Does it still freeze if you use the mGBA core instead? You can activate it by checking the box at Config > Cores > GBA with mGBA. Note that your movie file might not update to the new core, and you might have to start a new recording.
I've tried that with Bizhawk 1.1.7 and it does check, but when I load the movie file(which was made in 1.1.5) it unchecks the gba core and still freezes on me. Exact things I've done: Load rom, load movie, change gba core, reboot core, then playback, and it unchecks everything.

All that needs to work are save states and frame advance. A lot of driving games on the ps2 have an option to "replay" a race or a mission. Games where this works: Midnight club series, Driv3r and stuntman and possibly others. Tasing midnight club 2 has been in my mind for a while as well as driv3r. With risky nitro boosting, you can only imagine how crazy this can get. In single segment runs they play it "safe" by avoiding that. With driv3r, you can kill gator before he reaches his yaht. That is very hard to do with single segment runs or even segmented runs.

Sorry about the double post, but there's a glitchless rta run on nicovideo and I'm planning on doing a tas carbon copy of it. Just don't understand why he left the 3rd character dead.. I'm uploading the rta to youtube right now.

I'm having some troubles here with recording.. Whenever I record with "Record display" and "Record Audio" checked, it goes into a VIDEO folder on memstick(which I had to create on my own) saying framedump0 and framedump1 which are corrupted files. Nothing in the AUDIO folder either.. I put them in caps. Computer specs:

I don't think the game would make any difference, but if needed I can say what game I was running. I also ran the 64 version of ppsspp. Do I just have to check everything under record?

Very nice! Within 24 days we already got a lot done! Well, I didn't really contribute to anything besides bringing it up. Anyways, so when recording, will save states and frame advance apply to the encode? Just no "movie file" for verication? I can do some test.

This game has some tas potential in it. Like punching every boss is hard to do as you need very clever timing. I made a full game testrun of it recently in 18 minutes. Being uploaded to youtube now. Fastrun14

This game is said to be bad because of its nondescript gameplay and "luck based" battles. The battles in this game aren't really skill based at all. You just mash the attack button and hope for the best. However, while this game is a bit nondescript, it does stand out from non assisted play. An rta run would likely contain a lot of death(from bad luck) making the viewer go like "I feel like watching something else". Now I have recorded the hardest battle in the game with the fastest strategy I can think of. http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/33660571549259417 Will upload to youtube shortly. Fastrun14

Looks like someone already made a tas of ace combat: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zwaj8OFidvc 6 months ago. Using ppsspp. Just posting it here as I don't think anyone was aware.

Nice! The RTA record is 29:34 and since it was done by a human, it has many mistakes in it! He beat lizard man 21 minutes into the run! So arandomgametaser is pretty close to done with this! What is more, this version has a lot more action involved than its predecessor did! Btw, is this easy mode? Another one of those games where easy and hard just change HP values to higher and lower?

There is an attempt to integrate PPSSPP in Bizhawk made by natt, but I dont know at all if the tests are successful or not. http://tasvideos.org/Bizhawk/PSP.html
I don't see any tests on that page.. Not only that, but that page hasn't been edited in 3 years. A lot has changed in 3 years for this project. It might just be approved for tasvideos at this point.

So after looking at the build log, could this now be implemented to bizhawk? Another question, how are emulators implemented into bizhawk anyway? Is it a lot of work?

Um, I'm thinking about finishing this up, without worrying about getting teleport items, and just avoiding random battles. As well as doing some grinding with the Eye. Should beat the RTA record for sure.

I'm surprised there were no topics for this game. Sorry for jumping around these topics so much. Driver 2 advance just freezes on me at some point for whatever reason. Driv3r gba is just junk. And this version is real good. A couple of funny facts about this game in terms of "competition". First of all, there's a Russian "speedrun" of this game on youtube, and its 1 hour slower than the "longplay" on cubex55. How crazy is that? I feel like that longplay on cubex55 is tool assisted to avoid death. I think the world record is 2:35 or something using the psn version of the game. Idk. But still, that run is full of mistakes, and contains some deaths. And its on twitch.. I actually made a "no damage" attempt on my youtube account. Its a failed attempt, using psxjin. Which has faster loading times. So now we have bizhawk, which does have slower loading times(but its legit), and I've managed to beat that time by ~40 seconds at the end of Chicago. Here is video evidence: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CP2YzoNlyqY Next I will upload the rest of the game. I'm guessing it should be done in less than 2 hours. Time will show.

