http://www.romhacking.net/forum/index.php/topic,19442.0.html Now that is a unique rom hack of final fantasy 1 nes. Unlike other romhacks, this one changes the battle system too! In the original FF 1 battle system, you had to select all the party commands and then have some "round" to see if you got lucky. This made it very difficult to tas. In the new battle system, it works more like final fantasy tactics CT battle system. Where it is not round based. With this, you can easily make all party members get critical hits, no need to have one character to "manipulate luck easier" and can make more interesting strategies! I think the the beta2 version is out for download somewhere.. I'll do a TAS testrun to see what I can do when that ever happens.

I'm still having trouble with building the repo.. It keeps on telling me under solution explorer "failed to load" under components. I tried getting directx 2010 as stated by the readme and doesn't seem to make any difference.. I am using windows 10, and pcsx2 1.40 is already installed, but thats the one without tas features. My computer can handle ps2 games, and I have tested ps2 games with the rerecording emulator that is unstable and had no problem with running games.

Interesting! Anyhow, I'm having trouble with compiling that.. I've installed vs2015 with its updates, and ran mscompile, chose 2015, then devel build, and it seemed to have worked its way to the bottom, with a bunch of errors stating missing librarys. Like windows.h ..

Sorry about the double post I found the address: 0x0B2 2 bytes siged And made a lua script to brute force:
local HPAddr=0x0B2
local HP
local num=true
save1 = savestate.create()
savestate.save(save1)
while num do
 HP=memory.readword(HPAddr)
 if HP == 100 then
   savestate.load(save1)
   emu.frameadvance()
   savestate.save(save1)
 end
 print(HP)
 joypad.set(1,{A=true})
 emu.frameadvance()
 emu.frameadvance()
end
You might want to do it after seeing gil count. Just hold frame advance until it finds an item. For some reason, some items have the same value.. like sometimes.. So I can't make some reference table..

A TAS of this game would be interesting. I have a testrun up to Aeris house in 31 minutes. I'm sure it can be improved, but its really hard to say.. Routing this game is like routing ffxiii.. The battles take longer to beat than boss battles do.. Maybe beating just the bosses and hoping they drop good equipment throughout could be beneficial? I remember in my first attempt, I didn't level up even after the 8th mandatory battle.. And those battles too forever.. Go figure.. Maybe eventually I'll get a level up after every battle.. The idea is to lower rounds. Adding up all the rounds total would be a real big number.. I do know you could manipulate random battles to be one enemy, then try to get equipment afterwords, so that could be optimal.. Again, hard to say..

Sometimes the game will freeze if the wrong disc is inserted at certain cutscenes, and you can still find a way around it. The first time I have encountered this issue, I did a hard reset and changed back to proper disc. In the video above, he does have a list of times where he changed the disc. But that doesn't apply to everything because he skipped like half the game. So it should be possible to get through without hard resets while using cutscene glitch.

