During my latest testrun, I accidentally changed disc too early, and some FMVs were skipped. However, eventually the game froze, so I had to make a save file and reboot. Going back to normal FMVs on disc 2.

Do you have the video dumped anywhere? As for answers to those problems, the elevator outcomes are manipulated by changing frames. You have to get certain numbers. Can't remember what they were.. I have also had difficulties with the marching % numbers. I tried waiting frames, but that did nothing.. You can also try walking around.

There's only 1 run through of this game on youtube, but it was severely unoptimal and not fast at all. I beat his run by 30 minutes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=817PMQz60EQ&feature=youtu.be Yep, that fast. Its possible to beat sebuba as early as that. Once that's complete, the game is complete. On the other hand, I will finish the rest of the game in a "post game content" video. While I do have the fastest pod racer now, it is still not a cake walk. With going for fastest time. So far the post game completion is looking good. 16 minutes of post game so far. I will just wait until its all complete, then I will upload that next. Done with the rest of the game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hi1ITsEt_wk You may think that was all rushed and suboptimal, but seriously, there's really not much to do this game. I did my best to make things look smooth, not crash into anything unless it was inevitable, but my routes were certainly suboptimal. But I still defeated the opponent whom took the optimal route. This game is good for a tas in my opinion.

Alright. Well, I guess I'd say this game is complete. There is ONE more race left. The world champion race. But why would I do that when its just going to be another "manipulate cars to slow down your opponent to get through this"? Link to video Oddly enough, the New York champion race was MUCH harder than the London champion race. There was no traffic to "help me get through this mayhem" so I had to just crash into him myself. Maybe there's an actually route you need to take to win without luck? I actually had to figure out a new route in one of the races. Upon finding the new route, I still had to manipulate cars to help me get through. Seeing a "Frame perfect" run of this game wouldn't even be that different than mine. It would be faster, but the differences would be unnoticeable.

Alright. Right before getting PHS is on my userfiles. Why do you want to know about obtaining PHS? Is there some ram in there that looks useful?

Well, I have the memory addresses in a wch file: https://www.dropbox.com/s/gg3ketpsoxnt0kk/atb.wch?dl=0 For PHS, do you just want a movie that plays through the kalm flashback up to PHS? Like it stops right before you get PHS?

"The slumdrunk" lol, did you get that from my test speedrun(any%) or xerokynos hardmod speedrun joke thing? Anyways, people have already found the memory addresses for ATB for ally and enemies. I haven't done programming in a while, so I might not be very helpful with this. I think its safe to say luck manipulation sucks. My biggest aggravation is bad RNG. I mean, you could just make a savestate, keep on retrying until you lose your patience. Go up to the last frame, savestate again, try again later. Until you get it. Not to mention sometimes luck manipulation looks ugly.

Heh, I'm interesting in knowing that too. Its hard to say. Looking forward to this becoming a "matter of execution" where we don't need patience to manipulate luck. Draqon quest 4 is being reworked on because of all the luck manipulation tools. What I would like: critical hit script, steal script, first turn script(I can probably make this), elevator battle script if you want. For all that to work with bizhawk.

Sorry about the double post: But the first 3 levels are finished: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QhIdISkLiyU&feature=youtu.be Since I have never played the game in a very long time, this is just a testrun. Level 2 and 3 are the most optimized. Level 3 could be further optimized, if I had taken the fastest route each time. I do take the fastest route in the 2nd and 3rd lap at least. Little hard to optimize to make it go real fast. Little hard to even get through.

The idea of this speedrun is to compete with the "longplay" on cubex55 by RickyC. Despite being intentionally slow, he still beat the game in less than 20 hours. Same thing happened in my 2nd playthrough of this game. I had no idea what I doing during this playthrough. The only thing I knew was "where to go" and didn't know how the bosses fight. I've had trouble with Jenova Birth, Dyne, Gi nattack, materia keeper, Demons gate(this fight is hell if you don't know how he fights), Schizo, and then it was a breeze. So I'm just curios about the time at the end with "knowing exactly what you're doing and TAS precision". There are still some mistakes and obvious improvement but this is nothing serious.

About optimization, would it be okay if I used an RTA route with "bad luck" removed and just had tas precision? Like first turns in every battle, random battles escaped immediately, avoiding world map encounters, getting hit on the first turn(to lower HP(for the powersoul)) or (get hit on the first turn(slots))? Or limit break before guard scorpion's tail. Things disregarded: critical hits, stealing, and item drops. That was kinda garlands idea in the first place. Production will be a lot faster, as getting crits in this game is a pain. I just hate Bad RNG. Gecko sent me a lua script on getting criticals, I haven't used it though in this run. I may restart this run using it.

Its also rather suboptimal. Guard scorpion could be done better. Critical hits unless bad RNG occurs. About the goal choice, wouldn't "no slots" be a bit arbitrary too? According to the rules, a goal choice that avoids a weapon or something the game has to offer is not allowed. No slots is just as arbitrary as no escape. I've uploaded my WIP1 file to movie storage.

????????????
If you're confused about the world map encounter thing, lemme explain: Field maps are different from world map encounters. You actually have to encounter field map encounters. Whereas world map encounters can simply be "removed" by turning directions and camera angle. So world map encouinters are not inevitable like field map encounters. I think it would be cumbersome to disregard world map encounters. Am I understood?

