Well, march 9 or 10, I will be definetely doing the first stage/s of this TAS, now that I know it's different enough comparing to Gen version, and it's a nice attempt to enrich the Master System TAS archive \o/

The differences are: 1- Genesis version has slighted improved graphics, and one entirely different world (of 10 rounds); 2- SMS version has a "select stage option', which means I only have to fight the bosses for the first three worlds, Genesis would have 50 stages, while my route on SMS has only 25; (but this is still questionable, because maybe, just maybe, a 100% game would be wiser) 3- SMS divides the 20 characters between player 1 and player 2, in 10 different classes, while Gen has 20 different characters and both players can have a lot of them; 4- Gen has this Hard mode, which consists on the SMS cheat: you start with all characters - but! In Gen, you lose one, it's lost, unless you save him/her ... in SMS, the cheat consists on starting all stages with one of each class; 5 and most important- I grew up playing the SMS version, and know the procedures and most secrets, while on the Gen version, I would struggle against the unknown, and probably do a lousy TAS (this adds to 'I've been studying Dega and Gens 11a is a new world yet' =P Gain Ground consists on knowing all the random values, and predicting where the enemies will appear (which happens exactly at the point where the enemy number changes on screen) ... and ... there is much more to avoid on Gen version, as the enemies don't really have a limit number of shot in screen .... and we have.

Watch the current WIP, that goes for the ending. (Runs on Dega 1.16 doze core) Well, this and E-SWAT were my first frame advance videos, and they probably look very amateur.. but I'm getting the picture here, and I can improve it a lot, especially when shooting =P I think the next step is watching the WIP and pointing errors, improvements and such, so, can you please help me with this? I will have time to start the TAS after carnival, around march 9, or 10 (being brazilian has this disadvantage) +_+

Did you guys hear the brief sound in Wily 2 after Mega Man went up and down and committed that Stage clear trick? The game actually talked, YES! It talked! Name one tas that has ever made the game to talk :)
Actually this is how I pictured this moment too .... the game talked, in pain and in the last moments before death, but talked, no other TAS has ever done such an accomplishment before =) But I came here to say something: DelayStageClear is not a regular glitch .... I don't even think it falls into glitch category, it is a new type of error in the game, that should receive a new word, a new name for it .... AND ... this movie should not, and I'm serious, SHOULD NOT obsolete the previous one, because it is a new category, a new thing, this is the missingno of Megaman games! The previous movie is perfect too in its way, with no orders to jump complete stages, so, how could it be obsoleted by a new technique that jumps stages? Also, the Bot's name should appear in the credits, he's made the most work, and he should have won TASer of the year (ok, cut this part off) (please Cutman, do so, why are you so glitched??) EDIT: See how it is the best TAS ever? The best TAS ever receives ZERO MEH VOTES! ò_o nobody could be mehd by this run =P

Well, I wasn't going to start another project without finishing at least a decent version of one of my WIPs,.. .. but then I started playing around with this game and kept trying to walk through walls ... or at least through that purple glowing weed, ... which I failed completely, but! This game offer some features for a TAS: 1- enemies go down quicker in later stages .. maybe the programmer wanted to make the sword level up or something? Final bosses that were supposed to be the hardest can be (forgive the stolen expression) TASed to death, easier than the first bosses =P 2- the fastest way to go forward is ... to be pushed by enemies in strategically good bashes from behind, but some enemies can't push you to a good direction, unfortunately, .. tried everything (and of course if HP gets to 0 you lose a life and go back drastically....) 3- some stages really need some items, like fireballs to open blocked paths, and money to heal or buy a friend (yeah, money heals and buy friends, this is almost fun factor) 4- I can deliver 6 attacks per second, and there are 2 ways for that happening (chosen randomly by the game?): "continuous pressing", and "quick hitting" ... both can be noted through the video =P But I still don't think it's a good game for TASing, ... werebats are the hell to manipulate, and flower monster needs a really precise spot to be taken down easier, ... that water man probably can be defeated quicker My WIP I went all the way, but 24 minutes is just too much,... there is got to be a better way of optimising this.... Done in Dega 1.16 doze core, my WIP emulator =P EDIT: Hasn't FODA mentioned this game years ago, in the past? I would like to hear from him about my WIP .... .-.