I wouldn't say I'm "depressed" with my difficult situation, but I'm going through some difficult times too.. I have a trainer at my job to help me succeed and I find her very attractive and kind. I'm not allowed to spend time with her outside of work(unless I manage to convince her I don't need her "help" anymore with my job) in which I can do once it ever happens. Shes still not convinced, but I don't mind as I love spending the extra time as there's no other way of circumventing the "no outside contact with trainers" rule. I'm not the only one who works with her under training grounds, so its not like its "all about me" and I have to be respectful with not interrupting, making it limited on "interacting with her". I know people need to separate so they don't "get sick of each other" and its really not like I have to. I have found another way to circumvent the "no outside contact rule" by offering her another job where she can help me with my life at home. In which I feel would be more enjoyable and not feel so isolated as it would be me and her only. I have asked her about it in the morning and she said "sounds like a lot of fun while nodding her marking more agreement" and I lid up after hearing that. Later down the road she said she can't do it because of college. So I said we can just do it next year. But there's a problem with doing that.. If I don't find anyone interested in helping me at home through the same service that the desired trainer would have, I run the risk of losing it all together. So I had to find someone to "fill the void until shes done". Once that happens, replace the "fake worker" with the desired one. It may have an emotional effect on him as I'm basically saying "I'm gonna replace someone better than you". ..But is that really gonna happen? I asked her about doing it next year instead of assuming that she would. And she asked me if that "fake worker(not what she said, just being anonymous here) had started yet. And I said the hiring process seems to take longer than usual. Christmas break was around the corner so I thought it would be a good idea for her to "begin work slowly up until shes done with college" and she said she would ask the "fake worker" about it. But I have heard nothing yet of that.. So then, about 3 days ago as of writing this, her supervisor found out how excited I was about having the desired trainer to work with me with helping me around my house as no other way was found as I've been stuck with training grounds as she never criticizes me for what I do "wrong" giving me the distinct feeling that I don't need her supervision anymore. Her supervisor is the main person to make the decision on whether or not I need the service or not. I still don't understand why they're not convinced yet, but off that conversation. Just making it clear on why I'm still under training ground. Dunno. Anyways, her supervisor had feared that the desired trainer would "never" do it as shes "going through a lot". Full time job and full time college. I get that.. So then her supervisor asked her if she was going to do it. And she said "I don't think I am". And I just thought she was having a bad day which it seemed like she was. Like that for 2 days. The second day we talked about it at the end of the day with her supervisor and the desired staff admits she said she was interested in a guilty tone of voice as if it was wrong. All of the sudden, she then tells me right my face that she never said she was interested and will never do it with me ever. Never is a big word so there's still hope. She then claimed to have said "I might be able to do that" which is a lie and I didn't want to sit there and be like "yeah you did, no I didn't, yeah you did, no I didn't" no.. that will get me nowhere. Then her supervisor made the final statement with "I will never spend time with her outside of the workplace and only allowed to interact with her in the workplace" putting much emphasis on the word never. The next day, I was convinced she would skip a day just to avoid me. The last 2 days she avoided making contact with me and clearly didn't want to talk with me because she was having a bad day and didn't want to hear about future plans with all the "stress" she was dealing with. But this next day she paid a lot of attention towards me and seemed in a much better mood and made much more eye contact with me. I don't know if that's because she thinks I "got over it" that quickly or was trying to show me that she's not against me and is guilty about the day before. The next 3 days just got better and better.. no mention of the job offer though.. I don't know if should just "put up with the fake worker" and wait until the desired one comes and risk asking the aforementioned question, as the "fake worker" has more experience than the desired one who has no experience.. But may still be interested. Maybe they might be convinced I don't need their help before the end of the year..

A shocker clip? Like skipping shocker? If its taking forever, you may just want to skip the clip if that makes sense. Are you having any desync problems so far? It certainly won't be good to put some much work into something just to find out it doesn't even sync..

Changing ram addresses using scripts can also make games longer and complex that wouldn't be possible with the hardware limitations. For instance, Indiana Jones and raiders of the lost ark for the 2600 can be expanded to show more of the movie rather than some stripped down version by changing values through a script. Thus giving the illusion that major rom expansion was done when really we just had a script changing ram throughout.

Playing a different game inside a game, cool idea! Now where does this idea have anything with TASing though?
Its sorta like ACE playarounds, but that's not possible with all games, and changing the rules of games may provide entertainment for some. Like imagining what soccer in zelda would be like. Its really just for playarounds. I guess we can say "lua" playarounds and not ACE playarounds if that makes sense.

It should be very possible to change the rules in a game using lua and its memory manipulation. For instance, say if we wanted to make zelda NES into a soccer game and not action adventure: Memory addresses needed: Zeldas X/Y Knights X/Y [some other enemy] X/Y Coins X/Y Water X/Y As well as all their HPs Zelda would be a player on the field. Knights would be the opposing team [some other enemy] would be on zelda's team. The coin would be used as a soccer ball and water would be the goal on left and right. Now in the lua script, for moving the ball(coin), we would do something like: If zeldaX+2 == ballx then ball += 2 end if That would prevent zelda from the getting the coin. That goes for everyone else. For the goal, we would have something like: if ballx > water then team1+=1 end if if ballx < water then team2+=1 end if So yeah, it should be possible to change rules this way. You could also have more variables, but they wont be visible on the NES screen just the console. Or you could use grass addresses to write msgs.

