Each weapon pod hit and weapon pick up is worth 500 each. Might be from that. I dont know if he picks up anything more than me though

AnS, Now that I know it is possible to get past the purple pillars, I am going to be working on mine to get the shots out. I dont know if I will be able to, but I do at least plan on trying. Edit: I just went back over it, and he is able to get past the pillars that I shot because he shot the pillars just before them, giving him a different spawning location after death.

Soig, does it really matter what others think? Voting and the talk in this thread are all about just people that are not judges expressing how they feel about the TAS that is being presented to them. You have to realize that not everyone is going to like what you create for one reason or another. But the fact is that it does not matter. What matters is how you feel about it. And as far as getting it onto the site is how the judges feel. I created my TAS and am very happy with it. I dont care that people bashed it, or any of my speedruns over on SDA. You should just be happy that you accomplished something. Why is that not enough?

I will say that I did it in my TAS as well. I did it to manipulate the purple pillars in the 7 to move closer so I could progress. Soig was able to get past them with out hitting them though. I dont know how he did it... Edit: Just made it to stage 5 in teh Super C TAS you linked, and because of the death abuse they used, they now are going to kill stuff in stage 7 that is unnecessary. I know how the run can be planned out properly, but it would still be tough to get everything to go in place as it should be if going for pure speed.

Nice run, great manipulation, and thanks for the shout outs. This run should get posted over mine, but this run is exactly what I did not want to create. The idea of a 2p run does seem interesting and could be done in both Contra and Super C if you allow one player to die off then steal a life as Marx mentioned before. I dont think i will do though. I would be more than willing to help out if anyone does decide to attempt it. No hard feelings about topping my tas. I believe the games should get represented the best they can be, the name attached makes no difference.

Maybe idk. This is true pacifist. #1545: Xipo's NES Ninja Gaiden 2 in 11:10.68
So out of the 6 "pacifist" runs on the site, only 1 is a real pacifist and it was the last one put on the site?

Pacifist and minimalist/low% are 2 different things correct?

Would that look really ugly though? Then again, Battletoads did it...

Not enough lives to get them both threw stage 7 though.

I'm doing this run now. And I've improved 927 frames(~15.45 seconds) until stage 7. I'll finish it tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. Also, I think 2P record can be improved. Due to 1 frame faster at main menu. And stage 1's boss fighting's bug.
Awesome. Any chance of posting your current WIP? I would like to see it. I am sure most of your time gain is from spawn manipulation that I chose to forgo in most areas. AnS: Thanks, I will change that. I did not know. Edit: Just took a look at it. WOW it it nice. Thanks for the tip.

I dont mean to be rude or be the guy that always needs to be right, but... Charged F shots are only good for the first shot if you are not point blank. The explosion causes extra bullets to be on screen and makes it so you can not shoot another shot. The time it takes for the extra shots to leave the screen allowing another shot is longer than a normal shot and only causes 1-2 extra points of damage causing a loss of frames in the long run. About stage 1 boss, my tas is almost on par with the current 2p tas and FAR faster then the old 1p tas that uses fire. I have already explained the manipulation of the spawns in my notes and also quoted them in the thread. I am more than willing to answer any questions that come up if any one wants clarification on any aspect of my tas.

I chose to not manipulate most spawns as I felt it gave more entertainment over the Contra TAS. That was a general rule I used unless a section was either really tight or the spawns make it impossible to pass. Improvements can be made just by simply going for pure speed. But I think that would take all the fun out of this run.
I made this with the intention of entertainment. Speed was a priority but I chose to have a higher quality of entertainment rather than manipulate everything to make it look like the Contra TAS.

Shooting them was to get them to move forward as to be able to have enough I-frames to pass threw them. I will add that to the submission text. Thanks for pointing that out.

I believe the mouth wont open until the center core is destroyed. Ill look into it though. EDIT: Ya, the mouth wont open with out the core being destroyed first. I let it spit balls at me for a bit. Only thing that I did not test is it would time out. But I doubt it as no other boss does that I know of.

And here is my final WIP Stage 8. .fm2 http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1055585679/8.fm2 I will edit this with my junk Youtube encode (foes, please teach me how to make them proper like you) Youtube link http://youtu.be/B2874GuREnk Also, if anyone is willing so suggest screen shot frames, I would be grateful. I am going to leave this up and submit on Monday. Give some others a chance to save TAS videos some time in judging it if yall feel it would not get accepted. Please do know that I did do some speed/entertainment trade offs. Some are more noticeable that others, but feel free to ask questions and such.

Ok, with a bit more experimenting, I was able to get threw stage 7 w/o killing anything. Currently working on the boss and then stage 8. I should be good to submit either tonight or tomorrow.
