Yeah, I forgot to mention this...on Nintendorecords I have movies of Nightmare on Elm Street, Darkman, and Dash Galaxy in the Alien Asylum. So there's more to add to the list. =P Speaking of which, ziplock is the only other guy I forgot about before. He's only got a couple runs published here, but look at those and all the stuff he's done on Nintendorecords, and you'll see what I mean.

I don't know if he even SUBMITTED any runs early enough to qualify. I've got a feeling he'll be a contender here next time, though...Cocoron is the hotness indeed. =) -Josh

100% agree with Bisqwit, this category is rather pointless. -Josh

Hey Mike, didn't know you were following my movies. I just got tired of stressing over perfection and took a break from movie-making. I will return to Vice soon though...right now I'm about halfway through level 5. It will be awesome, trust me... The problem with Kid Chameleon is that there's a noticeable optimization to be made all the way back in level 3. You just cannot hexedit in this game either, as there are more random factors than just enemy behavior. After I finish Vice, I'll probably move onto Monster Party and make that publish-worthy. The game in and of itself is quite entertaining, as it's one of the most whacked-out things on the NES. I honestly don't know whether I'll ever get back to Kid Chameleon...it's a pain because the controls are SO precise and it's so long. If it ever gets done it would be star-worthy IMO, as even in a speedrun the game still offers a ton of variety, so maybe I will get to it... Anyway, back to the topic. -Josh

Hmm, could we make this into a general music thread? So, new NIN album finally came out today. I listened to the whole thing once, and don't really know how to feel yet...it is a hell of a lot more commercial than his others, I will say that. The second half is much less so, however, and I think I like it better than the first. The Hand That Feeds has grown on me, and I think most of this album will in due time...I'm probably going to still prefer Downward Spiral and Fragile in the end, but this isn't bad at all. Oh yeah, and I've gotten a couple Blind Guardian albums recently. Someone on here (Bobwhoops, I think) pimped them as being better than Nightwish, but I really can't agree. As far as straight power metal goes, they're some of the best I've heard, but I just tend to inherently prefer the symphonic/operatic approach. Supposedly these guys are coming out with an orchestral album sometime in the distant future, and I eagerly await that... -Josh

There should be a difference between programming and forum/IRC stuff. For the former, I'd go with blip just because he was the first one to implement frame advance in an emulator. This is something I absolutely cannot live without anymore, and I know a lot of others feel the same way. For someone who's helpful in other ways, I'll definitely say Truncated. If he has any idea how a game works, he'll probably point out something you missed. My cancelled Kid Chameleon movie would not have been anywhere near the quality that it was without him... EDIT: I'll add that Mike Uyama is also great with any game he knows. -Josh

The short Zelda run and Out of This World. I had no idea any of that stuff was possible... -Josh

Hmm...well, there's some good stuff in the submissions queue. Sonic 2&3, Mickey Mouse, Boulderdash... Sorry for whoring myself, but my Nightmare on Elm Street run on Nintendorecords may be worth considering. I improved ziplock's time by quite a bit, but didn't submit it here because the luck manipulation isn't quite perfect; it's somehow possible to complete the first three levels in order from left to right, which I wasn't able to achieve in that video. The play itself was done entirely frame-by-frame, and I think the boss battles are quite fun if nothing else... -Josh

Gotta be the Rygar runs, though Rockman 1&2 are close. -Josh

Flashback, by far. You'd think this would be the most boring thing ever, but I'm sure nobody expected all the cool glitches within. -Josh

Definitely the new Rockman 2, that was in development for over a year! How do you beat that? -Josh

Thanks guys. Sometime in the next millenium I WILL complete Monster Party, which is more screwed up than anything I've done yet. Those who saw the run I submitted before will know what I'm talking about. ;) Really, myself and Walker are the only ones who come to mind here... -Josh

Bionic Commando for me. Rockman 1&2, both Rygar runs, SMB2...those are up there too. -Josh

I'll be a contrarian and go with Streets of Rage 2. It isn't the greatest thing visually, but if you know the game well it truly looks like an unbelievable performance. The difficulty of Mania with 1 player cannot be overstated... -Josh

BoltR, TheAxeMan, nitsuja, Blublu, Ogreslayer (sorry for forgetting the exact spelling =P), Zoizite, Teri...these guys have only made a couple or a few movies each, but are consistently high-quality. For people who've done lots of movies well, I would say: Bisqwit Walker Boh Phil Genisto SprintGod Arc Sleepz FODA -Josh

Too bad Sonic 2 and the new Sonic 3 are too late to qualify, those two would be the obvious picks. Yeah, probably Kid Chameleon. -Josh

Umihara Kawase, the short one I guess. I had never heard of this game, but it turned out to make great vids. -Josh

I'll go with Viper's SMW. Though the route is obviously improvable, the technique displayed most certainly qualifies here. -Josh

I second Power Blade. EDIT: Bisqwit's first short Rygar movie also fits in well here, all the glitches shocked the heck out of me at the time. EDIT #2: Here's another good one nobody's mentioned...Walker Boh's first Castlevania 2 movie. He had only made one tiny post to hint toward this, long before it was completed, and I'm sure nobody knew a full run could be improved that much... -Josh

Arc is the most consistent of anyone in picking games that require crazy amounts of planning, so he gets my vote. I wouldn't mind seeing Acmlm either, his work on DW was insane. -Josh