How could you turn thegame into an Atari?? Well, voted Meh, because even if it's really short, it's boring to watch him going always do the same thing in each level =P Kudos for the ending, really \o\

Actually enemies can be manipulated to appear most on the left side, run until they're close, and then they stop and keep looking like idiots =P E-SWAT WIP complete, 8 min 47 sec, and not really optimised, done in one day o_o Well, as I finally gave up counting the shots and decided it's ok to let some fly away in this case, here it is, E-SWAT in even less than 9:30 ... and it's possible to make it even better =P 1- Ninjas, flying and grenade enemies actually have to be dealt with, in one condition: when it's the last screen of a stage, otherwise they can be completely ignored like I said before =P 2- I really could jump shots from behind without losing any speed, .. even with the armor (which makes the character a little more... chubby) =P 3- The end of each stage, actually, doesn't look that bad compared to when I thought luck manipulation would be hard to do ... xP 4- The real problem is optimising, because it takes a random amount of frames to make shots become precise, and for a test and object of studying, I just decided to not care that much... +D And 5 and not less important: I don't know for sure, but there is a Hard Version of E-SWAT on Master System ... maybe this is the European one? O.o I managed to play it a little and it's really hard, but equally TASable if I care to try.. XD EDIT: oh yeah, which emulator .... used Dega 1.16 doze core again, after the Gain Ground video, but both desync really bad in other versions... MAME core really looks best for you know ... Optimised TASing =P

After not receiving any comments on E-SWAT and playing around on After Burner (8 to 10 frames holding left to make the plane actually start turning left) ... I'm here playing Gain Ground on frame advance... and the current results are: Advantages: 1- The game itself is fast paced, depending on the warriors you choose, and getting from one side of the screen to another takes very little time for 60% of the classes. 2- Bosses never "blink", actually, no enemy blinks, I can shoot them all the way and all shots will count down on the enemy's HP (which is 40 on bosses, and 20 on sub-bosses) .. 3- Saving the actual strong warriors is currently taking little time with only 2 stages, when I'm actually going straight to the boss fights (the good point on having a stage select for the first 3 rounds) 4- I'm confident on my attempt on stage 3-4 \o\ Disadvantages: 1- Ok, I've heard complainings about this: 2 or 3 or even 4 frames holding a button to actually see the action happen.. when I'm shooting, I have to hold the button for a number of frames, release it for another number, and hold it again, which is kind of random, depending on the incredible amount of lags +_+ 2- Two players controlled at the same time, when I can't really see player 2's commands on the screen, ... it's not really a problem, just a .... disadvantage =P 3- I'm posting now because I'm not sure it's a good choice for a game, few people know it, and it's probably going to be 14 minutes or more in the final result, ... I've seen better, quicker Master System games being shot by the critics around here .... @___@ The current WIP, on the half of Stage 4-1 (Stages can only be jumped for the first 3 rounds) This is far from optimised, I'll only start the real deal after receiving a little feedback here ... +D Be gentle, it's my first try on TASes.... x.x EDIT: The second version, a complete one, goes for the ending. My tries of 3-4, 4-4, 5-6 and 5-8 are pretty impressive, actually, and 4-6 and 5-3 both look perfect Downs: 1- Of course I still need to plan where to lose the characters I didn't need for the rest of the game,.. missile guys especially =P 2- stages than can be improved: 4-2, throwing the bomb on the corner (hard to get a hit), 5-5, having less characters, .. and 5-9, with a better approach +_+ 3- used Dega 1.16 doze core, but I'm correcting this on the real deal version, will use MAME core for sure \o\

Voting Meh here =P Look, I know you got the drawing skills, but this version just isn't as entertaining as the old (and awarded) one, .. even with the "different ending", I think (of course not considering a No vote) that if you want to do an Art Academy version, you'll have to get a 100 new images to draw, because seeing the same as before was just less than expected ... So what can I say on the good side? Why do some people like it even better than the old (and awarded, ha) one? Amazing work on drawing, and tricking the game, this is what TAS is about, anyway, tricking the game into giving away the correct answers from odd entries .. +D Are you trying to get awarded DS TAS of Year twice in a row?? XD

