http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=naVshTpD9l0 How can a game made in 2006 be so badly implemented? I mean, really. It's just horrible! Did the authors even play their own game? This is completely beyond comprehension.
My sister's been playing that POS recently, and she didn't have nearly as long load times. Our X360 is brand fucking new, however.

I rather liked the run. It was a bit long, but given the goal and the scroll screens, I can excuse that. I vote yes.

there's an encode. you might want to check it out. Edit: Question for those who have played the game. At times, the detail will randomly get worse on everything. Does this happen on the cart, or is it Yet Another Nintendo 64 Emulation Issue? Edit: The run seems well done, but the game gets boring after a while... Probably due to the massive amounts of skipping. Edit2: Because of how well down the run was, plus the first 10 minutes being fun to watch, I'm giving this a weak yes vote.

Nice run. To someone unfamiliar with the game, it looks highly polished. Very fun to watch. I vote yes.

Thanks for the link, Wockes, thanks for the encode Pu7o and nineko. Niiiice run. This is one hell of an entertaining video. I can't comment on the technical qualities of the run not being a speed runner or being familiar with the game, mind you... I vote yes. it's just damn fun to watch.

Now this is a move in a positive direction for the site. :D Will this run in the latest Gen RR, or do I need to dig up an old one?

Thanks for the encode, FractalFusion. I have to say, though, I didn't really find it all that interesting. It's a nice demonstration of just how far luck manipulation can take you, but there's not really any gameplay to speak of, and the music is horrendous (apparently because of an emulator bug?).
And sound effects. Many are missing or mangled. The sound emulation gets progressively worse as well... Starts out OK but inaccurate ala the FF3 video that's up here, and then just goes to hell. =\ Really disappointed me, as I both liked the game and the run. Still, a game with as many emulation problems as this should not be accepted.

I cannot vote yes on this. The sound emulation problems are far too severe. It point blank does not sound like the real game.

The emulator's timing is accurate by no means. It generates ridiculous amount of lags which don't exist on the real hardware at all.
In no$gba you get same lags, alltought, since its probly a bit better written 3D engine, if you got a fast computer, youll never notice it for real in no$gba Alltought i have a fast comp, i noticed under no$gba lags too, and they are exactly the same one here with desmume Main exemple are : the keep, save rooms, the shop, darts ect... ect...
I skipped over that by mistake... >.< I've got the latest version of no$GBA(Which has major speed ups over the latest free version) and what basically amounts to a Core 2 Duo overclocked to 3 GHZ, so that's why I never had any lag. Thanks for the answer, arukAdo and klmz.

Question about the final boss lag. does that happen on the cart? It didn't happen when I played through the game via no$GBA, but that emulator is a little buggy when it comes to PoR anyway...

Thank you, atma! I do have a dual-core CPU, as it turns out, and an older version of snes9x 1.43 RR.

janus, what version of snes9x are you using? I tried to play your latest WIP, and it froze on the 1.43 version I had, and just plain doesn't work on the latest 1.51 version.

Fuck off, IST. Also, I think adelikat is currently working on an improvement. Best of both worlds etc. Also someone publish the goddamn Chrono Trigger submission.
If I'm proven wrong, I'll publicly apologize. I want to be wrong, in fact! Edit: Fixed bbcode tag.

Hence what I said about bias against certain games/types of games. It'd be nice if the changes to the site would fix that. But they won't.

I don't quite understand why this type of examples are brought up. Some borderline submissions get accepted and some get rejected. There is nothing strange in that. Borderline TAS causes neither big joy nor big harm, so the big fuss is pointless.
How is 83% borderline? How? I agree with tossing the voting system, simply because the workbench forum itself is a better substitute. The discussion going on the threads is almost always more than enough info to decide if the run should be rejected or not.

I will go ahead and say that when I read Mr. Delikat's statement I had the completely opposite reaction. Hurrah for being more open to entertaining content!
The various rejections of entertaining games in the past have mostly been due to bias against the game/genre. I don't think that will change. =/ It'd be nice, but...

Jesus. Arguing with Warp and IST is as bad as trying to argue with PETA. Everyone, give it the fuck up. 9 pages is more than enough.
I thought I'd made it obvious with my last post, but as I mentioned earlier, I am brain fried. I have withdrawn from the debate. Any more at this point would be useless and cause needless drama, IMO. It's one thing if the drama could be productive in the end. It's another if it'd just lead to flame wars and nothing else.

The only thing I'm hoping for is a less elitist attitude from the judges/admins, which is fairer towards "regular" people who contribute and who have no special privileges.
I don't really see this problem, I'm sure adelikat would have published this even if it hadn't been his own movie.
Would have published a sub-par run with known flaws and sloppy play (which have been pointed out well before the publication) for the sole reason that this is the first DS TAS, before the voting and the discussion reaches a consensus and completely disregarding public opinion? That actually doesn't make it much better. The questions I have asked many times are still unanswered: Why was it imperative for this to be rushed into publication? Why couldn't it have been remade with the flaws fixed? Is that so hard to answer?
I don't think that question will be answered. Better to ignore it than try to work your way around it. As for my earlier statement, i've rethought it a bit, make it a temporary suspension of his powers. Still, given his increased involvement with the site itself, how can you say this is kosher, mmbossman? This was clearly posted only because adelikat felt like his run should be posted. He's going to be assuming more and more power over in the near future. The fact that he's more than willing to publish a sub-optimal run because it's his shows that his judgment is at best highly flawed.

Normally, I would agree. However, this has happened in the past. There is a precedent. Still, if it bugs people that much, I guess a temp demotion would be enough.

If you don't nip this kind of problem in the bud, it begins to get worse. Then, you've bought yourself a one way ticket to the site's slow death. Things have been going in a bad direction for a while now, and this nonsense makes it actually possible for the site to go down the shitter permanently. Better to deal with the problem now and make an example out of the person who caused it then wait until later when it's too late. It'll cause hell, but in the end the site will be better for it.

D. Few people give the excuse "Well, it's the first run of the system, therefore it should be accepted." As noted earlier, this goes against http://tasvideos.org/Moozooh/MostPopularExcuses.html, specifically 1a.
This would have been a more fitting example of that argument.
I had forgotten about that one. >.> I also wanted to call attention to the link, as it contains other arguments against this run's publication.
