Wow, I can't believe you finished it already, and already published before I knew it :O Will watch the last bit I haven't seen already right away! Edit: Just finished watching, it looked brilliant, I was glad that you went into Tree Tops, and kept on overtaking the green thief, skipping Gnorc Cove was brilliant, and I actually had my fingers crossed that you'd use the supercharge in someway to skip twilight harbour. Last of all, overtaking Gnasty Gnorc multiple times was enjoyable, and I'm glad you managed to finish this TAS, which looked very optimised all the way through :)

Absolutely fantastic, I found myself thoroughly entertained throughout, although the highlight was certainly the Wizard's Peak Supercharge, without a doubt. Brilliant gem collection, excellent optimisation, with the only downside being that I was slightly disappointed to discover that you had to take damage to collect the firework gems quicker. Great work, I look forward to completion :)

I'd be happy to do this. I play this game quite often, am decent with emulators, and love this game so much. Hutch, I don't fully understand if you are going to do this or not, or if we could possibly do a duo!, but I'd still love to do this, as this is my favourite videogame ever. If you want anything or need some help discovering routes, I'm never really busy so I can help, and teach you anything you need to know. (this is under the assumption that someone may need some new glitch or tactic)
Uhmmm, you've misunderstood everything :) Torn is the main TASer of this, I was working on Spyro 3 and gave up (whether temporarily or not is not yet decided :)) Lapogne and myself are currently just helping with planning.

First is new, second is old - some other guy did it without going on the outside hill. I wonder if using that glitch on Aquaria towers you could go half inside the wall of each of the towers with the baby seahorses to save time? Although doesn't it respawn you in the centre at the top of each one? As I said on skype (although you probably haven't logged in Torn), the ROM I downloaded didn't work, so I'll try again soon, but I just got a 3ds, so I'm having a bit of fun with that atm :)
Yeah first is new to me afaik, maybe new in general :P.. Second is old, and obvious :D ... According to the guy of the video, the game doesn't check to see if you've done all of baby seahorse towers, so you could just do #6 and get the orb. As for respawning, not sure I'll check tomorrow (it's 5:15 AM for me atm, kinda too tired to check). [lie]Torn always checks his skype[/lie]. You should redl when you can :D, enjoy the 3Ds, you get Zelda 3D??
1. Good :) 2. redl?? redo? If so, redo what, download of the ROM? 3. Naa, too expensive, I actually started playing it for the first time very slowly on project 64 shortly before the announcement/release of it on the 3ds, so I'm going to buy mkds, and preorder mk3ds (I'm a regular in the mario kart/mario kart wii community)

I can help you if you want for the route planing. Also about your video, I already see the same thing a long time ago on youtube, but I was not able to find it again.
Thanks that would really be appreciated. I figured it was already found but I couldn't find a video of it, that's why I didn't say it was new or something :P ... I'm currently at 6835 rerecords and I'm not even 2 minutes into the actual playing, so it'll take a while before I even finish Glimmer up. Also, I was thinking for summer forest to postpone collection a few gems until after we were to come back from Autumn Plains. As for a small (undetailed) explanation it'd be like (say I'm just now coming out of Glimmer) get the gems that are to the right of Spyro and circle around. I'm pretty sure that it'd be faster to charge down the steps and get all of the gems in the room where if you fail hunter shows up, and then to get back up use the whirlwind. As you exit that room, ignore the gem on the left (should be a red gem) because we can get that coming back from Autumn Plains. It'd be good to get all gems except for that one in this area, as for the gems in the water, I'll have to see a route for it to be split up with since we're going there 2 times. As for the rest of the gems, they'll be split up going along with the route you proposed like a year ago. I think the next few months will be spent on just this bit, so nothing to worry about on the Winter Tundra until I/we get there.
I partly understood that wall of text ;) I have a little bit of a route for Summer Forest - after getting Hunter's orb, then gliding over to the other orb, like you discussed a year ago, you can go through the cave backwards getting the gems, and once out, use this swimming glitch: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1bhvwD0I1Ac Which could make some gem collecting a bit easier before entering the next level, and/or possibly be used to get orb above sunny beach and hurricos without having to climb (even with climb while backtracking to Sunny Beach would be quite slow?) Also, I have a possible idea to skip climbing in Sunny Beach - I'm downloading a NTSC-U ROM right now, just checking you're using NTSC-U too?

With a few small exceptions, only TASs started from power-on are accepted on this site. Also, as there is no exact target for the TAS, I doubt it would be published here, but feel free to make it if you think it will be entertaining, and you don't mind it not being published once you've finished it.

I've definitely saved time over Glimmer now. I also was wondering if anyone would help volunteer to help me with the route planning or actual playing? Improving what I have an what not, this run is going to take quite a while to do just by myself. As for the overall route plan, it's pretty solid in my opinion to Winter Tundra, but I mean like each state, like "Glimmer's route" or "Idle Springs route" ... Something of that nature :p. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8U2oZIOkTBw Note on the above: Was this really never found??? It seems rather obvious, and it saves coming back to this part of Glimmer iirc. That part was just a demonstration too, say in the real TAS: I'd have done hit the first 2 lizards and got most of the gems down in the area. I'll figure out a good path to use for that in the end. That's a bit I had on Glimmer, and I'm quite sure (like 99% here) it'd save time by not having to revisit that area.. And when I hit the final lizard, getting the orb, instead of going to that area, it'd be alot simpler to just hit straight forward for the talisman and then finish the level.
I think bobmario or someone else found that you could flame in a double jump, and used this for some of the gem thingies in the cave, but I don't think anyone tried this for outside, so nice work, this'll save a lot of time. As I said before, I'll gladly do my bit with route planning, although my knowledge of Spyro 2 is less than 1 and 3. If you want to add each other on skype/msn PM me please.

