Ah, that was only on the 3D0 version, Kenny. 'cause...y'know...I don't think you could rename your Captain and Ship on that version. But that's about as official as it gets, admittedly.

I'd say this is a "Yes" vote. I don't really have much else to say about it. There's simply not much room for improvement here as far as I can tell.

Are you now referring to the original game, called Star Control 2, or the Windows port of the game, called The Ur-Quan Masters? Because you mentioned both in the title...
The full title of the game is "Star Control II: The Ur-Quan Masters," silly. But in answer to your question...

As for which version... Either is good. The DOS version of Star Control II is good for authenticity(be it through DOSBox or MS-DOS), the 3DO version is good for graphical enhancements and voice-overs, and The Ur-Quan Masters version, which spans several Operating Systems, is just plain good all around!

C'mon. This game is truly the greatest space adventure ever lived! It's got space battles, mining, exploration, diplomacy... It's got a bit of everything, really! And I wanna see it done in record time!! Why...there's even a speed-run guide posted up on GameFAQs for this game! So c'mon! Join Captain <insert name here> of the Precursor flagship <insert name here> on the most epic space adventure man has ever known! Free the universe from the threat of the Ur-Quan masters! Become a legend...

This is just about as good as it gets, in my opinion. ._. I think there might be something in the Doom fight that could use improvement, and maybe something about calling Benny with the whistle, but otherwise, I think it all relys on the random item placement.

My vote is "postpone". This may be published as a supplemental later when a real movie is made, but until then, this is considered cheating, and will not be published.
This is pretty much what I was thinking, actually, for the exact same reasons. I mean, I know "New Game +" is part of the game, but the site has explicitly mentioned somewhere that most(note I say "most") tool-assisted speed runs are to start from a hard boot of a game; start from the very beginning without saves or otherwise. So...I'll hold off on voting, too. Just to keep matters simple. :3

What Tub said. I thought that initially, you were going for just the basic ending. You brutally proved me wrong, and I thank you for that. ^_^ My Vote: Yes!(...if I could vote. O_o;)
