Yep, that is EXACTLY where I've gotten all of mine from. Still, good heads up for those who don't know. Space Mutiny...that may well be my single favorite episode so far (yes, including Manos, though it is pretty close). Way too many great lines and running gags, plus the movie itself is about a thousand times funnier than Spaceballs. Overdrawn at the Memory Bank was great, too ("He looks drunk to me!"). Haven't seen any of the others you mentioned, but definitely will eventually. Diabolik interests me just because it has the guy who played Kalgan. =P -Josh

Wow, under 50? Impressive. I know about the lack of load times and the ability to grab items as Fairy. Are there any other timesavers I'm missing? -Josh

OK, I think the American version deserves a separate thread (and its own run, eventually), as the two versions are quite different. Just a quick question for starters, how much faster do you think this would be than the Japanese one? -Josh

Thanks. And don't worry, you'll get your fill of glitchness! =) Just finished Goonies, total time is now 9:18 (3:43 faster than v1 already!). I slow down to avoid damage a couple times here, as I am aiming not to have to use the healing room this time. Now for the one level that doesn't have a warp... EDIT: Quietust, your glitch rules. I just tried it in the first small passage in Kong's stage, and there are actually two spots in that passage where it can move you forward. -Josh

I personally don't think so, the game is fairly short. You have to use the hidden prize rooms, as they skip much of each level. And Bart's Nightmare would definitely be cool. -Josh

I'm a little ways into Goonies now. Figured out a way to not take any damage in the area with all the purple plants, while maintaining speed, and it looks much cooler now. -Josh

Hyper SF2 is fun. Champion Edition Bison is not, though. =/ At least they toned down Old Sagat...

I see that this has already been published, but here are some suggestions anyway: 1. Like Bisqwit said, abuse the parachute more in general. 2. Optimize the bosses, they all look like they could use a little improvement. The strategies seem to be good but not *quite* played perfectly. 3. If red gems add to the time spent at the "Level Complete" screen, then avoid all of them if possible. If they don't, then grab as many as possible while maintaining speed. 4. In autoscrolling stages, try to grab all of the green gems (or at least as many as you can), and red gems if they don't add to time. -Josh

Ah, thanks. Here's something else I wondered: Why doesn't he get Bowser or Geno's best weapons? Do those Bowser's Keep stages take too long? -Josh

But the ghosts on the sunken ship shouldn't be an issue. Fire bombs are much more valuable for that area, as they work wonders against King Calamari's tentacles and Johnny's henchmen. I notice in the run that he gets the Lazy Shell weapon but not the armor...would a timeattack require both or neither? -Josh

Actually it's only around 550 MB. I used FlashGet and it downloaded from there in no time at all. Haven't seen too much yet, will comment later. -Josh

Alright, version 2 has begun. Just finished Castlevania in 5:01 (almost a 2-minute improvement). Most of that comes from the hidden exit, but I also killed the boss quite a bit more quickly. I also figured out how to affect randomness better without jumping (holding Up at various times), so I get bullets and hearts whenever I can *and* take a lot less damage than I did before. -Josh

Nice to see other people liking Guilty Gear! XX (or X2, its American name) was the only thing I played for over a year...now I'm waiting for #Reload (ROBO KY WHOOOOOO). I got to play Isuka for awhile when I was at Evolution, and it's pretty much what I expected. Way too broken for competition, but an extremely fun game nonetheless. You know, speaking of Evolution, SSBM was actually supposed to be added to their tournament lineup this year, but they ran into some kind of legal issue with Nintendo at the last minute. This one spawned a HUGE debate much like the "is SSBM a fighting game" one. I say, if Tekken 4 (a.k.a. Jin: The Game) is worthy of inclusion, Smash Bros. definitely should be. feitclub: Cool, another SNK fan! KoF'98, in my mind, is and will always be their finest work. Fatal Fury Special is a personal favorite, along with Last Blade 2 and Samurai Shodown 2. The Real Bout series seems interesting as well, I just haven't figured out how to actually play them yet. I have to disagree with you about 3D fighters. I absolutely love the Virtua Fighter series (perhaps THE most well-crafted for tournament play), and Tekken 5 has me interested. Never really "got" Darkstalkers the way some others do, cool games though. Evidently there still is a tournament scene for Vampire Savior in Japan, the game was included in this year's Super Battle Opera (humongous national tournament sponsored by Arcadia Magazine). Now, to add something of my own here...check out this site for movies showcasing combos for various fighting games. More coming later, Josh.

Hey all, here's a general thread to discuss whatever you like about fighting games such as Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Tekken, or what have you. To start with, in light of the SF Anniversary Collection coming out soon, I HIGHLY recommend that anyone buying it also picks up the BradyGames strategy guide. They actually hired real players to do both games, and it is quite excellent as a result. The 3rd Strike part even includes frame data for every move of every character! -Josh

I said this before but I'll do so again: I highly doubt we'll see MAME rerecording for a very long time, for a couple reasons: 1. Savestates tend not to work properly with a lot of games (i.e. Gradius). 2. Fixing this is not exactly a high priority for the MAME team. Sad, but true. -Josh

I liked Black more than most it seems...very unbalanced game, though; Spectre/Grimm/Yellow Jacket owned everyone else, and virtually all the large vehicles were useless. 2 is awesome, used to play it a LOT back in the day. Mr. Slam was my favorite... -Josh

Good list there, guys! I would like to add two problems I've had, one minor and one major: 1. It seems to always screw up the displayed time for Sword Master movies. 2. Changing the speed within the movie tends to make it desync. Hoping we can fix all of this, Josh.

Hey all, if anyone here has any comments about my movies (aside from stuff already posted in the Wai Wai World thread), it would be appreciated if you can post them. I want these videos to be high-quality enough for this site (well, Dash Galaxy probably has no hope, but Castle of Dragon and Sword Master certainly should!). Thanks, Josh.

One of my all-time favorite NES games, was considering doing this but it looks like I don't have to. Besides, after I finish Wai Wai World, I doubt I'll want to touch another long game for awhile. Good luck, Josh.

Thanks for the comments! Man, you actually got to play this game on a Famicom? Lucky bastard. =) The "random" jumping and punching is done to affect enemy item drops. I'll see if I can find a less weird-looking way of doing that. And thank you once again for that glitch. -Josh