One last thing that can be done: 100% run After sora and riku, if you play sora again, you can get the ansem card. This would obviously make a huge difference. Seeing how getting all enemy cards would mean fighting all the enemies for the cards. Card routing would also be very different. As you would have to fight just about every monster in the game, imagine how interesting this would get. There is an enemy card in Atlantica where you could randomize your deck numbers and in a tas, you could manipulate any sleight you want. CP would also be more useful later in the game as stronger attack will take a lot of space. NOTE: This doesn't mean you have to beat sora, riku, and sora again, that would be a mess. Just straight after riku.

Here is an outdated(or glitchless for that matter) run https://www.twitch.tv/pwulla/v/46392752 he just wasn't aware of "glitches" in the game back then thats all. Which I personally don't like.

Well, the testrun is complete and on youtube and even suggested that it be submitted, but I'd figure it'd be rejected. Now I'm working on the optimized product, but I'm having trouble syncing the bk2 file.. My computer had no problem with syncing a 2 and half hour movie of the same game, but now its giving me trouble. Here is the file: http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/34837704724301238 I have heard that driver 2 has some framerate problems, and in my testrun, I go through the menus a bit slow, while the optimized product I press DOWN earliest frame possible, so I guess it doesn't like that.. idk. Sometimes slowing the game down can help. Not to mention the continue button is delayed.. So you can't just breeze through that menu..

*NECROBUMP* Does anyone know the ram address for Marluxia in traverse town for the tutorial? And Leon? Just curios to know what would happen if you actually killed them through hacking their HP down.

This is a very hard game to optimize but fun at the same time in a way. Speedrun notes: * Its faster to shoot crates than to use wrench as you can shoot "on the run" * Enemies are to be shot earliest frame possible to get rid of them faster. * Avoid using the helipak unless you have to. Its faster to just jump. Careful on pressing the jump button. *Similar to that vain ^ careful on walljumps as well. I have stages 1-7 done using ppsspp pspkvm to tas it. No sound because I'm still having trouble with that emulator.. As of writing this, the video is processing: Link to video

I actually figured out the real issue. What I did was stop the movie recording and not pressing frame advance to "apply" it. Stupid me.. I'm running pspkvm to run ratchet and clank going mobile. going well..

I don't know if this should be in other games or this forum as its a j2me emulator for the ds with the intention of running j2me games on. http://mujweb.cz/molej/pstrosnds/ I guess that removes the need to add "rerecording" features to a j2me emulator for a pc as we can use a ds as a replacement if you know what I mean. Just posting this if anyone wasn't aware of it.

It's worth the wait! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v5FHTiEknn4 At around 3 minutes, he talks about his desire to see a tas of the green goblin category. Look at how sloppy his run looks.. Sub 30 is very possible.

Well, couldn't you just luck manipulate Warp/Toad so you can OHKO enemies? Why are you doing the tile minigame exactly?
I'm doing the tile mini game for the elixirs and cottages. Since this won't be serious, I may ban OHKO spells which will make those elixirs useful. By the end of the game, the spells will be dealing close to max damage as I'd be "practicing" them in every battle. Just more entertaining than seeing bosses "vanish" as well as the mystery if this would beat the RTA record as they use teleport to OHKO most bosses.

*Bump* I have begun work on the FFII game instead. After "following" the rta route, I finally noticed this could get very risky if I used a different route. Instead of grinding shield levels in every battle, we grind offense instead. Treasure chest that contain money are to be skipped. As well as other defensive means. The RTA runner picks up all of these chest to be "safe". Stumbles on the matching game wishing he could do this consistently. I have a bk2 file up to 4 matching games completed: http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/34323276308203131 How many should I get?

The world record holder for this game claims that you can only save 2 minutes from a tas which was said during his "goblin" run. And said green goblin mode would stand out from nonassisted play better and believes it has some tas-only clips involved.

I would like to see a run of this. Its not really repetitive with its host of mini games, so a 100% run would be interesting. But an any% testrun would be nice. Nobody runs this game as far as I've seen so a tas would be interesting even when not publication quality are not met.
