in SMB system, and there's plenty of them! You can easily get infinite coins by dying again and again, even if dying is banned, I bet hardly someone would like to spend more than half an hour just to watch Mario get a lot of coins. And besides, the current warpless run of mine gets plenty of coins.

I spent the better part of 3 hours trying to double wallkick on the left wall to get up over the coins in 1-1 and I don't think it can be done. Feel free to prove me wrong, of course.
Of course it's possible, me and mars won't take 1 minute to solve that. And "all coins" sounds like a pretty stupid goal to me. It's pointless to get them all, and you have to kill yourself many times in order to do that. Minimum score is a better goal to me, clear and challenging.

I don't know whether this is related to my movies, but what you said doesn't make sense to me. We do not just aim for the fastest time on TASes, we preform, and we create entertainment. Sorry if you don't find backwards jumping entertaining, you can watch regular runs instead to avoid "crazy" things only seen in TASes.

Really? Why would you think taking a hit at the pipe might same time? The only stage possible to be improved should be the one with a walljump, I think.

Can't watch Nicovideo for being Chinese. Is there a available smv version of the freerun? Edit: Or Youtube, which seems a little easier to watch thanks to special Youtube proxies.

I saw x264 updated few months ago, and "--fullrange" exists no longer, so the command line was replaced as "--input-range pc --range pc" on the Encoding page. I was concerned about whether 2 command line are exactly the same (just the change of a name) or different. And can anyone tell me which does better job encoding TAS movies, thank you very much!

I just don't understand. You don't know what variables came into play when it came to manipulating your Cheep-cheeps? Is it input based? Timing based? Any ideas you can give me would help...I'd just like to know how you managed to do this in your own run, that's all.
If you put it that way, I have to say again that I have no idea how exactly Cheep-cheeps work. It's a very complicated problem and I hardly have any solution. It seems to me that keeping trying and trying is the only way to solve it out. In your case, just try to change both the combination of killing and the speed when manipulating Cheep-cheeps lots of times, and you may get the right fish. But I still don't think it can save any press, and I still strongly recommend you to give up the idea of doing Cheep-cheep glitch. Whether you'll take it, it's all up to you.

The Nero AAC Encoder is actually delaying the audio. We're removing the delay.
Well, why would the encoder do that? I still don't get it...

Recently Ilari mentioned that my encode was lack of AR correction. Well I haven't realized that before, so I read the Encoding Guide again but haven't got any information about AR correction, either have Googled it. Could somebody tell me what is AR correction, and what's it used for. Thank you!

Well I've got an idea, why don't we set the goal in this way: * No using death * No entering the same exit twice (or more than twice) I think in this way we can avoid boring backtrack and leave some place for the Chuck-eating glitch whenever it can truly save time. Is there any problems with this goal? Otherwise, I suggest that we should just completely avoid using Chuck-eating glitch because it kills entertainment.

Does anyone know in detail how to manipulate the flying Cheep-Cheeps? I want to use one of them to avoid an additional jump during 2-3 in my Warpless MP TAS.
Looks like I'm probably the only one who can offer some help now. Memory watching won't help you manipulate Cheep-cheeps, at least in my opinion, so it seems that you're on your own. Do make sure you REALLY wanna do this, 'cause a Warpless MP TAS might not be so meaningful (the way I see it) that requires manipulating the hardest enemy of all, besides there are quite possibly more improvements before 2-3 and 7-3. Therefore I strongly suggest you pay more attention to the rest of the levels, and just give up the idea of manipulating Cheep-cheeps. If you have to do it the very hard way, you'll most likely loose more, and regreting would be too late. If anyone who can or wants to break the flying Cheep-cheeps' code of SMB, please connect me. I may help those in need to test it, and Brandon too if he doesn't take my advice.

Published at last! The publication work had lasted like 5 days. I think what I made is a star-quality movie, so does Noob Irdoh in his comments, why can't it have a moon at least? By the way, could Brandon tell me what's wrong with my primary encode that hasn't made it to the publication? It helps me improve my encoding next time.