"TASVideos is always down when I need it xD (like everyday).... If you're talking about where I triple jump @ 0:24 ... I had trouble finding it possible to hit the enemy, and hit both the barrels without doing so. I just barely hit both the enemy and barrels hit boxes at the same time (and was within 1-5 frame distance of it's hit box, I think less than 3 but can't remember off the top of my head). As for gliding at the end: Glide speed = 25, charge jump in air = 24 :p." Using TASVideos to reply now as it's easier :) About the jumping, I was more meaning the large jumps between the small islands rather than the small jump for the enemy, and I know that the gliding at the end is quicker, I changed to that in my WIP after noticing it in Lapogne's run. "Also continuing from what I said down there... This isn't like the final tid bit, I'mma do multiple ones of just this 32 second part to completely frame whore it... But I wanted to basically get the hype out big time in advance before I put up the WIPs I'll have (just like Grunz did, though Zelda vs Spyro, I'm sure Zelda has a waybigger audience :p)" I'm glad that that teaser isn't going in the final run, I was feeling it didn't look very optimised :P I also hope that this can grab a lot of attention, as when I contemplate doing my Spyro 3 TAS, one of my problems getting the motivation to continue it is the lack of support that unfortunately isn't there for that game :D

then why don't you make one?
we are busy either doing other games, making encodes, maintaining the site, coding emulators ect... we arent looking for quantity, or you would see already a run for every game made, we look for quality
You are saying never post again if I don't use frame advance? I am against it. Some people like cheese on their burger some people don't. Some people like frame advance other don't.
I don't understand you, the whole purpose of this site is to complete games as quickly as possible, and choosing not to use a tool to complete a game quicker is idiotic. Furthermore, using your refusal to use frame advance is a poor excuse for a badly optimised and slow run - the Mario Kart Wii TASers have produced excellent results without the use of frame advance, but with tireless work and extensive patience - something you don't seem to have. Please carefully consider all of the above statements before making another TAS.

This is quite old, (obviously from the upload date), but if you find markushobelsberger on youtube, he has a video of many other places in the game that it can be done, but I don't really how it could save time?

I really enjoyed watching this! It's amazing seeing the extremely high level of optimisation and effort each and every TASer has put into this so far. 'To the top of the fortress', the end of VCutM and BoB red coins were the stars I most enjoyed seeing :D I look forward to the far-off completion of this TAS.

Brilliant work, I can see how much effort and time you spent on this TAS, and although I haven't played the game before, I thoroughly enjoyed watching it. A extremely deserved Yes vote.

Since this egg doesn't want to hatch, you should exchange it for the last egg of Crystal Islands. About your WIP, you should have get the 3 gems at 2:33 while the door was close, and you should have speak to Hunter before going to Cloud Spires because it will save a lot of time.
Although I admit I should've gotten the green gem, I didn't notice that, but getting the red gem would lose time, and isn't worth it, especially when I can get all the gems I want in Sheila's alp without losing any time. I'll consider swapping the egg route, thanks for giving your opinion on the fastest alternative, I agree the whack-a-mole could probably be quite fast, but it's such a shame to purposely take a slower route due to a problem that isn't actually based in the game, and only on the emulator. If I do continue, I'll do so in a few weeks, and when I get to certain points, such as Midday Gardens Homeworld and Spike's Boss battle, I'd appreciate help with route planning and luck manipulation (the latter of which I have no clue how to do). Edit: I forgot to mention that I didn't speak to Hunter on purpose, because by watching the IAS video, I saw that you only need to speak to hunter once to get the egg - so when I come out of Cloud Spires, Hunter will automatically jump over to my platform, and as I glide to the cave entrance, he'll jump automatically once again and the talk to me and give me the egg. Edit2: Forgot to say on video that from 3:20 to 3;25, I don't press the X button once, as the elevator makes me jump with pressing x in a similar way to the proxy jump I demonstrated. Just a little tidbit of random info.

Game: Spyro 3 (Year of the Dragon) Goal: Beat the Sorceress (Collect 100 eggs) Author: Hutch Emulator: PSXjin 2.0.2 Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PKT0tWXosiA Status: 9 eggs collected before emulation glitch encountered. Discussion: http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7487

Just making this post to link to the WIP video I made of my TAS so far. Unfortunately, I once again encountered the emulation glitch with the egg after restarting the whole run, and altering the egg route. Note that if I chose not to go in the superfly minilevel, the ACT (Automatic Challenge Tuning) would not turn on, meaning the enemy would not appear, and the emulation glitch wouldn't occur. So, this TAS is hold, whether permanently, or temporarily, although if I do come back to it, it will probably be in a very long time. Here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PKT0tWXosiA

It might be, it'd definitely will be easier than MediEvil... Though to be honest, a good game like Mega Man is starting to sound nice.
:( Well, that's a shame, if you ever attempt Spyro 2 though, I'd be glad to assist you in whatever way - as long as I'm not completely bored of Spyro after completing my TAS :)

This looks like a good game to TAS, but I don't know whether it's just me, but it just doesn't looked optimised to me. However I've never played this game, and I'm not an experienced TASer, but sometimes you seem to jump higher than you need to (not sure if jumping is horizontally slower than walking), hitting the edges of platforms and travelling only vertically for a short while, and also taking damage seemingly unnecessarily in some places, as well as a long wait. Please feel free to correct me if I'm totally and utterly wrong, and please don't take offence if I was wrong please ;)

Looking forward to the encode (I really never expected myself to eventually say this when watching the first TAS). But really, I suspect it would probably need a sub 2-minute run to get sufficient Yes votes to be publish.
