ShinyDoofy, your efforts would not go unappreciated... EDIT: Hoe, I DO like the echo Mario vid. Nice idea, visually.

because I absolutely hate games where all you do is run to the right very slowly, and do not find the contra series to be entertaining in the slightest.

Does not freaking compute, man. EDIT: Watched it. Liked it. Whatever the final encode looks like, I think it definitely needs the screen gap. It's a little disorienting otherwise (not faulting you, Sir VG; thanks for the quick & dirty). Would the Alien Heart at the end of the alien 3D stage die faster with 2x Crush? Would the time saved there outweigh the time saved by dying (and losing double crush) in the city stage before it? The time saved is so minor either way, I doubt it would matter much.

That's better. An all-around better effort than the Richter-only submission. For whatever reason, there's a Windows navigation "click" about 1:40 into the Youtube encode.

Terrific run. The only problem I have with it is the excessive shop time, but I understand why it's needed. Great job! An official encode should keep the map in some form, if only to help visually explain the pure WTF-ery of the game suspensions. To be specific, I liked Gocha's (?) with the full-resolution game screen and the mini half-res dual screens on the right side.

Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing a Vs. CPU run on the hardest difficulty (where you hold L+Select+something on the select screen), but I can imagine it would be nothing chain reactions filling the CPU's field and would probably get VERY old after the 12th or 13th opponent. Kles, Kirkq, aside from the fact that SNES9X has shitty audio to begin with, Wario's Woods has some very odd audio implementation all on its own. Probably has something to do with the high amount of and quick manipulation of vocal samples. It's one of the few SNES games where you can't dump a standard SPC song file from your emulator of choice.

There's a lot of David Letterman and Joey Lawrence in there, too, Twisted Eye.

I have played this game and I was entertained, so I imagine that somebody like myself who's actually played this game might really like this TAS too, also, kinda. I honestly did enjoy it. Like any good puzzle game, this game has tricks and sequences you can set up in advance, and it looks like you took good advantage of it. I freaked out a little bit when I saw you carrying diamonds around, but then I realized this isn't the NES version :p Mashing Pause for luck manipulation got old fast, but there's not much you can do about it. And the audio doesn't suffer any more for it, because SNES9X seems to screw it up anyway (it's one of those few games with non-standard, un-dumpable SPC routines). It's too bad the game doesn't throw more freak enemies at you, like the Dovos (color changers), even if you do weasel your way out of a confrontation using diamonds. If I had to pick a favorite, I'd pick Hard 2 / 3. Yes vote. I wish Nintendo would whore this out as often as they do with Dr. Mario or Tetris Attack / Puzzle League.

I suppose a perfect encode would use a plugin that does the 30fps properly everywhere except specific parts that it doesn't work in, like puzzle transitions and underwater areas and such, and jabo 1.6 for those parts. But jeez, this run is crazy long and the capture is already taking up 50GB. Splicing all those moments in from 2 sources would be a nightmare. :P ...I think I'm going to splice in the ending from some other plugin though, because jabo1.6 with the rdram option on still does a terrible job of showing those "picture" framebuffer objects that mumbo holds up.
So let's say you've captured the entire thing at 60 fps, with certain segments, stuttering scenery, and camera movements locked at 30 fps. Couldn't you do something in post-processing to remove every other frame to get that 30 fps fidelity across the whole movie? (theoretical question -- not a gripe)

Great run! Like the X5 run, it's great to see these clunky characters move around with such grace (when necessary). Please consider a 100%/all Mavericks/rescue everybody run in the future.

Didn't they change it to "Lambda Bamda" or something like that in another game?
In X5, actually! But that's completely okay since it had a huge makeover anyway. With a huge chunk of free time, I'm about to watch this run.

Great run. I'm not a TAS maker at all, but even I could recognize some good manipulation with some of the boss fights. I've always disliked how the characters control in the Playstation versions (feels too clunky), but Zero moves wonderfully with tool-assisted precision. I'd like to see an all-Maverick run someday, if only to see characters breeze through the cluttered stages (and because X5 has some of the series' better stage music).

If you want to split hairs, you're correct. There's a Famicom version of Gryzor.

Is the audio/video of the AVI horribly out of sync for anyone else?

Is it so much of an ordeal to re-encode it with all the same settings as the other Mario 64 movies? Come on, people want to see this!

Is anyone else having a horrible time with this .avi? The sound is okay, but there is constant visual stuttering and it never stays at a fluid 60 fps. The video hangs up on transitions, too. I've got a powerful system, and I've never had any problems with the other published Mario 64 movies. Maybe a re-encode is in order. EDIT: In a nutshell...

Lastly, what codec was used to encode that video? It ran poorly for me.
I'm only seeing something like every 20th frame from Dire, Dire Docks and onward.
