News about the linux port: saturnus runs better on ubuntu 20.04 than windows 10. On windows 10, it takes what feels like a minute to load. Plus some crash message that can be ignored and unresponsive. So yeah, linux wins in performance!

Google bizhawk github and look at the readme on how to install it. Dshawk also has 99% of desmume hle bios implemented so this game may not require bios, but if it doesnt run without, you will need to get the bios. With dshawk, Ive done a lot of sync tests, and so far none.

First of all, wrong place to post that. Its already been mentioned elsewhere, and dreamcast games have ports that can already be tased(with some minor graphical changes). So I don't really see the point in a dreamcast core(other than to tas shenmue games, which are bad candidates either way).

I'm seeing some unoptimization issues here. For one, at the last fight with voldemort, it can be improved if you moved up each time you got hit so then your projectile has shorter distance. During the maze, I also noticed some unoptimized movement. You don't seem to use diagonal direction much. You go left and down like its not an option. Some missed shots from your party members too from early fights. It should be possible to manipulate them so their shots connect.

I didnt expect it to sync, I was just expecting some kind of playback. It doesnt even try to play it back. Just an error saying a given key wasnt present. Several times too.

Does any dsm file converted to bk2 even sync with any of our published runs? Lego star wars ii the original trilogy comes with some error that something out of bounds on latest interim. I never succeeded with even getting 1 frame imported. Because lego star wars ii doesnt require bios, its recommended to not have it on as it may cause desyncs.

I dont know. Because its not meant for tas, save states maybe included in the input file. So dont get too excited.

Has anyone noticed ppsspp has input recording now? https://github.com/hrydgard/ppsspp/pull/12153 Its goal is for debugging reasons and to reproduce crashes and whatnot(he has explicitly said its not meant for tas), but its not too far away. I guess all thats needed now is frame counter and to save the frame counter. RTC would be a problem too.

It looks like ppsspp has some input recording for the purpose of debugging: https://github.com/hrydgard/ppsspp/pull/12153 From my understanding, because it doesn't use a frame counter to store in save states, its not meant for tasing. However, because libtas has save states, instead of creating a libtas input file, you can use it to make a ppsspp input file instead. I don't know how well this would work, but just a thought. Does anyone want to test it? I don't even know if it works on linux.

As in, games that work with no issues. Like do that sync and whether or not save states work fine with them. I havent messed with libtas in a while, and have noticed wine support has improved over the pasts months or so. Not gonna go back to linux until bizhawk at least has melonds working.

It seems like it might be. I used a wired mouse and it works. You can also use the virtual pad if all else fails.

You simply click the touch screen like how you would in desmume. If youre using a laptops little mouse pad built in while in frame advance, it wont register. Unpause the emulator and clicking should work. If you use an actual mouse adapter, it works fine under frame advance for some reason. Thats just from my testing.

The world record for any% looks so optimized that a tas wouldnt make much of a difference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e6aGab9jhgc Yeah, thats one of the reasons why people keep changing their mind about what to tas lol

Has anyone managed to import an existing dsm movie into bizhawk and have it sync? I couldnt even get it play at all because of multiple error windows that came up.

Nice! Yeah, a tas of that would be interesting. No missed shots, frame perfect timing. Be pretty amusing.

That doesn't look tased at all. He even "checks out" stuff in the menu at the beginning which could have been easily avoided with 1 rerecord. Make a save state before you do anything, make up your mind, load the save state, and get what you need. Hes also using an outdated ps1 emulator(I didnt look at the upload date to be fair), but yeah. That needs to be updated. Good luck with this!

I looked at the citra github save state project page and found out the frame buffer isn't saved and for some reason he says it MIGHT do it. Im not sure if frame buffer would make a difference in sync if it was serialized though.

Youre going to lose your privileges to make submissions if you keep this up. If you just want to share a tas, put it in userfiles. Or on youtube dont put it here.

Is there a reason youre not using an actual movie file from citra? The save/load state feature still has a lot of things to be fixed, and because this project seems TAS focused, it shouldnt be long before this can be accepted.
