Jewel Master completed as fast as possible. This game works on a ring system. You can combine rings, having two for each hand, to make different spells. One of the rings is a speed ring, so I try to wear that as often as possible.
If you're wondering how this run was completed so fast, I started it before I started my Gunstar Heroes run.

NesVideoAgent: Hi! I am a robot. I took a few screenshots of this movie and placed them here. I'm not sure I got the right ROM though. (I tried Jewel Master (J) [c][!].gen, which was the closest match to what you wrote.). Well, here goes! Feel free to clean up the list.

adelikat: A borderline movie that didn't quite impress the audience enough. Better luck next time.

mmbossman: This submission has been given another chance at publication. If you feel it should be published, instead of returning to the grue, please post WHY in the thread. Similarly, if you do NOT think this movie should be published, post WHY.

mmbossman: After watching this again, I'm somewhat surprised at the slightly lackluster reception it got, I found it to be better than I remember. Accepting for publication.

Nice run. To someone unfamiliar with the game, it looks highly polished. Very fun to watch. I vote yes.

There was a time when that sentence would have contradicted itself. I prefer the standards that require a movie to be spectacular in order to be published, than the ones that require a movie to be horrible in order to be rejected, and therefore vote against this submission... again. Not because it is sloppy or unoptimized, but because the game is simply boring to watch.

I enjoyed this run. but I don't know if no-damage-run would have been more entertaining. Still it was (well) enough enertaining to have my "yes". Upthorn, in particular, what scene wasn't entertainig?

Well, let's go unpublish half the site then. I think the rubric should be "entertaining", not "spectacularly entertaining".

That's such a well put, eloquent, articulated point. I love it. And yeah, I always preferred TASvideos to have a "best of the best" image rather than just a place that houses all the TASes. However, I feel like that opinion is in the minority now.

Does it go the way that those "spectacularly entertaining" videos get "special star" and just "spectacular" videos just get published?

I really felt like this game was underwhelming the whole way through. It seemed played well enough, but the game looks pretty awkward. When it got to the final boss halls, which usually is a time for TASes to shine by dominating the bosses, the fights didn't really look all that entertaining. Each statue goes with a few simple whacks of the sword. And having to switch away from the sword during the last fight, so that the character could jump over the boss's attack, really was a distraction.
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. Sorry to reply so late to this but... I do see the merit in maintaining a collection of truly mind-blowing movies. I don't, however, think this should be to the exclusion of some of the other entertaining movies that get submitted here. I think a sort of 'split' might be beneficial: a section of the best movies (an expansion of the 'special star' list, really) and a section for the competent, entertaining-to-some movies. I realize that this is not trivial, but would be good because it would: give more structure to the site; reward very good movies with more exposure; reward more authors of marginal movies, which would in turn increase their desire to make more and hopefully better movies; increase the amount of content on the site and therefore increase the number of interesting movies to each person (though probably lowering the percentage of entertaining movies), while at the same time not diluting the pool of "spectacular" movies (in fact it would actually serve to condense really good movies together). Sorry for the off topic; this is perhaps not the best place to write it. On topic, I feel that this movie is in the latter group. Competently played, enjoyable especially to those familiar with the game, interesting enough to be enjoyable to some who haven't (myself included), but nothing that's terribly earth-shattering. To be fair, I would say again that at least 50% of the currently published movies also fall clearly into this category.