Shouldn't you be able to perform jumps in this game or am I daydreaming here? o_o Without jumps and avoiding ghosts the long way, I don't think this is optimised at all, voting No too =P (Does this game really have an ending to be reached?...) EDIT: Ok, now I remember =P shouldn't you be trying to make more green pills appear in the middle? They speed up Pac-Man, which would be a great item for speedrunning =P EDIT2: The game has 19 rounds, ... although there are only 4 different labyrinths. Well, if you can make a 16 round interesting run with different moments and overhuman skill (really needed on the last rounds), ... ..... ... otherwise I don't think this game is a good choice for TASing.. o.o

Is this a common problem for an emulator? "I can't see player 2's commands so I find it too difficult to TAS a 2 players Master System game" ... ? =P

I'm thinking about Gain Ground recently .... the game has options to choose stages on the 3 first worlds, so I would just save one or two of the characters and do everything the quick way ... with 2 players shouldn't be long, but there is the 'double enemies for two players' problem.... ... and there is the problem that some commands aren't accepted in one frame having to be hold by two or three .... is that common? x_x when I tried to play After Burner in frame advance, I saw that you need to hold left for about 8 (EIGHT!) frames so the plain would turn left o_o EDIT: of course After Burner isn't a TASable game at first, but when playing in frame advance, I found out that missiles are really dumb, and if you kill the enemies quicker, the next enemies come quicker too ... which means there is an ordered array of enemies for each stage .... and ... I didn't study that much the bosses, but they can be taken out very quickly, probably less than 2 seconds =P

I gotta tell you ... when I finished watching the first two rounds, I thought that was going to be a weak TAS, but then, it got better, and these insane combos and glitched fatalities ... I think it deserves a little more than weak yes votes .... I'm voting Yes at least above-average \o\

Yes vote, and I just had to stop watching after Bombman stage, I can't laugh out loud right now @___@ I need to rewatch it again and again +D EDIT: Ok, now you discovered the best ending of Rockman =P Even the time is neat, 12:23:34, this is probably the TAS of the year! My favorite part is that one with the eerie sound, I think it was WS2 ... o.o This IS the most glitched game ever.

Some more broken levels, few left to go \o That entrance of 'Launch Base act 2' is epic! If I could suggest a screenshot, I would go for the end of this act.. =P And... voted Yes, of course. EDIT: oh yes, this one =P

This could be interesting: Tetris Classic: played for the exact time, to make it play the level musics, without playing the fanfare in-between levels, ... because in this game, music is the best part =P

I think, for fun factor that: - For fun factor, Zan should get all chickens and fruits, people just love when the energy and life they need while playing is completely wasted =P - In 4-2, they should show off the bug when you're stepping into the cabin but get hit by the train for no damage =P - In the end of 4-2, one of them should pass by the car =P - I think the WIP is missing one motorcycle guy on 1-2... Anyway, this is EPIC, it's one of the best and funniest TASes I've ever seen, and it's not even complete yet, it simply NEEDS to be done! @___@ That part on 5-2 where all the enemies get going to the middle of them is extreme! @___@ I think the time will be around what, 35 minutes? It's not THAT long for a run, .. I've re-played Bare Knuckle 3 yesterday, and I can finish the game in 58 minutes, and this one is played in the hardest version, I just can't see how someone would give up on this project! @___@

I have a technical question: - if I save and load during a video, it adds ONE to the rerecord counter, right? - ok, so... if the rerecord count is more than 0, it means the person played without using save states, right? - but what if this person saves and loads a lot, and then he edits the binary file, and sets the rerecord count back to 0? (the technical question is obviously the last one) o_o (but answering all three would be greatly appreciated) @__@

Maybe you're using a different rom version, or a different version of Gens? (I had to search for 9z to see the Phantasy Star 2 WIP around the site) Once I saw a movie desync because the video was recorded with sound turned off o_o

Crazy ideas for my wishlist: - Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego - flying all the time XD - Sim City 2000 ... is it possible? =P - Wolfeinstein 3D - D/Generation - Volfied - Life & Death (1 and 2) - the most complicated surgery procedures made in seconds, anyone? xP - Stunts - quickly produce a heavily hard course, and make an impossible record =P - Pushover ... too long?
