I don't understand that table. What do "GV, MC, DP, CI, VL, etc..." mean?
GV = Ghost Valley MC = Mario Circuit DP = Donut Plains CI = Chocolate Island VL = Vanilla Lake KB = Koopa Beach BC = Bowser's Castle RR = Rainbow Road

EDIT: WARNING! IF YOU HAVE A SAVE IN SAVE SLOT A, THIS WILL DELETE IT TO PREVENT DESYNCS! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! After playing through this game, I decided to make a TA of this while waiting for the GBA port of MS1 and to take a break of finding everything in MS Advance. I am picking the Japanese version since you don't have to do as many levels but the problem is if you really need to kill all bosses or just get to the last level. The world map is quite non-linear if you ask me. Movementwise, flying is the fastest but it can be quite a hassle trying to actually fly the way you want as you'll ricochet if you hit something and that can be costly. Speaking of flying, theres a small debate on who to use. Twinbee, Winbee, or Gwinbee. Gwinbee charges up punches the fastest but the time it takes for him to fly and the weapon he gets (baby rattles) do pathetic damage. Winbee charges up flight speed the fastest but her punches take forever to charge and her whip doesn't do much damage (slightly more than Gwinbee) either. Most levels just aren't meant for flying either. Twinbee is balanced and his hammer does the same amount of damage as a charged punch, rendering it almost useless. His flight chargeup time between Gwin and Winbee's but you go through 4 frames of not flying. Theres also the option of using 2 players but 2 players is actually useless because A) Boss fights would be the same length (think of it like Rockman, gets hit and invulnerable for a few seconds). B) The only time 2 players actually becomes faster is towards the end and that only shaves off like 3 seconds C) It'll be too much of a hassle on me and chances are I'll end up cancelling the project. Another thing to worry about is that each level has a "record time". If you beat it then you get a celebration cutscene and if you beat the record by one second or so then its actually slower but I plan on getting it anyway since I'd rather bore you with "YOU PWN!" cutscenes rather than me dancing to save time. I did the first level with Twinbee just to give you guys an idea of what to expect, although not all of it is flying. First level

Reasons I choose to go slugless in so many levels Mission 2 I need to ditch the slug completely to get 2 cards and 2 hostages anyway. I could use the slug in Mission 3 but it would be faster to just walk (errr, jump). I plan to use the Dropshot and grenades against the boss anyway. Mission 4 you can't take the slug with you to the boss so why bother? Mission 5 is obvious Mission 1, I'll have enough shotgun ammo and I got to ditch the slug completely anyway As for the dungeon, if thats true then I'll just have to visit it every time I finish a level.

Just to give some people a small idea what to expect, this was how version 2 of the normal TA was coming along. http://home.ripway.com/2005-3/270828/MetalSlugAdvancedv2.zip Now picture me saving all the hostages, going on a mass killing spree, and shooting walls for cards.

Quick question, is this for (J) or (U) (PRG1)?

I consider the old topic to be just for a normal run. After a little hiatus, I have been inspired to try this again. However, I'm thinking of going for 100% since it might be more interesting than just a normal run. The only problem is that some missions requires more than 1 visit. There are 3 things I am concerned about though 1. A route 2. One of the cards requires you to beat the game in "Paper Thin" mode (1 hit death). I'm not sure if you only have to beat the final level with it. 3. One of the cards requires you to die without killing anything. I would like to go for No Damage but would dieing be considered taking damage? EDIT: Yikes, looks like I'm on my own

I didn't see the short LoZ run or the Out of this World run so I'm voting for Super Metroid. Edit: Nominate then

Yes with a star, Chemical Plant was just sick. I also found it funny that Tails couldn't even catch up on most of the levels.

The following awards wouldn't work -Best Hacked ROM Movie (Can just go under movies not published) -Longest Movie (Whichever RPG got recorded this year) -Shortest Movie (Movies that do only a single level = instant win, remember Excitebike?) -Best PAL Movie (can just go under best movie) -Most Posts (can just look it up and people would most likely make spam posts trying to get this) -Most Re-records used (can be faked) -Least Re-records used (can be faked) Other than that, good idea.

Oh my god FINALLY! Mission 2 pissed me off to no end but the first 2 missions are all I'm going to show before I make this, find the improvements, then make the real thing. I'm actually EXTREMLY pleased with how Mission 2 came out. I have decided to go for a no damage run as you can see in the video. So far here are the possible improvements I'm seeing: Mission 1
Menu selection can be faster, I was faster when going to Mission 2. Uphill = slow, we don't want that. Ersatz actually beat my time against Formor (first boss). While on the subject of the first boss, I'm pretty sure I missed one shot when he was moving back.
Mission 2
Might be able to navigate those cliffs you have to jump to climb faster. Bombs could be thrown faster at hanging submarine mini-boss I beat the 2nd boss (Emain Macha) TOO fast and get his card. Whoops ;)
EDIT: When there are too many sprites on the screen, it lags, lag = automatic desync and thus I needed to get a version with lag reduction. Since I couldn't get lag reduction to turn on, I've decided to just play through the game, find what I can, and make the real movie. Here is the how the movie came out for now. http://home.ripway.com/2005-3/270828/MetalSlugAdvanceWIPcancelledHyakutaro.zip This gets about 5/8ths of the Mission 3 done. I actually recorded a little bit further but I accidently erased it. Wish me luck on the real movie.