Got a new computer with 2TB and have started a new run. I have added ONE restriction to this run: No escape. You're not allowed to escape any random battles. You can avoid world map encounters, but not run from them if you encounter any. With this category, it has much more action involved. Routing will be more interesting as well. You can also work on building limit breaks too. So it would be ideal to get cait siths slots limit break for Lucky girl. Should have it before schizo. Materia keeper will have an "entertaining" strategy. Work on getting cover up to 100% or close to. By all means get the force stealer. Poison materia keeper, MK cast trine, High potion on cloud, cross slash, cross slash, high potionm, repeat. And seeing how tas could get first turns in every battle, this should be fun. In RTA, this would be a huge luck fest and probably not worth doing. Link to video

This game is very hard to tas. Let alone to get through it. I really doubt anyone will do an RTA of this game. Which is why I think it will make a good tas. To "speedrun" this game, you must obey the following rules: No head on collision. Try to keep your speed at max at all times(really hard to do IMO) Do not lose your opponent you are about to race(it starts out red, then yellow, then green where he/she proceeds) do not allow it to go back to red. Similar to that vain ^ you also need to manipulate your opponent to not crash into anything unless you have to. Like if that car is too fast. I have made a test run of new york and one opponent in london. Link to video Major mistakes in that run: Let the yellow light turn red because I was a n00b :P no longer happened starting at the 3rd opponent. Didn't change to the Jones when that was faster. Made that chase pretty long.. Afterwords I've fixed that. Maybe I should have gotten more cars? Probably for a 100% run, but this is any%. So yes, this game is a pretty hard racing game. Cops chase you while you are racing.

Could someone make an encode for me: https://www.dropbox.com/s/njx6oefr598krcw/FF7TAS.pxm?dl=0 And this one: https://www.dropbox.com/s/os7yzxxjb3t08h8/FF7TASDiscTWO.pxm?dl=0 To sync the second one, you will have to create a save file. Just go through the movie until the end, note the frame in which I press O to confirm the save file. I don't have a lot of space on my computer.. The 3 encodes on my youtube account have very bad quality. Just enough to just read what's going on. Thank you.

What about encode requests? I have some encodes I want made but I don't want to submit them. I also don't like going into popular topics just for an encode. So does an encode request area sound nice?

There's a "new" final fantasy VI run on there from 2014. I didn't notice it until this morning. The thing that's strange is that the run is 2 minutes behind the "old" run back from 2007. It uses the same category and says "best time" still. So SDA doesn't reject slower runs of the same category?

I'm interesting in tasing this game. I'll do a testrun today with the first chapter. Because this game doesn't much "routing" involved, it will be an individual level run. But still, watching a flawless playthrough(with speed) would still be interesting.

Fighter run? https://archive.org/details/CastlevaniaCotM_Fighter_3114 Yeah, been there done that long time ago. Well, I didn't make it, but yeah. That's made by the founder of SDA(iirc). Its still a segmented speedrun.

Is ps2 tasing at a stable state? I mean, there's an entire kingdom hearts run. It certainly looks like it was tased. I really doubt he edited that movie. It also appears frame advance is in use. There was also a phantom brave tas out there. Looks legit. Unless he's just a skilled scam artist.

There actually is a completed tas on youtube here: http://youtu.be/tHpPi-yFWaI Sorry about the weird URL. I'm using mobile. That tas only uses save states. So its severely unoptimised. On the other hand, it did show some luck manipulation at least. He thinks a minute or so could be shaved. I'm convinced it could get below 1 hour.

Hey all; Sorry about the double post, but I got a speedrun category idea. No random battles whatsoever. You would have to use the no random battle cheat for this, but it's still gonna make things difficult. With this restriction, you can't get the slots limit break. You can't get death sentence for the powersoul until after life stream event. You can't get magic hammer either. Unless world map encounters should be enabled. But that defeats the purpose. Schizo would be a pretty hard boss. You can use garlands strat in the 1.0 guide though. With the exception of the sense materia. You don't need to keep track of hp with tas. This also means no magic breath. The train battles might be a little hard. It would be recommended to pick up w-item(unless you go for the powersoul strats starting at carry armor). What I love about that cheat is that we don't have I worry about random encounters anymore! Really speeds up the production.

You only gain 4% extra speed, and you pausing twice counters that with a lot more extra time. I will say though the wiimote aiming is OP. Being able to instantly shoot anything on screen will be entertaining to see. Rather odd though that syncing depends on the SD card and playing the movie twice.
I created the .dtm when a GC controller was plugged in. If you play my .dtm, a Fatal Desync massage appears. You have to ignore this massage and play input recording again. I think SD card is necessary for verification movie.
Do you mean "message"? Massage is totally different.

I'm currently at mission 10 There are times where you don't have to kill anyone. I found lots of ammo in this one area. Mission 9 was a nightmare! None of us have played this game I'm seeing. I'll upload Miami completed once that happens. About mission 9, the hard part was the ending. You have to kill gator in a car with unlimited ammo. You shoot from the car. You can't let gator get too far away. Otherwise you lost. You also lose if gator reaches his destination. So you can't just take your time on this one. Sounds easy? Well, from tas perspective, it wasn't.. I couldn't press the fire button(L) along with all other buttons. So I had to stop and fire and then move. Tag that with avoiding car damage, and you got yourself a challenge there. If I can figure out how to make auto fire on the L button, this would have been MUCH easier. I've already tried that, but somehow something went wrong. I'll have to investigate this issue.