How about this:focus on improving your own TASing skills, the game you choose will bend itself as you get better, practice doing some optimized movement on driv3r instead of restarting from zero in another game. You'll thank yourself for following through with a choice.
What does that have to do with the freeze issue? Driver 2 advance is a lot more simplistic and short than driv3r was. I just want to get around that freeze. This game looks like a better start for tasing. The luck manipulation in this game is pretty easy.

Can't he be run over by a car? Or are there better weapons like a grenade or something? The way he zig-zags there is no way a human player is meant to hit him 100 (or even 20) times.
You can't run him over. The game has a "security" mechanism where cars can't enter those shooting sections. There are other weapons in the game by doing side quest. Finding all bags in Miami gives you some ammo. Not sure how much though. There are no grenades in this game either. It's like this game is "meant" to be tased. This game is that hard..

This game is better than Driv3r gba in my opinion. The music is better, the cutscenes are easier to get through. You just hold down the A button. No need to mash. Holding turbo doesn't work with skipping text in driv3r, but here you just simply hold the A button. Collisions are more realistic than driv3r gba. Just the visual appeal looks worse, but I don't care. As far as speedrun value, this game doesn't have many options. It does have a lot of luck manipulation involved on the other hand. Such as avoiding the police by manipulating traffic. During the "chase" missions or sneak missions, the target car will slow down if traffic is in his/her way. So in a tas, we can manipulate those cars out of his/her way for them to proceed faster. Obviously pulling the map up takes time, but again, in a tas, that's very easy to get around. You can look at the map to find the "optimal" route, so that' another speedrun value. There are also ramming missions in the game, where you just run into the opponent draining his health bar down. Hitting him/her every frame shouldn't be too hard. I think if they crash into things they also take damage, dunno. A WIP has been uploaded to my userfiles.. The game freezes on me at the hotel.. Any ideas?

About that mistake at the very beginning, while it does mean it's suboptimal, look at final fantasy v tas(not the recent one). He says sorry I didn't know much about luck manipulation. Despite early mistake, it was still accepted. Tasvideos does not have a mandate for frame perfect submissions. Not everyone has all the time in the world. And would greatly slow down production if anything.

*Bump* Game is "just about complete". I ran out of ammo on the finale objective... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5o2jK3D60OE Apparently I need to get more double kills(or better yet triple) to save more ammo for the finale. The game wants you to save as much ammo as possible from beginning to end. That final boss has waaay too many hit points. I hit him like 25+ times and nothing.. Maybe he has 30 HP? Does that sound fair? I think there were like 2 missed shots, but I don't know for sure.
Have you tried RAM Search to find out?
I tried tonight.. but couldn't find it.. I'm not very good with ram search. I'll give you my movie file for bizhawk 1.1.5 http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/32530568575563825 Just fast forward to 1 minute by the end.. Very much appreciated. I was told to do some side quest, but I'm sure its theoretically possible to do without doing sidequest for ammo. Just get double/triple kills. Unless the final boss has an insane amount of HP. In that case, they're not sidequest anymore.

After watching the movie(and I'm encoding it now with free video joiner), I can see where the garbage rng you're talking about. RNG manipulation is done outside of battle, making it feel like some segmented run. Literally. For a taser, that RNG is not fun.. On the other hand, it doesn't have any delays in the battle. So that's nice. But this also explains why nobody wants to manipulate misses in battle. Or critical hits for that matter. A miss from your allies would be unacceptable in my opinion, so to come up with "acceptable" outcomes would be ideal for a tas. I will upload the encode tomorrow. My youtube channel is fastrun14. And I will say its by arandomgametaser as its his work after all.

Old thread, I know, but has anyone thought of tasing this game? There's a run on sda, but is very suboptimal and contains a lot of deaths. Not sure if those are intentional though, gotta read the authors comments. This game has great potietial for a tas. Just seeing a no missed shots deathless run would interest me. I have never tases games like this before, but I might try.

After reading minimum requirements, ff7 doesn't go that low. It can run on windows xp, and doesn't require a mouse, so hourglass should work.
