As for slots, I learned that when you fail game over(or just do something else before game over), the timing is the same for the rest. Like after the first one, the timing is the same as you got for the second one. Also, in garlands video, he said to find Moogle in the second reel, you actually just need to press O once the cait face is showing up. In fact, it seems like garlands video isn't entire true. Don't get me wrong, its helpful, but I don't think its very accurate.

Don't the desync issues usually occur when skipping cutscenes? If that's the issue, then just make a "no cutscene skip" rule. I mean, these movies are meant for entertainment. I mean, you can just cut the scene out of the movie through basic video editing.

I'm working on a Slots run with this game. No extreme luck manipulation, as far as that goes will be elevator luck and right arm stealing. So by skipping random battles at that point, I can just one shot the bosses easily. I would just simply cast a hipotion(or cure spell) for full health for the next fight. Would have to select it before I get hit so therfore my ATB will fill up quickly afterwards. But still it can freeze if I'm not careful. Meaning I would have slowly go through the results. Which equals a time loss.

As for the scripted battle issue, if that boss can be one shotted, then you might as well do that. However, that also means you have to be careful that the game won't freeze on you. You're best move at that point is to just run from the battle before the boss screen. That failing to reset danger value is news to me though.

Sorry about the double post, but I just found out an easy way to skip random battles through TAS. We all know that weird walking can get desired random battles and ambushes on some bosses, but the truth is, skipping random battles through the menu is a lot faster than weird walking is or running at that. What you do is: Make a save state, frame by frame walk until you get a random battle, once you hear the battle swirl coming in(knowing that you counted up to this point), subtract 2 frames from the number you found. And load the save state. And reach that number(the new number). Once you reach it, press and hold Triangle+Directional pad, let the menu pop up, X+Directional pad, and its gone. If that doesn't work, because sometimes you have to do it twice, then do just that, but you have to count some frames until you see the next battle, and repeat that step for the other menu skip.

I didn't know a new version was coming out.. Fun fact: I actually like it when the sound is all messed up. On the flip side, I am curios to know what it will sound like with the audio fixed up. Like inhumanly going through the menu. I always found that fascinating. Thanks for letting me know!

I'm working on a TAS of this game.. But there is one major issue I'm having.. Using PSXjin, when I save state, the background goes black and the text looks messed up as well. Here's my config file:

I am not sure what to make of this. Just posting a recent message I received on youtube:
weird enemy miss animations So while I was fighting materia keeper(for example), he casted big horn on the middle character, and done some rather long animation that looked kinda strange. I'm just contacting you about this because you're a TAS runner and you know about ram manipulation when it comes to FF7. So try to have materia keeper cast big horn(not sure if thats the weird animation I'm talking about, but I know what Hell combo looks like when it missses) and its on the middle character. It gets really weird(in my opinion). It looks like materia keeper is dancing on his TWO feet.
That was from me. Very long animation.

I'm assuming tounets is having trouble with twlight town right now? He said that he was having some frustrations with that world. And I think hes busy with school as well.

Lol. I forgot that Marluxia is the final boss for Sora.. And that Ansem is the final boss for Riku.. I haven't played this game in forever. I am playing the PS3 version for now, but I'm stuck in Twilight town. I'll watch more of your videos tonight. As for the grinding, wouldn't it be faster if you did no grinding at all? I mean, it will make slower boss battles yes, but I think that grinding will take longer than some typical slow fight. Since this is a tas run, you can manipulate what cards are dropped and what cards are used by the boss. So have the boss cast low value cards while high values cards without stocking. If the boss decides to stock cards, break it with a zero card. I have no idea how that is done, but is a pretty nice strategy to eliminate grinding. On top of that, there are level leaps in this game. It can happen. Which will be fun to see.

I remember when I played this game back when I was 11 years old , I didn't know what enemy cards did and never figured it out. So I beat the game without enemy cards. Back then, I couldn't read very well either. This run is looking quite nice. This game is very suitable for a TAS run. I can't believe people have done single segment runs of this game. This game is solely based on luck with speed running. Routing in this game is pretty fun as well. Will the final boss be easy like in every other RPG speedrun? Find out when that time comes! As for Riku mode, that shouldn't require that much luck. As your card deck is based on the world you're on. So skill is key in that area. People have done riku mode already. I don't think criticals exist in this game? The only real luck involved in riku mode is door cards and Jafar platform manipulation. And I suppose enemy behavior as well.
