Another choice would be a new playaround TAS, as our current SMAS SMB3 playaround TAS probably got old... By the way, is it possible to do ACE with this version?

I like this run. It's even more entertaining than the NES version in many ways. Voting yes.

Wonderful work. Glad to see SMB3 improved further. Will make a comparison video as soon as RAT926's question is answered. Edit: Here's the comparison video (to learn more about the specific improvements). Link to video

OK, now I know. But as I understand it, any movie can fit into the description (work-in-progress movies, or movie files that are not intended to be published). Movies submitted there don't even get a decent title, and very few people seem to take those movies seriously. I randomly clicked several latest movies submitted there, and they all have zero comment. No one really cares. I said from the beginning, that this is not for publication, because I don't want to give any judge any pressure to reject this, not because I was fooling around or didn't want this movie to be taken seriously. Of course I wouldn't submit anything that's crap and waste everyone's time! For all I know, it still could be the first decent full-length speedrun done entirely by a bot. May not be interesting to you, but all I said is that it might be interesting or even an inspiration to some. Does that mean anything?

So much negativity here. This may not be much, but still the best a bot can do to TAS a popular game. This submission, I said, is not for publication, but still is a serious submission, as it might be an interesting experiment for some. As for the other movies people posted, some of them is not exactly a speedrun as it doesn't complete the game but only goes loop-like for hours, and some of them is not done entirely by a bot. This is a bot that actually completes SMB. So if you're to convince people that this is not anything new, you probably need better examples.

Forgive me for not knowing this. I truly don't know if this can be an interesting submission for some people, because though I've seen TASes done partially by a bot before, this might be the first full-length TAS done entirely by a bot, so it might mean something, or not, I don't know.

Correct, so it shouldn’t be submitted here, it should go to Userfiles.
I thought that's for "Newest WIPs" as the title says. This experiment is not an WIP but already a full speedrun. It won't bring anyone any pressure to reject this, anyway.

No, this is a serious TAS made by a bot. The bot's new here, so please don't break its heart.

I agree with Masterjun on the goal being arbitrary. But a Linux VVVVVV TAS is always interesting to see. I wonder if libTAS can be more precise than Hourglass...

During recording a movie, savestates load much slower, probably because it checks if there's a mismatch between savestate's movie and current movie every time. It gets increasingly slower as the length of the movie gets larger. Right now I'm working on a script that requires lots of savestates and runs during movie recording. Time is a key factor so I certainly don't like it to run increasingly slower as the movie gets longer. The older version FCEU probably doesn't have such problem, but unfortunately my script is not compatible with FCEU for some reasons. Can we add an option in the Movie Options, something like "Check savestate & movie mismatch every time", so we can manually not let it check mismatch every time to speed it up? Or if there are other ways to speed up loading savestates, especially as the movie gets longer? Thanks.

It turns out to be another right prediction, but I really feel Croatia has played extremely well in this World Cup. That penalty is really devastating for Croatia. They almost controlled the game before that.

Unfortunately, two of my predictions have come true. I really hoped Brazil would have the chance to meet France. Brazil played very beautifully and showed top-of-the-world strength, and I think would beat Sweden and England very easily. Too bad it met another strong team Belgium and stopped so soon. I have no idea whether France or Belgium would be in the final, but I predict the one that got in the final would beat Croatia and win the World Cup.

That's perfectly understandable. SMW TASing (especially the 96-exit TAS) is so complicated that very few people in the world can truly understand what you're dealing with. Best wishes to you and your project.

Maybe he was truly in great pain, who knows, so I don't care whether it's exaggerated performance or not. This Brazilian team is truly the best I‘ve seen in many years, and certainly has potentials. But it‘s going to meet Belgium and maybe France, which are also very strong teams. The other side with Russia, Columbia, England, Sweden and Switzerland looks weaker to me. Maybe Croatia has the most potential to go into the final.

Amen to that, so you don't have to go through the redo process again.

Also I want to say I initially intended to publish at least one WIP of this run, but I realized doing so would very likely result in someone finding some improvement early on, and I know I would want to go back and fix it, which would make this run to never be finished. So I rather not knowing about possible improvements until I'm done :)
So that's why. I finally get it. I guess it's what happened to ISM back when he was making the 96-exit TAS. Maybe it's better to keep in discussion with people who are capable of finding improvements once a stage is done, so you'll have more confidence with no improvement being left? Looking forwards to your masterpiece!

I believe some human beings are capable of taking polls entirely (or almost) objectively. Others can be subjective to some extent, and that should be OK as long as it doesn't violate the rules and guidelines.

It's extremely hard to stay perfectly neutral when our work is under attack and suffers from unprecedented criticisms which it never earned. Also, mostly what I did in this thread was merely defending our work.

As a non-diplomatist, non-native-English-speaker, frankly I don't have the time and energy to be extremely polite and cautious with words all the time (it's hard for me to type so many words already), especially when me and our work are clearly the victims here. I think we should care about facts more than tones. I just want to present my opinions straightforwardly, and again, if I ever were insulting or unfair to anyone (which I never meant to), I apologize for that.

The users of this site collectively are known to come down extremely hard on people who step out of line (however that occurs); that has happened a countless number of times in the past. I recommend not to get on the wrong side of anyone on TASVideos, no matter how they act.
I think it's just wrong to group attack or push away people with different opinions, especially when I haven't violated any forum rules or voting guidelines. I always want to do the right things, so it's hard to see why I'm on the wrong side of anyone or anything according to you. Also, if anyone has an opinion of me or thinks I'm wrong, just point it out whenever I behave poorly or say anything wrong (and we can talk about that), but it's never right to place personal vengeance on our work. Also you know what happens when TASVideos starts to do things like this as a group? Talented people may leave or eventually shut up just to hide their opinions.

That's true. Normally I wouldn't mind, but the same logic applies to TAS work. We have put a lot of hard work into our run, but our work wasn't respected by many people in the first place, and still hasn't been now. What's even more disappointing is that few people cares like I do, and many people are still blaming me over this and demanding me to shut up.

I already said that the compatibility encode has issues of dropping frames in many places. It's very noticeable to me since I'm an SMB TASer. If you don't believe me, check out for 1-1 after the second pipe frame by frame, and you'll see what I mean.

If you really give a damn, how about watching some parts of the encoded videos to make sure they're fine before making them official?
